October 2015 brides....

Hi all,

Wow! You all seem to be doing amazingly well!!

I don't get a lot of chance to come on here but this is how I'm doing so far:

Booked:

- We have our venue booked with our final payment due in April (I think)
- I have my dress and bought my accessories today (yay!)
- We have our TOG and band booked, both for great rates
- We started looking at invites this weekend (although after not saying much all afternoon my OH said 'it's not how I would have done it' after we finished sorting what we wanted to do...grr). We hope to have these ready for the end of the month to send out!
- The cake is being made by my MIL2B
- We have booked our registrar and have given notice (although I nearly had to make another booking as I forgot my passport and had to sprint home to get it lol)
- My sister is taking me to the wedding and it's all in one place so no need for anything extravagant
- We have chosen people to do the readings and they are sorting out what they want to say
- We have chosen our first dance song and know the style of music we want for the ceremony but still need to sort out the actual pieces we want
- We have sorted out the sorts of things we want to do for our stag/hen do and plans are in motion

Not yet booked/bought:
- We are going bridesmaid dress shopping in April
- I have a friend to chat to about flowers - really need to get on that!
- I have seen a couple of MUA that I like the look of but need to book a trial
- We are in the process of booking our honeymoon and find it outrageous that we can't get an extension on our credit limit despite having a great credit score and more than 3 times the amount needed for the honeymoon (we just want the added security and insurance a credit card brings)
- We know the sorts of things we want for our table decs and will start buying these over the summer
- I still need to get my wedding shoes and really want some Harriet Wilde ones but they are too pricey!!
- The lads are sorting out suits etc soon but the best man has done his knee in so that will need to wait
- We are getting rings in May/June time

Compared to all of you I seem quite behind!! The good thing is that we have saved a lot and don't think that money will hold us back (but we are sticking to our budget!).

On a separate note, is there anyone else out there getting married on Thursday 29th October? I really want a date twin!

We are planning on sending our invites out at the beginning of April. It will all be real then!

Booking the honeymoon was very exciting! But I'm worried I'll be going to Mauritius with work before the I go with my husband. I want us to experience if together. My job means we had to discount a lot of other destinations as I've already been there.

I'm hoping out entrance music is long enough as I've got my heart set on it. Our church is tiny. It only holds 60 people and the entrance is half way down the aisle, there isn't a secret entrance at the back. I've got 5 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls. I wanted them to go down first bow I'm not sure.

Next thing on the list is flowers, so looking forward to getting those out of the way!xx

Lui - Thank you for the hugs, i definitely need them! It been a horrible couple of weeks! I dont really want to take the money from H2B parents, but I am thankful there offered. Finding a job could potential be quite difficult becuase of the type of area i specalise in; jobs dont come up that often and I think that is what is also worrying me; ive been looking for the past week weeks and only seen two, I just worry about how long it will take to find one that I like. How are your wedding plans coming along? I think I saw a flash of yoru invites, they look gorgeous! When are you planning on sending them?

MrsWatkinsToBe - Thank you lovely. I had an interview Friday, but i think becuase it was my first one, i was quite nervous and i dont think i articulated myself as well as I have done when previously interviewing. All i can do is keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best! How are you wedding plans coming along? Thats exciting you will hopefully having a planning meeting with the venue soon!

Sara Poppy - We are sending our invites at the beginning of April, Im getting quite excited now and it all seems a bit more real as there are quite a few things to do! I am sure Mauritius will be special with your OH even if you do go with work. Will you be going to the same hotel with work as your OH? On a ositive side, as least you can scope out the island and it will make you even more excited for when you go with your OH! I can't wait to go! Where do you fly from? We are going from Gatwick directly to Mauritius, I don't enjoy flying so a stop over wasnt an option for us! I just want to get the flight over and done with! Do you know how many hours ahead Mauritius are? What entrance Music are you having? We are having the traditional bridal march and i am having my bridesmaids go first. If you have a chat with the vicar and the organist if you have one and maybe they can just elongate your music choice to fit you all going down the aisle?

Hello all!

Im at work bored because I can't access my emails... which literally means I can't do any work unless I get a client who calls in....

so... this means i'm just internet browsing. problem is... this usually (and it has!) leads to me buying new things/changing my mind about things I have for the wedding.

I have bought more ribbon today as I am now on the 3rd idea for decorating my favour boxes!

I have also bought little white boxes to put my invites in... because I am now going with the idea of wrapping the invites in tissue paper and sticking down with personalised wedding sticker (which I ordered yesterday ? ) and placing into a box... which I may or may not stick a butterfly on!

I ordered matching inserts for my invites with extra info on

it's so dangerous for me to have time on my hands!

Who mentioned entrance music? I was worried about this too. We've got a string quartet (well, a string duo, which was cheaper!) and I would really like Wagner's bridal march, but I don't think it would be long enough for my two page boys and 4 BMs, in addition to me and Dad? I equally like Canon in D, do you think I could have Canon playing for everyone, then change to Wagner when I'm ready to "come on down"?!

If not, I'll just have Canon, the extended version ha ha x

Happy Polly - Your centrepieces look amazing, really lovely colours. Are those aqua beads in the vase? I'm using those for my centrepieces and they don't ever seem to shrink =/ It's been over 2 weeks since I made the mock ups of my centrepieces and the beads are still full size!

LMP – Thank you lovely!! Not yet, still kicking him! After this is the origami flowers and building the centre pieces. H2B has to spray paint a lot of things (when he can be arsed – so that may be my job too soon!).

Hope everyone is ok! I’ve been having a right issue recently, so in Jan took my car to be MOT’d and everything was fine, then last week my car cut out three times on the way to work so had to take it to the garage. Turned out it was just a senor playing up so the garage cleaned it and went off. Then I had to have new brakes (it was an advisor on my mot anyway). Everything was fine until my indictor stopped working, went to change the bulb and boom, the connection was playing up and now the electrics need to be looked at. My dad and I just had the conversation of that it would happen this year when I’m skating thin ice already with money. It’s such a pain in the arse.

I’ve also been sick again (it went around the office) so I brought my flower girl dresses, I changed my mind on what I wanted to get them so I brought them something ivory and sparkly. Finally saw them yesterday after they were delivery and I love them!! They were a bargain from BHS as they had a 20% discount so got two dresses for £40 including delivery! So happy.

Been looking at my list and only have a dew more things to pay such as the photographer, videographer, seating chart and the last bits for the favours and then the rest of my dress and photobooth and invites, hotel and venue.

Feels strange that there is not much more to pay for and all the major bits have been done. Still thinking about writing my own vows. Not 100% sure about that yet.

Anyways I’ve waffled on forever now! Hope you guys are ok!

LittleMissPanda - Thanks - I handwrote about 30 letters which I sent off last week (complete with SAEs), contacted a couple of people via their agents email and also contacted a few of our favourite brands via website contact forms. I know that responses to the letters could take months depending on when the people get to see them hence why I sent them so far in advance. I heard from Lego today though and they said they'll get a card sorted and in the post to us within next couple of days which is pretty cool :-)

Lui - Hope you are feeling better now. My fiancé is full of flu at the moment so really hoping he doesn't share it! That's annoying about your car - I had major car woes just before Christmas so understand how you feel. Any photos of the flower girl dresses?

FirstTimeBride83 - Hope the dress is as lovely as you hope - have you tried it on yet, any photos?

I think we've decided on my entrance music - part of the theme from the first of the new Star Trek films - geeky I know but we both like it. Fits well with our choices of having the Game of Thrones, an instrumental version of the Firefly theme and an extended version of the Fringe theme as our music while we sign the register and having the 11th Doctor theme for when we walk out :-) Table names and place names next on the list of things to decide on I think.

How are you?

I'm now trying to get my butt in gear to design some invitations. I was motivated by seeing yours the other day!

My mum has also been looking round some florists to see what we could get table decoration wise which is good. It's nice if her to take the lead on these things as she does know about flowers when I know nothing!

Although I do love these David Austin roses for my bouquet... so pretty.

Those flowers are stunning! How could you not fall in love with these. They are stunning. Are you just going to have flower centre pieces?

Have you had any ideas for your invites?

I'm thinking about maybe just keeping it simple with flower centre pieces but I haven't decided for sure. I'll see what the florist can do I think.

I haven't really got any ideas for invites yet, just searching for inspiration really!

Mixed success today from my letters.

A signed, dedicated piccy from David Tennant wishing us good luck and Allons-y :-) Super pleased with this.

However, also received one sae back sealed but empty, and another back unsealed and empty (the unsealed one was in a royal mail bag saying sorry :-\ ) so not sure who those 2 were sent to... Guess I'll have to wait and see what else comes back.

Have thought of a few more people to write to so will send out a second batch next week. I may put the celebrities initials inside the sae envelope so i can identify any empties that come back!

On a wedding front, have also bought some Kilner type jars from Poundland to put sweets in to go on the tables at the evening part of the reception :-)

Hello! My mam has the photos on her phone, I'll upload later?. The dress was absolutely stunning, it felt right and was very me. Only prob was it was too big!! It was massive. I've sent it back and reordered the size down, so hopefully it will be here next week.

I'm on my fourth night of nightshift, I'll get tonight out the way and catch up tomorrow! x

finally got H2B to change the invites and email them to work, so they should be ordered this week!

Now just having a flap about a hair dresser and if I can A) find someone I like and B) afford it. It was planning to be a wedding gift but that changed when the person realised they couldn't do the styles I wanted.

How are we all?

I dont have any updates in relation to the job search. I had an interview last week, and it went well, although I feel i could have articulated my previous positions better, but it was my first interview in a long time and if nothing else I can use it as experience. I should hear back from this job today/tomorrow. I also have another interview tomorrow for a different position. Other than that, there arent many jobs out there suited to me, and it is a lil worrying!

In wedding related news I have made the menu's for my tables, they are so adorable with blue pearls (obviously not real!) stuck on them, I wouod flash, but its on my phone and I am currently on my works laptop! We have also started printing out the inserts for our invitations. We need three inserts printing and they are double sided so are taking a little longer than we would like to get them cut down to size, but they are coming out and looking gorgeous! They will definitely be ready to send on April 2nd! I have also painted some wooden dowel for my flag poles for the table names and we have made the flags too!

How is everyone else getting on?

We received our invites today. The are quite basic but I was so stressed with the whole thing and I just wanted to get them

ordered! We need to do the additional info for them but finding the time is difficult! We have so much going on at the moment. Feeling very stressed!

Here they are... They look like children's invites. Nothing like I wanted at all. It's too much hassle to change them and I think people are just going to throw them away afterwards anyway. The one with the black heart is for the day guests and the red and black ones are for the evening guests. There's nothing obvious on them that states evening invites. This is why you shouldn't let your fiancé take control!!

For what it's worth SarahPoppy, I think they're really cute!

Sparklybear – Glad to hear that you have a second interview. What’s this one for? Hopefully one goes well so that you have a role while you’re saving and then go full force into a job search after.

So I made two of the flowers types that we are thinking of having around the skull. Thought I would flash them here. They are a bit to big as the paper was 15cm by 15cm but we have now brought some smaller paper which we are going to use. After debating both of them we have decided to go with the style that is in all red. Just now have to work out how many myself and the girls need to make on the 21st to go around the skulls.
