LittleMissPanda - Thanks. I need to have the dress shortened a little at the front, the straps shortened a bit so it fits more neatly over the chest, and the train needs to be shortened as it is very long at the moment.
And thanks Happy Polly - I think it looks fine without too, but my mum suggested it which made me wonder.
I've been busy today writing a 2nd draft of the guest list as we've had a couple of people say already they can't make it. Also trying to work out a way to create a TARDIS invitation which isn't too complicated to DIY, or think of an equally geeky alternative.
MrsWatkinsToBe - I really don't think you need the ribbon but you could put it on and see what it looks like. It might add to the overall effect or it might be too much.
To be honest I too can over do things; I also tried to do a mock up centrepiece over the weekend with an immersed rose using one of our vases and I ended up loving it. So now I'm tempted to have the immersed rose and the flowers at the top. I think it might become too much. I was originally going to have LED lights in the vase with just the flowers on top.
Sorry about
the loopy pics, I am posting this using my phone.
We
have also been trying to finalise the final wave of invites and inserts. We are using the vistaprint folded business cards for the inserts. I have to say thst even i like the finished look. We still have to decide whether to have the line about children not being invited. I think if most of the family outside the UK cant come ghen I think people here can bring their kids.
We are also trying to device clever sentences for asking for money as gifts but we are findjng the whole thing rather embarrassing. But then we don't really fancy another toaster or picture frames.
Im sorry but that whole last post is jumbled up. The pictures are meant to have come after my post about centrepieces not a reference to MrsWatkinsToBe.
How are we all getting on today? I have now officially found my wedding fairy godmother!! My MOH, BM & I went to see a seamstress to try and sort out my BM's dress (it's about 5 inches too small, even though we ordered the correct dress size), and she is an absolute bloody genius ? My BM has been so down since we discovered her dress doesn't fit, but since we saw The Magic Lady (BM's nickname for her) she's been on cloud nine! BM got told straight away that not only does the back not fit (duh) but she was also not filling out the front properly, and unless she did there was not point altering the back as the straps at the front would still be gaping. Turns out BM has been wearing underwear that's 3 sizes too big!! So she got put into correct fitting undies and BOOM she was suddenly turned into Katie Price!! So BM is now arranging a shopping trip and cannot wait to show off her figure, now she knows how I'm so happy she's got bags more confidence now
The Magic Lady's told us to go back in July, and that she'll measure BM then before changing her dress into a lace up back. She's also going to make my OH's & best man's ties and also a sash with matching hair band for my niece, who is a flower girl. All because I happened to mention that cornflower blue is such a difficult colour to match...
And yet there's more... When she asked to see a picture of my dress I asked her what shapewear/bra she'd recommend, and was told that I wouldn't need any of that if I'd let her alter my dress so it actually fits me properly. I was stunned as when I bought it from the bridal shop I was told it fit perfectly, turns out I've lost weight since then so the top part of the dress isn't giving me the support it should. She's promised me she'll store my dress and give me regular dress fittings as she knows I'm trying to lose weight, so no matter what size I am come the day I should feel confident and happy
And to top everything off, one of the guys I work with has offered to help me make my own RSVP's and menus! I've written them all out and he's going to take the heart pattern from my invites, and with some computing skills I do not possess, pop it onto the templates I've made. All I need to do then is print them out
Lui - I really like the toiletry basket sign you've made, I'm going to do something similar once I know what size basket I'll be using. Fingers crossed the test print comes back ok, I think early May is plenty of time Your earrings are totally fab!! I definitely want a confetti shot, I saw how nice it was at my sisters wedding so I thought it would be nice. Works out about £30 with the company I like...
AnnaMolly - I think pumpkins are a lovely idea, don't put yourself down
MrsWatkinsToBe - I had little look on google (can anyone tell I don't do any work?!) and found a whole page of Tardis invite images... https://www.google.com/search?q=tardis+wedding+invitations&espy=2&biw=981&bih=583&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=krDIVIvYOu7G7AbV7oHoDA&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAg Hope this helps
Happy Polly - I love both of thos pics, which ones do you think you'll go with? Am glad you like your invites, have you found a little money poem that you like yet?
This all sounds amazing! She does sound like a wonderful woman
and the guy at work sounds lovely too!
I’m so glad that things are starting to go your way now ? I
hope with my seamstress I find a magic lady like yours hehe.
Everything sounds more and more exciting for you!! Can’t
wait to see everything put together including your invites! I’m really excited
for you hehe!
Thanks lovely! Im pretty happy with them, stuff went in
today to get the test print done so will see how that comes out, once I get the
thumbs up im going full steam ahead hehe.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh where have you been looking for
confetti if you don’t mine me asking? I’ve had a nosey but still unsure. I haven’t
really factored in the cost to be honest!
Happy polly – Those centre pieces are beautiful, I’m not
sure if it’s what you’re going for but reminds me a bit of beauty and the
beast, where he has the rose under the casing.
Mrswatkinstobe – I cant wait to see your tardis invites!!!
So excited for a flash of these!
Thanks Lui, I'm really ridiculously pleased with how those two things have gone! Fingers crossed it's onwards & upwards from now on... I'm sure your seamstress will be lovely, do you actually need much doing to your dress? My friend and I are hoping to bling up the invites this weekend so I'll definitely flash some on Monday, don't think I'll have the RSVP and menu inserts for a few weeks thou. Am aiming to send the invites around the middle of March...
I've been looking at this website for confetti http://www.shropshirepetals.com/shop/1_Natural_Petal_Confetti?packagingid=62&qty=2#.VOX1Lvmz4rJ Everything they make is biodegradable, it looks lovely in photos and you can make your own mix. I've made my own and I love how it looks! I bought one sachet as a trial run and will definitely be ordering more before the day. It works out about £30 for me, as I'm buying it for the ladies only, and will put it into the same organza bags I'm using for my favours, my mum is going to hand them out at the venue before I arrive
Ooh before I forget ... here's a flash of my centrepieces!!
We're going to use LED tealights, but I couldn't find them in all the wedding related muddle yesterday xx
Definitely
onwards and upwards for you my lovely! Just think that this time in 2 weeks you’ll
be closer to the 6 month mark which is awesome although isn’t that super scary
thinking about how close it really is? ?
March
is a good time to send them out, gives you loads of time to get them back!
Thanks
lovely! I saw another company like this but they were super expensive and it
started putting me off the idea but looking at these they are not too bad. The
plan that you have is awesome, will definitely have a look as I’m already
loving the tuxedo mix of petals!
I
think I may need a bit doing as I’ve lost weight and inches since I last tried
on my dress, this was over a year ago now plus i need a bustle fitting so that
I can dance in the evening as I can’t be doing with a wrist tie. I don’t get my dress until early September, only
6 months until then! Eep!
Those
centrepieces are beautiful!! They are going to look amazing on the day!! Loe everything
about them, nice and elegant. ❤️
Loving all the flashes and pictures from everyone. Makes me a tad jealous that I'm not doing all the centrepieces and the whole shebang ha x
Has anyone ever been to the Wedding Dress Factory outlet? There's one in London and one in Bolton I think. They're opening one up tomorrow by me so me and my mam are going on Sunday, just to have a look ? I'm not sure if it's too early to get a dress though? She wants me in a full length one but I am still after my tea length one. Currently loving these in BHS, but I need to have a look and try:
A girl who I work with is going to do my bouquet and my BM (my BF) bouquet too. We're having bits of red so do I go for the obvious red roses or my favourite flowers - chrysanthemums?
Oooh and my big news - we have agreed on a place to go for a meal. We were going to go to our favourite pub but I discovered yesterday that I go to toddler swimming with the wedding co-ordinator of the hotel where we originally wanted to get married but couldn't afford it....she overheard me talking to the swimming instructor talking about it and said oooh I work there....anyway she has arranged for us and our small guests to have a FREE conference room at the hotel for the day. Woohoo! It's only small but will fit us in nicely :-)
Firstiebride83
– That’s amazing news and so lovely of the woman!! Yet for the little
conference room! As you’re in the conference room you could look at doing centrepieces
if you wanted to if you feel like you wanted to. Still that’s wonderful
wonderful news!
Ohhh
your flowers sound lovely, I would go with what you love, I’m all for the
chrysanthemums, love being a little bit different so this would look awesome,
plus the different shades of reds... I’ m in love hehe!
That
first dress is stunning!! Love everything about that! I would definitely go and
try on both styles as you may decide that you want a long dress after trying
them on or your mum sees you and moves to your side with the tea length and you
reaffirm your love for the tea length dress.
I
haven’t been to a dress outlet shop, but my friend who got married in 2013 did,
there’s one in Leicester which is only 30 mins away from us. She raved about
the place and got a stunning dress for a bargain.
Thanks Lui. So glad I found this site, esp this thread. We're not telling anyone till nearer the time (family issues ️?️) so it's soooo good to be able to speak to others!x
Everything is coming together, just trying to budget for everything really! I've already sorted our cake out, now venue so it's all good.
Lui - I can't wait to hit the 6 month mark (roll on March 3rd!) but I'm slightly scared too! We've decided to try and send invites after my birthday (March 10th), and we've asked for RSVP's by 31st July so will have plenty of time to chase up stragglers Some of the confetti companies I found were horrifically expensive, but I read somewhere on Hitched a glowing recommendation for Shropshire Petals so I thought I'd have a look and I really liked all the choices, plus I didn't think the prices were too bad. These are the bags I'm using, gotta love Amazon... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CQA6FZ6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 I thought the confetti colours would show through quite well, and I'm using the same ones to put our Lindt chocolate favours in as well. Ooh well done you for losing weight and inches And I agree with you about wrist ties, a few dresses I tried on had these and I didn't like them. My dress doesn't have a bustle, the train can be swept to the right side and fastened with a button by my hip, the blingy bit of detail then folds over the button. Much easier for my MOH & BM to deal with as I don't doubt they'll be drunk by this point! Am glad you think my centrepieces are elegant, I'm really pleased with them (yippee for The Range lol).
firsttimebride83 - ooh don't be jealous that you don't have centrepiece stress, I wouldn't wish it on anybody :p I've never been to The Wedding Dress Factory Outlet, please let us know how you get on I love those two dresses btw, not boring at all! My sister was actually contemplating getting the Sofia one for her wedding last year. Hm that's a difficult flower choice, I personally would go with roses but if chrysanthemums are your favourite then go for it! That's excellent news about your free hotel conference room, I'm sure it'll be perfect for you I know all about family issues my lovely so any time or anything you want to talk/rant about feel free
I
know the feeling with family issues; don’t think there is one bride who hasn’t had
one family issue. Sounds like you are
really on top of things, which is really good! It’ll fly by before you know it.
We are always here to share excitement and rant/listen together ?
LMP
– It’ll be here so fast, I mean next week is the end of Feb.! So scary how fast
this year has started to go, worrying isn’t it! ?
Oh
that’s plenty of time; I know what you mean about stragglers, I’m totally ready
and expecting stragglers! That is the one thing that will annoy me the most I
think! Hehe! We’ve decided to drive our local ones for delivery to save on
postage too. Luckily everyone we will see at one point so it’s not too bad.
Love
the bags; those with the confetti in are going to look so lovely and delicate!
I see the theme that’s running here is elegance and delicate which is awesome!
I would have loved to go down that route but colours that go with it, are just
not me. The range does have some amazing little bargains, it’s where I found my
pens to draw on glass
Thanks
lovely, been on a mission for about 2 years to get myself down, saw a photo of
myself at work once and it really got how big I had gotten so have just gone working
my arse off to get it off and be a size I’m happy with for my wedding. To be
honest, no matter what size anyone is I think all brides feel the same about
that...
Ok
need to stop going off on a tangent there! ?
Ohhhhh
a button, that’s clever, wish I thought of that, maybe I’ll make them make a
button and hoop as I have buttons going down the back of the dress, as your
right, myself and bridesmaids are going to be far too drunk to try and sort it
out and then there’s the vision of H2B almost falling over my train..THE
HORROR! Haha!
I can't believe Feb has gone by so quick, normally it drags from Christmas to my OH's birthday (last week) but it's gone in a flash! Hope the rest of the year doesn't do the same ? Ah glad I'm not the only one who's going to hand deliver the local invites I totally agree with you, waiting for late RSVP's is going to bug me ... if worst comes to worst we can always call people to demand a response haha!
Someone asked me the other day what my theme was and I honestly didn't think I had one, but you've summed it up perfectly! Elegance and delicate, I love how that sounds ? I think your theme is really cool, I love seeing how different everyone is Pretty much everything for my centrepieces came from The Range, was definitely a case of right place right time!
Well I think its amazing that you've done so well, you should be really proud of yourself. Although I think you've got a point, I'm sure most brides have the odd "I feel horrible/fat" moment
Oh I didn't think of the button, it's just what my dress has. I'll take a few pictures over the weekend so you can see what I mean, if it'll work for your dress I'd say go for it as it'll a lot be easier. Drunk brides and bridesmaids are the way to go :p I've told my OH if he falls over my train I'll be on the floor laughing ... not the best way to start a marriage lol!
Got distracted from planning invites by a sudden idea to try and get some best wishes for the wedding from Doctor Who people. Going to try and keep it a surprise for H2B.
Well went to see the free room we've been given at the hotel for the meal with my mam and we ended up booking a civil ceremony there too instead of the registry office. Oops. There's only about £100 in price difference though! x
Hi everyone, hope you all had lovely weekends and that you are having much nicer weather than I'm currently experiencing!
Mrs Watkins To Be, I love your invitation mock up it looks so cool! I hope your H2B likes the good luck messages from Doctor Who that's such a sweet idea
firsttimebride83, that's so good you like your wedding venue and yay for booking your ceremony too

Hello ladies not been on this thread for a few days, so much happens when you don't come on! Those Dr Who invitations are amazing! So original as well!
I had a busy day yesterday with flowers - wow did I get in over my head on that one! About 10 hours later, with hands cut to ribbons, I just about managed my bouquet, 4 BMs and about 10 button holes, plus the top table/alter decoration. What do you think? Please be honest, if you think they're sh!t I've still got plenty of time to redo them! My theme is Autumn and my colours are pretty much what you see on the pic.
My bouquet on the left, the centre piece in the middle and two of the BM ones on the right (I've not bound the stems yet on the BM ones).
Sorry I have been away I’ve been really sick this weekend.
Actually cancelled the Gym and everything which in my world means I’m ill.
Still a bit ill but trying to get back to normal! Instead of running I spent my
weekend passed out on my bed as I needed sleep while H2B and Best man
rearranged our front room or wallowing on the sofa as my ear aches form being
so blocked. Right now I am the sexiest person I know hahaha!
LMP – Your theme is awesome and I’m glad I was able to help
you realise what you were doing J
Thank you lovely, hopefully the button will give me some ideas as I think i
need to get in gear and think about that.
Mrswatkinstobe – Your invites are amazing!! I love
everything about them!! You’re so talented haha! I would have never been able
to do something like that and fab idea on getting the Dr who messages, love
that Tom Baker was the first person to come back. ?
Firsttimebride83 – Yey to the ceremony!! All coming together for you now!!
Stephied9384 – They are beautiful, big big big, actually sod
that MASSIVE well done on them as they look beautiful! Seriously stunning! You should
be proud of your efforts there! Hope your hands heal ok!
Side note, it seems i started a big Vivienne Westwood surge
in the shoe section hehehe! So nice to see all the happy brides who were happy
to have them! AnnaMolly if your lurking about your flats are lovely, I really
want to get some flat ones just for every day ?

Oh Lui I'm so pleased you said that! I'd sent the pic to my friends and they'd all said they looked nice but I really needed an outsider's honest opinion. Thank you so much sweetie, I'll relax a bit now ha ha ❤️
Thanks lovely, just on my lunch break, having a nosey at
other things I can tick off from my work desk. ?
Thinking about getting a hanger for my dress maid, not sure
yet!
How are you with your planning Stephied?

Ha ha, I literally kill the internet in here on my lunch hour, don't really have time when I get home after work!
Not too bad really, all the big things sorted and booked, mum is getting cake, I have friends doing the invites and we need to dress OH but I think that's it really left to do?! I couldn't wait to get stuck into those flowers but there came a point yesterday, sat on the living room floor surrounded by flowers, oasis and bits of rubbish that I thought....what have I done here?! But at least that's something else done now!
How's your planning going hun? Scary to think we're almost in March already isn't it!
I’m the same, when I get home I’m too busy faffing around
with home life and catching up with friends or H2B to check things. I’ve done
so much in my lunch time at work.
Sounds like you’re on the way to having everything done J I
fear that’s what I’m going to be like when I start piecing my invites together
when H2B finally gets them sorted and printed.
I think I’m about the same almost. FIL2B is creating the
cake so will have to drive back down south to taste more when we have the time
(I actually don’t know when that will be!), flowers are all done and living at
my parents house, bridesmaids and flower girl dresses are now sorted, I’m
sorted apart from hair and nails. We’ve got our right and notice came in the
post the other day so I’m heading that to the venue at the weekend. I managed to get all the gifts for
Bridesmaids, flower girls, MOTB and MIL2B which I’m happy about.
I think all I have left to do is mock up the main part of
the centrepieces which I may the weekend after next as H2B is working late and
I’m useless by myself, then I have the ladies over to make the flowers to go
around the centre pieces. So hopefully they should be sorted by the end of
March fingers crossed. Just need to get the invites completed, put together and
sent out which I’m a little stressed over, even though they are not going out
until early May we haven’t got our inserts printed and I still need to put them
together and wax stamp them which is going to take me a while.
Obviously H2B has to get his suit but I’m not even getting
involved with that.
After that all I need to do is pay things off and have my
dress fitting and my taster meal at my venue.
Also our videographer is not coming back to us. That’s a long story
though. Get my flower girl shoes nearer the time and decide if they are having
petals or a wand.
I think mu main worry is how I’m going to finish paying for
everything as its right down to the edge. But hey wouldn’t be a wedding if you didn’t
have to worry about finances!
Ha sorry that went on longer than I expected lol! Also I’m
super scared that its almost March already and I feel like I have shed loads to
do still. ?
Love your flowers Stephied, they're really beautiful. Lovely autumnal colours.
I also love the tardis invitations MrsWatkinsToBe, very imaginative. Very cool that you got a note from Dr who too!
I hope your feeling better Lui, I think I had something similar. My brain felt like it was going to explode. I'm going to brave a run this evening, but I fear it won't go well!
I’m feeling the exact same as you about tonight, but once it
done its done, just have to get back out there. I’m going for the approach of
the quicker I do it the quicker it will be over.
