As the registrar office where we live also covers where we are getting married I assume they won't give us a certificate because they'd only be giving it back to themselves. Phew! We gave notice back in November or December and haven't heard anything from them since but other people on here have been talking about certificates etc. so I worried that we should have had something back from them.

Just seen all this talk of cake and its making me want someone right now!

Love the naked cake idea, think they look so pretty. I think we're probably just having a chocolate M&S one. Not very exciting but it looks yummy:

We gave notice just before the new year and we still haven't received out certificates... hmm. Must chase that up!

Are yours not being posted out? Ours are being posted out so we just have to wait and then talk to the venue once we have them.

I thought they were supposed to send them out to us so we could send them to the office in the county where we're getting married, but maybe they sent them directly to Surrey? I should really look up the paperwork! I can't remember what she told us.

Ladies I have booked my hen do and I am so excited! I have text all the girls and my OH and no-one has text me back yet, so I thought I would share my excitment with you lovely ladies!!!

We are going on 3rd September, which is exactly one month until i get married!!!! Soooooo excited!!!!

Mrsbelcher2015 - Thats exciting about seeing the vicar? Have you chosen your hyms and readings now? We are hopefully meeting out vicar next month to discuss the same stuff (although he has yet to email me back and confirm a date!) I love that you have a wedding spreadsheet, I do too, and I would be completely lost without it! It has everything on it! One tab contantains the guest list and everything to do with their accomodation, addresses, arrival time dietary requirments etc and then the other tab is the money tab - i dont really enjoy looking at it, but everything is on there and it shows me when deposits and various other things are due!

AnnaMolly - I always procrastinate when I can! Yesterday was a better day for me, Monday was horrific and I felt like i wanted to quit my job by the end of the day, but thankfully i managed to get through it all and yesterday i starting making some good headway with everything!

Lui - How are you hun? How are things coming along? awesome news about sorting your invites! which ones have you gone for? We order the card to make our table plan last night and the table names too - i think i will start making those at the weekend!

LittleMissPanda - How are you lovely? I am so sorry to hear about your grandma. Sending you lots of hugs for when you need them. Fab news about your makeup trial being wine proof - honestly its the bet kind of resiliance test out there i think!!! You sound like you had a really productive weekend! Feel like i should do some more now!!! I am happy you were able to order your invites! you must be releved to finally have them!

All this talk of cake is making me hungry! we are going to meet with a cake lady this evening to try some samples and view her work! I am realy hoping she can provide us with what we need as I dont know who else to look at using! I really like this lady and her work is amazing and she is local to where our venue is!

I’m good, everything is going good for once which makes me happy, how are you lovely? We got some black pocket folds and the inserts are being made by my H2B work ao the cost is lower than I expected. Just working out how to sort postage. Once I’ve got them sorted I’ll flash them J I’m not sure what the inside design will be yet.

Ohhhhh are you having particular names on your tables? We are just having numbers hopefully somehow. Feels good odd that it’s at this stage now J

Your invites sounds lovely! Definitely do a flash once they are done! I will flash mine, but I'm just putting last minute details to them! How have you found making sure you have all the right information in them? I have 3 double sided inserts for mine!

Our table names are all beach related as we are having a beach theme (in the midlands!) we have bought some mini buckets in pale blue and then we are making flags from wooden dowels and card and having the names printed on them! Our centre pieces are sand, shells and a 40cm hire lighthouse!

I wish I was more excited about it; but work just gets in the way! I am happy to have booked the hen do though! Although no one has text me back yet about it!

Cake wise, we have have a three tier one like the below, but with pale blue ribbon instead! (Excuse the photo size, again I'm on the ipad and don't know how to adjust!)

Hi ladies, sorry for not responding yesterday I pretty much made a blanket fort and ignored the world!
I am a little bit panicky about giving notice/receiving certificates now =/
My H2B and I gave notice in October last year (literally as soon as we could!) in our local registry office, but they didn't mention anything about certificates. We are getting married in the same registry office, so I'm wondering if they just keep hold of them? Does anyone know...??

Lui - That's exactly what annoyed me about the car going wrong, it could've waited 9 months but no...it just had to blow last week one things for sure, I never fully appreciated how easy it is to spend so much money on a wedding.
You should definitely have a girly dress up session with your BM's, it was so much fun and it was great seeing everything come together (granted my BM doesn't currently have a dress as the one we bought doesn't fit, but I've left it with her and my MOH to deal with as I simply cannot handle anything else at the moment)
How are the centrepieces coming along? It's nice that your H2B is going to help. I get a very blank stare whenever I ask what we should have for centrepieces! I think I may have to draft in another friend to help me...

LMP I notice you're in Wiltshire. We gave notice at the Swindon registry office before Christmas and are also getting married in the same district and they didn't say anything to us about being sent certificates after giving notice, or not to my knowledge... thought that might help if you gave notice in the same place xx

Half the products have arrived just waiting on H2b now, although today he dropped the bombshell that he wants to new job, I said I’d help him find one on the condition we order the inserts first of all as anywhere else would double the costing. Sounds horrible but I can’t afford any more than what we have set aside, just means he has to pull his finger out and design things sooner rather then later.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh your centre pieces sound amazing!! Love the idea of the beach theme! This is the best place to have it being the furthest away from any beach so it’ll be nice and different.

I know what you mean, working is getting in the way of things and its annoying when trying to plan, plus Im spending 3 days a week running 8k+ so I really don’t have any free time! Without any holiday booked until my hen do in August every weekend is being taken up and all I want is just to laze around in my pjs!

What made you do your own hen do? My friends thought I was crazy sorting out my own but I’m glad im not the only one who has arranged it.

LMP – Its the way of the world though isn’t it. I remember that quote from Bridget Jones “when one thing in your life goes well another part falls apart.” This is honestly true and I know the car is going to be the one thing that set things tits up.

I don’t blame you for letting the bridesmaids and MOH sort something out, by the sounds of it, you have done alot for them so its best that they do something! I’m making H2B help me because if he doesn’t he will have a very stressed Fiancé on his hands, he knows when im stressed I get poorly and tired and its not worth that so a little help goes a long way. Plus i am a little bit hot headed at times so its easier to help then have a fight!

Hope your h2b starts helping you out! I think men forget that its also their wedding as well.

I feel like i am loosing the will to live with work today a word of advise for anyone looking to change jobs - dont go into recruitment! it may sound great, but it certianly has its pitfalls! Trouble is, I dont know what else i could do for a job! And its probably not the best time to be looking for a new job with the wedding coming up in 8 months!

LittleMissPanda - We met the cake lady last night, and she was delighful. We are just waiting for the quote, and providing it isnt too expensive, we shall definitely be booking her as me and my oh really really liked her and her work!

Lui - The reason I planned my own hen do, is partially becuase I am a control freak, and because i wanted to make sure it was something i would enjoy. As im sure i have mentioned, i dont really like going out to bars/clubs and i'd feel really worried that the girls wouldnt have a nice time. So i know we all like spas, its close to my house (I hate traveling and being away from home) and i know that I will really enjoy myself becase we wont have to leave the spa as it has everything we need their! They have champagne (even thought its a heath spa) and it just is something that i would enjoy. There is only 4 of us going (i dont have many close friends) so it'll be really nice! What made you plan yours?

AnnaMolly - Thank you, booking is yesterday cheered me up, although today i feel rubbish again.

Oh no, hope your day perks up! Oh dear guess I’m going to be in trouble as I’m moving from a customer service role into a HR/Recruitment role. Eep! Oh well I’m busy enough with the two jobs I’m doing at the moment so I feel your pain!!

That makes complete sense to me. I did my own as I knew what I wanted to do and as much as I love my bridesmaids they are a bit slow at getting things sorted so I needed to know what we were doing pretty early on due to budget reasons so I could make sure I wouldn’t be short and I can still save a decent amount without effecting my bills also I am completely a control freak and need to be organised all the time or I just lose the plot!!

How was your cake lady? Did you try any of them?

The cake lady was lovely, we tried vanilla maderia, lemon drizzle and red velvet and i think we will be having all three! We are just waiting for her to send a quote through and as long as it is reasonable then we will definitely be going with her!

Then I just have my flowers left to sort! I want artifical ones, but its difficult finding someone to do them. The florists are coming back really expensive and i cant find any that i like online!

Think i may to have try a few more florists to see if i can find the right ones!

I am sure you wil love your new job - usually i like mine, but its just lately its been so busy, and stressful that I just think that life is worth more than this!

I found the artificial flowers were just as expensive as real ones too, it’s really strange. Have you thought about heading to etsy? People normally have little shops on there. It’s a nice little go to place for me whenever I need anything.

IMO you and Sparkly Bear are lucky that you got to sort out your own hen do's, I wanted to organise mine but my MOH & BM aren't letting me know what's going on. Not gonna lie, its freaking me out! As for my OH, he says that he doesn't understand weddings so it's best I sort stuff out =/

Little Miss Panda - friend and I are now speaking to each other amicably and she has paid me back for her hen party flight, but I don't think we will see each other any more. She has not said sorry once yet, which is a bit sad

Ladies - re artificial flowers, have you thought of making your own? My MOH did all of hers, including the garlands, bouquets, centrepieces etc and is going to be giving me a hand with mine. I've just been hammering eBay all week stockpiling artificial flowers of all descriptions within my colour theme, got the oasis, metres of ribbon, floristry tape, foliage etc etc!! I have spent a grand total of £65, which includes delivery. I know the hard part will be putting it all together but as a cheapskate, I don't mind putting in the man hours! ?

Hi LMP I think that’s why i’m so snotty at the moment, had the snots since Christmas and just haven’t been able to shift them. I’m taking a week off from running this week but will still eat healthy and try and walk loads to compensate.

He hasn’t started yet, think he may start next week as he is working this weekend which sucks L. Although I’m hoping to pick up my wedding ring this weekend, can’t wait for that.

Same OH isn’t into the organising side like you, but it does mean you get what you want so silver cloud to it and all. I couldn’t not know like I said mainly due to money.

Ohhh sparklybear, my friends went to that, he said its best to just go with it as its teachings about the bible and working on relationship, he didn’t agree with alot of it but said he did it just to please the priest so that they could get married in the church. He said it’s got alot of old morale and what not, hopefully yours is better.

How was your weekend?

Urm...it was interesting!
My dad and my FMIL met for the 1st time and she was so rude! She dropped by unannounced at our house on Saturday and got stroppy because my sister BIL niece and dad were there...it's like she expects to be invited over every time we have guests =/
Now she used to be really nice but lately its like some random switch has gone off in her brain and she's turned into a monster. It caused a row between me and my OH because I couldn't believe the way she talked to my family
Then we had our wedding tasting yesterday which was lovely, but the table plan I'd worked really hard on is now useless because they've changed their tables and now only have square tables of 4 not round tables of 6. So all my centrepieces need to be changed as well. Naturally my OH doesn't understand the problem and what the heck is a centrepiece anyway? Excuse me whilst I go and smack my head against a wall...

Can't wait to see what this week brings

Aww no thats not good. I wonder what made her switch like that. Do you think that she feels left out and she just can’t vocalise it in any way so the only way she can get her anger out is just being rude? It’s just a thought.

I can why you’d argue over that, hopefully she bucks her ideas up and starts acting like a grown up. Weddings hey, bring out the worst in people!!

Why have they changed from round to square? Doesn’t that now mean more tables and harder to seat people? What were your centrepieces going to be?

H2B’s don’t get the little details I swear! I guess these are the things people don’t tell you when you work on getting married.

Sorry I know that was a totally pointless rant but I do feel better for it!
I've got no idea why FMIL is acting so out of character, H2B is inviting her round for coffee this week so hopefully we can get to the bottom of it. I'm planning on making a big show of asking for her opinion on all the little things I've bought and asking for her advice etc to see if that helps. I think you may be right and she might feel a bit left out.

Apparently the venue had to get new tables as their old ones were looking really shabby and they've found square tables easier in terms of place settings etc. I can have as many or few tables as I need but it's a case now of re-doing the plan and OH now wants a top table as well which I'm not keen on...
Why do weddings make people go crazy?? I can't imagine I've ever thrown a strop over a table before =/

I know right!! Who would have thought that you would worry about such things like tables or even matching table clothes ect. It’s crazy.

I think you are doing the right thing with your MIL, then if she still carries on you know you have one everything possible to involve her and that shes just got some issues that she needs to work on.
