Normal for a suit hire company to ask for a £200-300 security deposit?

As above, to be refunded on return of suits. Not come across this before

Ours has asked for a £200 'deposit' where they take the card details on a manual slip and then only charge the card if the suits are not returned - no money will actually be taken beforehand.

The place where we are getting the suits from ask for either £100 security deposit on each suit or £200 for the whole wedding party. It's only on hold in the bank if the suits aren't returned on time, when they are the money is then released (or somthing like that lol)

Oh that's ok then. I doubt we're gonna have £300 to spare just before the wedding, maybe six months after!

Most Hire companies will charge a returnable security deposit. The amounts and method vary depending on the company.

Moss Bros:£200 per suit (£400 highland wear) credit or debit card

As far as I am aware that is pretty normal procedure.

I charge £50.00 cash per suit, But I like to be a bit different.

    Thanks Marc ?

None of the other hire companies we've visited mentioned it, but perhaps it's one of those things they spring on you when you're signing on the dotted line!

That is exactly it. I don't think any of us do it on purpose but we don't tend to mention it until it's contract signing time. ?

We just had to pay an additional £7 per suit insurance and there is and £8 per day late charge.
