Non floral centrepieces

Hi everyone - I'm wondering if anyone might have tips or ideas for some elegant but non floral centrepieces? I've never really loved cut flowers and find some of the smells overwhelming, and a bit environmentally wasteful. So I would really love to have some centrepieces and decor that's not all about flowers. We are getting married in an old mediaeval hall type building and many non floral centrepiece ideas are a bit too modern for thus venue, but I'd love to hear some suggestions? Currently thinking lots of candles, but they won't be lit till probably 9ish during August, lanterns and maybe drapes - but would love some other ideas!
