No jacket for groom ok for country church wedding?

Lizbizz85, 10 March, 2021 at 13:51 Posted on Planning 0 10

My fiance is a big chap and inclined to overheat and like me he doesn't really do 'dressing up'/formal wear - we are both casual types who are more comfortable melting into the background tbh. He would look completely gorgeous in a waistcoat and shirt as opposed to jacket and would definitely overheat with both jacket and waistcoat on (August wedding). I know traditionally jackets are expected for church weddings. I've browsed a few hire websites and they seem to assume everyone will want jacket and I don't want him to have to pay for one if he isn't going to wear it. Any advice or thoughts appreciated thanks.

Its your day, wear what you want and would feel most comfortable with. You dont have to follow every tradition to the letter. They are traditions not laws. Have a great day and remember you cant please everyone so dont try, just focus on yourselves. Its your day Smiley smile

Its totally normal to feel that way but you need to remember you really cannot please everyone no matter how hard you try. You are marrying their son not them. The 2 most important people on that day are you and your fiance, its your day. Do what makes you happy and the people who love you should respect your choices be happy for you Smiley smile

Your fist port of call should be with the vicar holding the ceremony as they may have other expectations. After that - as everyone else has said its your day.

I think all the lads in just waistcoats looks great. Not me though ( I look like a wet cat Smiley xd )

My other half is the same. And he is wearing a waistcoat. End of the day they wear it for the ceremony and and photos. I don't want him uncomfortable and we are getting married in July so he's going to me sweltering lol. Go with want you want it's your day no one else's is X
