No oven nibbles

Follow the Sare to Bethlehem, 17 December, 2008 at 14:11 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I've got to contribute some nibbles to the staff party on Friday and I can't use my oven. Has anyone any ideas what I can make that can be a) prepared with either no cooking, or cooking on a hob or microwave, and b) that can be assembled at home and stored in the fridge at work?

Some kind of smoked salmon & cream cheese creation
Have you got a George Foreman or anything? You could cook some chicken/veg/beef and make kebabs
    Mini sandwiches/wraps

Alternatively get yourself down to Waitrose and cheat.

    I'd go for this option

    Is it a display oven?

Sorry, how about parma ham and melon?

    Rocket and parma ham.

take a slice of the ham, chuck a handful of rocket on it, roll it up, and secure with a cocktail stick.

stack a pile of the ham/rocket rolls on a plate, drizzle with lemon juice/olive oil dressing, add a few shavings of parmesan on top.

    quick, simple, delicious.

Thank you. I like the sound of those and they sound EASY too. We have a Morrisons nearby which tends to have either pile it high stodge or nibbles that need to go in the oven, so I was trying to avoid that route.

And no, it's not a display oven because it needs a good clean. But it's not working anyway so I've put that task off for now?

Popcorn, sounds naff but never goes uneaten.

Alternatively claim you're going retro and do a cheese and pineapple hedgehog and cold sausage rolls and sausages on a stick.

We had a pink dinner party at my friend's house the other month and we had blinis with prawns, smoked salmon, red pepper tapinade stuff and parma ham. They were all lovely. We finished all the blinis then started on little baked bruscette things. So easy but so effective!

I also love sausages on sticks. ?
