It's been great seeing how you are all getting on.
Sorry to hear about your family matters Little Miss Panda! I do hope everyone gets better very soon!
Lui, I have had rubbish car issues too recently - £650 was the most recent one but am still waiting for other stuff to be done, costing £150 and then there is the fixing of a car door that some idiot reversed into without leaving details...as you can imagine I said no to a quote of £1100 to get that fixed! As much as I want to get rid of the car, I have a loan to pay for it and can't clear it as excess money is going to wedding funds and my car is in negative equity....grr!!
Anywho, onto nicer things!
We are making invites tomorrow...very exciting! We have bought the invitations but are doing all the inside stuff ourselves. Does anyone have any advice on to get them looking great and not amateur?
In other news, we recently paid off our honeymoon and first night hotel which is fab.
We now need to get on with sorting flowers and hair and make up. Most other things are under way or are booked in for certain dates but it all still feels like there is loads to do.
Just out of interest, how many people have started deciding on their table decorations? I'm wondering how much of the nitty-gritty stuff to start planning now!
Morning everyone Thank you for all the hugs and nice words, I do appreciate it xx I'm pleased to say my Grandad has sailed through his first 2 weeks of treatment, so fingers crossed he can keep up the positive attitude. And as for my niece, she is completely back to 'normal' and spent all day Saturday terrorising my OH and chasing him round my mum's garden ? Wedding related news - I've finally done my invitations!! Hooray!! They've all been written, had inserts added and sealed ready for posting ... AT LAST!! I have some pictures of my bunting, invites, veil that I might flash later...
rach046 - I think I might have to have a look at Dune's website now. I have a lovely pair of shoes for the day but I know I won't last all day in them...
LeighB3 - Ooh your hen do sounds fun, I've heard Newcastle is great for hen parties When are you having yours? My hens won't tell me anything about mine, not going to lie I am concerned! That's great you have a hairdresser for £15
Cat D - Sorry to hear your having car troubles as well, aren't they a gigantic pain in the butt! how are you getting on with your invites? I had a work colleague make me a template for my RSVP's and menu inserts, I just pasted that into Word and added my own text. Once they were printed and cut out with a guillotine they looked lovely (if I do say so myself). With regards to nitty gritty ... I have decided on my centrepieces and the majority of my hall decorations, I'm currently trying to locate tablecloths and find a way of hiding a particularly hideous wall at my evening venue!
firsttimebride83 - Your flowers look lovely
Lui - I have finally taken photos of the back of my dress for you, I can either flash them here or pm them to you
Sorry I’ve been away for some time, been sorting out car
stuff. Sorted myself a new car and should be picking it up on Friday if
everything goes to plan, still not getting too excited due to the bad luck I’ve
had recently. Anyways back to it ?
Firsttimebride – Love your flowers. Are you going to use
real flowers or going to use fake? I think either will look stunning.
Cat D – I’ve started my invites and I’m worried they would
look amateurish. Ohhhh where are you off to for your honeymoon? I’ve already
started my centrepieces, only because I have to make hundreds of origami
flowers which does take some time.
Leighb3 – Great news on your hairdresser!! Such a bargain
there for you. I’ve heard Newcastle is great for a night out. Did anyone watch
the program about bouncers that was on a few years ago, that was in Newcastle wasn’t
it? They looked after a lot of the bars and the places looked really nice.
LMP – Great news on your granddad and niece looks like it’s
finally picking up for you and I’m so happy for you! I dot mind either lovely,
here or PM is fine by me!!
I finally started doing a lot more wedding stuff, Saturday me
and the girls made bout 30-40 flowers aided by biscuits and processco! Then
yesterday I finally started gluing my invites together. I got half way through
the day people then gave up as I was tired. Gluing the pocket folds together and
then gluing the insides takes a lot of time which I didn’t realised, hahahaha!
Still have to wax stamp them yet! Lol!
Finally went through the wedding finances and realised I had
over worked my finances and I was saving another £500 more than required.
Hopefully taking that down will make me stress less.
Hello lovely Glad to hear you've sorted yourself out a new car now, fingers crossed it all goes well from now on for you. That's good that you were over saving rather than under saving, hopefully that'll take a bit of pressure off you now.
I'll pop the pictures on here then ... get ready everyone, I went a bit mad haha...
So here's my dress with the train down
Here's the loop...
All done up...
Button & loop hidden away...
Ta-dah! (it looks a bit odd as it's bunched up on the hanger, it hangs much nicer when its on)
Aw thanks hun, I love it too ? I'm so impatient for my OH to see it though, I'm getting scared he won't like it I thought it was a clever way of bunching up the train as well, glad I could help Looking forward to seeing a flash of your dress soon ... :p
Oh ok ... since you asked so nicely ... hehe
My blinged up invites
And here are the inserts... (I forgot to take a photo until one came back!)
I know what you mean! Im scared mine wont like mine but then
I think..... he always seems to like what I wear so I should be ok. ?
Love the inserts!! You wouldn’t even know that they were
done separately from the invites. ?
It’s going to be a rush job as I have go from the shop to my
mums and then drop off the dress, take a flash and then come home and pick up
H2B and then head to Bicester to meet his dad! Just can’t wait to have it now
though, although scared about the alterations cost. ?
Aw I'm sure your OH will love your dress It's just odd as its my OH's opinion that I rely on the most, and I can't ask him what he thinks!! Hopefully he won't think I look like a giant puff ball
Thank you ? it's good to hear that they look nice, weeks of panicking are now over woohoo!
Ah there's always time for a flash :p Ooh don't talk to me about alterations, I have no idea what mine will cost. Have the shop given you a rough idea of what you'll be looking at?
^^^ Oh this I totally agree with! It's so weird as I share/discuss everything with OH and it totally feels weird not being able to ask him on something so important. I could I suppose, but that would ruin the surprise! I hope he likes it.
Oh I'm so glad its not just me that's having this problem! I couldn't even ask him if I should get a veil, I had to guess =/ The only thing I managed to get his opinion was my jewellery and that was purely because I threatened a meltdown if he didn't help me... Lucky for you lovely ladies have been very complimentary and that has helped
AnnaMolly I bought my invites from Hitched but I added the little blue stones myself (only 4 per invite as I got SO annoyed with it all!!) and my work friend made me a template so I could create my own RSVP's & menus
AnnaMolly – I think these flower girl dresses need a flash!!
LMP – I’ve always winged my own style since i was like 13
(looking back on some I probably shouldn’t have haha) so I’m more scared that
it won’t be what he normally sees me in. I’ll wear some shorts so I can just
slip it over them without worrying and just a jumper and vest top. I’ll try my
best, just need to make sure mum doesn’t see it too hehe!
The gaint puff ball is my worry, after seeing all the slinky
dresses people are buying and posting, im worried i’ll look like a toilet roll
cover hahah!
I haven’t even dared to ask yet. I have a price list of
alterations but don’t even want to know the cost. So far all i know is £10 to
add a bussle or a button to the bottom to hold the dress up!
P.s. is anyone else not getting the email notifications?
AnnaMolly - your flower girl dresses are gorgeous I bought my nieces outfit a few weeks ago but I probably shouldn't have...
Lui - I know what you mean, my OH is used to seeing me in jeans and trainers I hardly ever look "girly" so it'll be a bit of shock to him! Are you not showing your mum the dress? Well once you've flashed the dress I'll be the first to tell you it doesn't look like a toilet roll cover :p I couldn't pull off any of these slinky dress people are posting ... it's a wee bit upsetting ... ah well *reaches for more chocolate* ? The cost of adding a bustle or button isn't bad, hopefully the rest of the alterations will be ok as well!
Maybe it’s my setting, I have it set up to get notifications
when people post on this board, mainly because we ladies love to natter on this
one and when I go out running/house work/ work/ general life I fear I miss too
much haahah.
Those are beautiful!!
They will steal the show.
I also saw your other post and I honestly think your having
wobbles because your dress is beautiful and I have no doubts you will look
stunning in it.
Ah. Nope never had those which is probably why I miss so much!
Thanks Lui. I'm hoping with all my hair and make up done and my veil on I'll feel better about it. It's so hard to imagine what it's all going to look like together.
I had to turn the email notifications off, they were clogging up my work email
AnnaMolly, I know what you mean about trying to imagine it all together. I had a few wobbles with my dress but I tried it on after I had my make-up trial with my jewellery and fell in love with it all over again! Can you try yours on after you've had a hair/make-up trial, it might you help picture it all on the day...
Ooh ... does anyone mind if I flash my veil ... ??
Aw Lui I know where your coming from, I hate my hair atm as I have to grow it for the hairstyle I want and it's at the awkward in between stage! This is how I'm hoping to have my hair...
Because my hair always has a centre parting the idea is to have two plaits either side going into the bun, and have it a bit 'tidier'. I can't stand having wisps of hair falling in my face! AnnaMolly my veil is hip length (36 inches) and its 54 inches wide, I used the custom option to make it exactly what I wanted
On the ssubject of veils. I am going all out for a very long one. It is as long as the train of my dress. Fiance's grandma said I looked very prettyin it. Like a virgin! Lol
Wow Happy Polly, I'll bet that's an impressive looking veil What does it look like? There's no way I could cope with a veil that long, I'm scared I'll fall over my dress as it is!
