Non alchoholic versions of Pimms

WifeyLind, 15 May, 2009 at 11:27 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

I'm organising a birthday party in a few weeks for my mum and uncle and as it's a garden party, struck on the idea of Pimms. However, whilst I'd lap up the alcoholic version, ? most people with either be driving or don't tend to drink that much. And Google hasn't been my friend in this instance, as I haven't found any suggests for recipes online.

I know the normal recipe is usually Gin, Lemonade, ice, cucumber, strawberries and mint, but any ideas of what I could supplement the gin for to get a similar flavour?

Schweppes do a Summer Punch Lemonade which tastes like Pimms but is non alcoholic. we had it for a bbq last year with all the usual Pimms fruits added and it was delicious. Very refreshing.

I have just asked Mr E and he says that Pimms itself is alcoholic. His reccomendation, though he says it will taste completely different, is to make a cocktail using grenadine (non alcoholic) with something like soda water/ lemonade and the fruit you would use to make Pimms and a garden.

    Sort of similar....

Mix lemonade or diet lemonade with soda water, add rosehip cordial and any juice if you wish (pomegranate is nice) then add red berries such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, which could always be frozen first to use as ice and more flavour. It's delicious.

Elderflower cordial makes a lovely "grown-up" fizzy drink if you make it with fizzy water. Add some mint, and various bits of fruit (pimms stylee) and it's a lovely non-alcho alternative.
