Me and OH have just set the date October 17th. Other than the church we have nothing booked so LOADS to do. We have chosen our venue just waiting on official quote (then some negotiating.
I am probably the most unorganised person ever so this is going to be a crazy few months sorting everything out!!
October always seems to be busy for weddings. Weather can still be fantastic and colours are beautiful. Good luck to all October weddings. Great wedding date choice!
17th October was originally my date, but we changed to the 10th because one of the rugby world cup matches was being played in Cardiff so there was no accommodation anywhere.
Hope all your planning goes well - don't forget to keep popping by with updates :-)
OMG I can't believe OH has missed this, he's and all his friends and family are big rugby people! Looks like I have a good chance of incorporating the game in to my day if England are playing. Fingers crossed England pay on the Sunday!!
As for the plans plans I have decided on colours and off for my 2nd time dress shopping on monday. 1st dress shop I found a dress which everything will compare to so hopefully will have that sorted soon!
I'm still unsure about the invited but I think once all the info is printed and they are all bundled together they will be ok. We had a family day out in Portsmouth today so I decided to try on some wedding rings. I think I have found 'the one'!! And it's £250 under budget! My fiancé wants to get one made for me as he has my engagement ring made and he wants it to match but to be honest I think the one we found today is pretty perfect. What do you think?
the next thing on my list is flowers! I keep putting it off but I just need to brave and order them! I'm having foam roses in autumn colours. I want to order them from the brides bouquet as they look amazing!xx
I haven't been on here for ages. Glad to see everyone's plans are going well. It's getting very close now In the last few weeks I've managed to get a few more things done, we've given notice, bought our rings are in the process of getting invites printed! Next job... hen do!! x
SaraPoppy - That ring is beautiful and looks like it could have been made to go with your engagement ring :-) Great find. The roses sound lovely - don't forget to post a flash when you have them.
Lui - I've sent out about 40 letters, but could take months for some replies depending how often they pick up their letters and obviously some may not reply at all. So far I've had 9 replies, so not bad as only a couple of weeks since I sent out the first ones.
I'm so sorry I haven't been on - I've been on nightshift for 11 days out of the last 14, I'm dead on my feet!
I've had my invites, bought DS's suit and picked up my dress today. We also gave notice on Wednesday. I'm just having some tea and I'll try work out how to post a pic.
SaraPoppy, I absolutely love your invites. They're brilliant. And your ring looks perfect.
Sorry if I have missed anyone else, I'll read back
For those who are sending letters to footy clubs and stuff, what are you writing?x
firsttimebride83 - I've written to various celebrities via their agents. I chose people who are in programmes we have watched together or who I know my OH is a huge fan of. I hand-wrote each letter explaining what I was trying to do and asking if they could send a message of good wishes. I mentioned why we are fans and why a message from them would mean so much to us. I also included a SAE for them. The only sports team I contacted was the Welsh rugby team but I'd assume contacting any sports team or player would be the same - I just sent it to the club address.
Thanks MrsW2B, that's a great idea. I'll get cracking on that this week.
Right let's see if this works. This is me wearing the Debenhams dress. Granted it looks better on the model on the website lol, I really need to tone my man arms up. But I love it. It fits perfectly and I feel gorgeous in it. (Please excuse my dodgy hair, I'd had it tied up[View:https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Discussions.Components.Files/27/5545.photo15.pdf:550:0])
So what’s the next thing that everyone is starting to plan/ confirm?
I’ve been spending days making the flowers for the centre
pieces and only still have about 30, so this weekend is the weekend I have my
girls over to create them with me! God knows how many we need!
In between this I now have all my inserts and wax for the
invites so I’ll be finally putting them together ready for delivery between the
18th April (we are heading to see H2B family then so decided to save
postage bring them down with us) and around early May (will be hand delivering
them to people around the area and then posting the ones of people far away).
Look at the sheet I haven’t got much to do but still feels
like I have loads, still at some point needs to take the wedding licence to the
venue and to sort out when everyone is free to book a hair trial and then do a makeup
trial.
Really feel like I’m missing loads, blah not sure, I know we
will head to the venue soon to sort out stuff with the celebrants but that will
probably be nearer the time, I think that’s a pretty big part but that’s it.
So went dress shopping for the second time which was good but defiantly confirmed the dress in shop 1 in 'the one'. So I'm going back on Thursday to try again and order it.
We are still waiting on our venue to send us the quote, but have been in contact with them. Little bit annoying though as I thought it would be sorted by now.
Been in contact with the photographer I want as he is going to the wedding fayre being held at our venue in a couple of weeks and don't want to book now and find out he is doing some offer at the fayre.
I have all the stuff to make me invites just need to print out details of the day before I can put them all together.
What dress did you get rach? We all love a good flash round here
We tried to sort out the hotel accommodation for the night before and night of our wedding at the weekend as our venue doesn't have any. More complicated than expected, so it's still not sorted.
Our new laptop showed up today so I'll be using it to try and design our invitations I hope.
Next on the list is flowers. I want real ones but no idea where to start with finding a florist.
So I nicked your idea MrsW2B and have posted some letters off today. I sent an email to Lego on Sunday and they have sent a reply saying they'll send a card :-)
What a fab idea! x
I need to locate the details for the American sitcoms we love too. :-)
Firsttimebride83 - let us know how you get on with the letters. Lego were great for me too - came within a week. Who else have you contacted? I haven't sent to any Americans yet as need to get some dollar notes so I can enclose a couple to cover the return postage.
Thanks again for the idea, I'm so excited! I've sent letters today to SAFC, LFC, Disney UK, DC Comics, Marvel, Top Gear (!), Ant & Dec and Hollyoaks lol. Will see what I get back! x
Got a booklet with vows in this morning from the registrar, they are not as bad as I thought they would be :-)
