Planning seems to be going ok thanks Rach, venue and registrar booked, band for evening and singer for ceremony booked, dress ordered, invitations due to arrive this week I think!

What time on the 17th do you get married?

We get married at 1, what about you? I have all the stuff to start making invites just need to finish writting the detail to print out, looking forward to doing it as im quite crafty, just hope they turn out ok. I have my 3 childrens outfits sorted they just need to not grow to much in the next 6 months.

lui - exciting about your dress, looking forward to maybe a flash?

We get married at 3 so hopefully that'll give me plenty of time so that I am actually on time and not late!

I'm excited to say that I have finished making and writing my invites and have bought my bridesmaid dresses!

A successful days work but now I have planning for teaching to complete...the fun never ends!

Morning all
Can I ask, is anyone else finding that their OH's best man is completely useless?? Don't get me wrong, I get on really well with my OH's best man but he can't/won't do anything!
I ended up picking (and paying for) their suits because we couldn't get BM to come shopping, he's said he won't do a speech and when I asked him if he could help my bridesmaid get people organised for photos he gave me a total blank look! I don't see the point in a BM that won't do anything to help =/

misslynx - I missed your dress flash! Can you flash again...? Really pleased you found something you love, and it's great they've given you a lace jacket as well
I know what you mean about the budget though, I bought one dress believing it was going to be ok (I got it from a bridal shop in a sale, but have since been told it was a knock off!!). I ended up falling for something else and spending more money...am glad I did though as my first dress is no where near as nice as the dress I have now

tookmytime - hello and welcome time will fly by, I promise you! It seems like only a few weeks ago that I had 18 months to go, and now it's only 6...eeek!!

As for best men, isnt it the main job to do a speech? How can he except being a best man and not expect to help a little during the day. I think you OH needs to have a polite word, maybe BM doesnt realise these thing go along with being BM?

Thanks guys, the neckline and the middle bit made me fall in love with it! Was having a few dress wobbles before it came in and now it’s here I love it all again and I’m sure I will love it even more when the dress is correctly fitted.

I’ve now had to delete the images off my phone and off my computer hehehe! Be too tempted, but flashing it here as helped with that! Ha!

LMP – So what is he going to do? H2B best man is awesome, he arranged the stag, working on his speech, getting to know people so that he knows who to collect for photos, working out a suit with him. It does help that they have been best friends since 8 and always do stuff together.

I have absolutely no idea what the best man (let's call him M) thinks he's supposed to do, but he's not doing what I'd expect. I offered to give him a list of the photographs that we'd like so he can gather people for photos, leaving the photographer free to do what he needs to do, but he said he wasn't comfortable with that. I've told my OH that the speech doesn't need to be very long, if M could just thank everyone for coming and make a toast that would be fine. But no. He won't do that either.
To top it off ... I'm having to arrange OH's stag!
Like I haven't got enough to do ...

You’re arranging the stag do? What! This is so wrong, that’s like one of the perks of being a BM!!

I’m getting frustrated for you! The point of the BM is to help the Groom. What does your OH think about it all?

Lui - Beautiful Dress

LMP - My OH and his best man are pretty useless. I asked my OH to ask him BM when he's free to go suit shopping. But I can tell he doesn't want to ask because every time it's "oh, I forgot"

So I have decided I am no longer going to mention it and see how close it gets to the wedding before they move their asses!

My OH won't likely be having a stag do as his BM partner won't let him go out (she is my OH's sister) so it's looking like he's gonna miss out on this.

How's everyone elses planning going?

My OH's response to it all is "Oh well that's just the way M is, he's very laid back." Yeah but he still manages to arrange to come round ours for dinner all the time ?
Rebeccafcr I was terrified that if I left my OH to it he would forget completely! That's really mean that your OH won't get a stag do though.

Planning is going ok, although I freaking out about tablecloths =/

Going to do a second - slightly longer flash. I keep removing as it has my face on it - which I think you need to see due to the sheer joy I radiate but also allows nosey grooms to 'browse' on my PC! This is obviously without Jacket but it was the first time I actually 'saw' a bride:-)

Well the problem with the tablecloths is that I don't have any. Nadda. Zilch.
My evening reception venue supplies the tables (5 foot round) but no tablecloths. The cheapest place I can hire them from charges £11 per cloth. And I have 14 tables. Headache

Finally wax stamping and sorting invites, then making more flowers. I have a busy April with Baby showers and my birthday so probably won't do a lot then but in May I've got a meeting with our celebrates and I'm working on a photography list and people to give to BM and MOH for the day when we have to have the group shots!

After that it's just sorting centre pieces and spray painting things, all the little picky and fiddly bits.

What will you do next after the table cloths are sorted?

After I've sorted the tablecloths I'll be taking another trip to the evening do to see if my friend can do some DIY draping ... there's just one wall that's very badly marked that we're going to try and hide. Not too sure what else to do really, apart from the photo list and picking our first dance.

Lui - my flower situation is getting worse, two of the florists that I really liked and could do what we wanted for a decent price are both unavailable on my wedding day. Should have sorted it sooner and now I'm back to the beginning :-/

I've been doing little things, like sorting the creche for the ceremony, paying off registrar etc now we've given notice. Think next step is rings ?

Oh that is a bit of a problem, hopefully your mums friend comes though! So lucky that I don't have to worry about things like that as I wouldn't know where to even start with it. Keep us updated on how it goes!

It feels like I haven't got a lot to do but I don't know if I still do or not. I guess it's all the little bits that will tie in together now which will be time consuming and annoying hahah! Can't believe how fast it's coming round! Today is the 7th month mark and we are slowly moving out of the 200 days into the 100 days + mark. H2b had a little shock the other day when driving home realising that it was closer than he though! He was having a little panic bless him! Hehe.

Still need to finish off my name places (all day people are family and bridal party so we know they won't rspv a no) and tidy them up but I can't be bothered with them right now as its super fiddly hehe!

Oh thy does remind me we do need a list for the DJ for the evening do, trying to cater everyone music wise is hard! Hehe! Apparently I'm not allowed to just have music I like.... Not fair on everyone else haha.

A crèche? That's a brilliant idea, that way parents can enjoy the ceremony and not have to worry! That's so clever!!

Thanks ladies - to be honest, I didn't want children there at all. OH's family is very, very big and there are about 30 under 12's on our list! But he couldn't leave them out of the wedding so the creche is the compromise. I just really didn't like the idea of not being able to hear my vows for screaming kids (I know that sounds terrible but having been to OH's family weddings before, this does happen!).

I'm really liking this for my ring, it's on Etsy: as for OH, he is just looking at getting something plain in the same material.

Stephied – That ring is beautiful!! I know what you mean about screaming children too and that’s my worry too (I know how you feel though as its horrible to say when all your close friends have babies.)It’s a good comprise though, least you don’t have to worry now and parents don’t have to stress about having to look for babysitters.
