North West registry offices

Anarcala, 19 June, 2013 at 15:50 Posted on Planning 0 6

In an attempt to keep the budget down, we're looking at just doing the registry office bit. However, half the offices nearby don't have interior pictures on their websites - and if they do, they're all tiny (hello magnifying glass!).

Has anyone been married or been to a wedding in any of the following registry offices?

  • Birkenhead Town Hall
  • Wallasey Town Hall
  • Wrexham
  • St Georges Hall (Liverpool)
  • South Sefton (Bootle / Crosby)
  • North Sefton (Southport)

Are they nice? What are the staff like? Has it been decorated in the last 30 years?

Perhaps I'm sounding a little snobbish, but I need to feel comfortable where we marry.

Have you done a Google images search on them all?

I've been to 2 weddings in Southport and the room is quite formal, a lot of wood, and reminds me of a courtroom. The registrar table is at the front, and the guestd sit on raised rows at 90 degrees to the registrar table. There is a lovely sweeping staircase as you walk into the building though - very traditional and great for photos! I think there is building work going on around and about the town hall though, so there might be changes to the venue since I last went.

I haven't been to a wedding at St George's Hall but have been to performances in the room they use for the wedding ceremonies. It is grand and ornate, and you can get married on a stage! Beatitiful building and excellent photograph opportunities outside and around with great architecture, and some gardens.

Google wedding photographs with the venue name and you'll find things...

    Good luck!

Yeah...lots of impressive outdoor snaps, but not much in the way of an indoor view. Makes me a bit suspicious!

I work for Cheshire West and Chester and know for a fact I don't want to wed in Chester (it'd be in the building I work in, and soft pink curtains would be all that separates us from Starbucks).

If you google '<venue name> wedding' and just do a normal search rather than image, it should bring up some photographers blogs.

I will say that they are some impressive town halls!

St George's Hall in Liverpool is a stunning place, I would marry there in an instant.
