Have fun Looking forward to seeing the pics! Am glad your happy with the trial, I know you were worried about style to go for. Lol you and Mr Lui have my permission to use my spreadsheet and just add/delete what you like...or if you prefer email me artists and songs you like and I'll do it for you. x
I've been away for what seems like ages! I haven't even had time to read everyone's messages so I feel like I'm really out of the loop! I've just had so much going on, finished my training with work as been flying about all over the place and then on my previous days off I've been trying to spend quality time with my son and fiancé which hasn't been easy as he's away on a paramedics course, whaaaaa!!
But I did manage to find a day last week to gather the bridesmaids and go dress hunting for them. It was much easier than I thought. The second dress they tried on they all loved, job done! I am taking a risk though and ordering them online but I've heard great reviews from people who have used the company so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they turn out ok.
Im trying to organise my flowers now. I'm going for foam roses but communication with the lady hasn't been great and yesterday she suffered an unfortunate hot glue injury...
I'm on standby today so whilst waiting for the call from work I'm trying to figure out hymns and readings. What are you going for? I really like 'Love divine all loves excelling' and 'We pledge to one another' but it sounds quite American to me. I haven't got a clue where to start with readings!
I hope everyone is well and the wedding planning is going ok. 6 months to go ladies!!xxx
Thanks for the links FutureMrsKay, I'll have a look at those when I get home
SaraPoppy sounds like you've been really busy! Glad to hear you got your BM dresses all sorted, I'm sure you'll be fine ordering them online especially if they have good reviews OUCH! I feel sorry for your flower lady suffering a hot glue injury, how horrible I can't help with recommending anyone I'm afraid but if I remember rightly one of our follow October brides bought her foam roses from eBay and they were lovely... I'm getting married in a registry office so we're not having any hymns but I'm stuck with what readings to pick as well so I'm no help at all =/
MrsFRtobe your dress is gorgeous! I love the jacket.
Hello Sara Poppy! Can't help either with the hymns I'm afraid as we're having a civil ceremony. I hope your flower lady recovers from her glue injury quickly, ouch!
Finally ordered my veil, eek! I'm excited to see it but it's going to take 2-3 weeks to arrive.
I've heard from the flower lady and all is ok. She said she's got a comedy bandage in but she's still working, bless her! She will be sending my invoice later, another thing ticked off the list!
Just called the shop about my dress. I'm not sure if anyone remembers but I ordered extra lace to have sleeves added. I'm going in two weeks to see the dress again and start work on it, eek!
I think I've decided on the readings. I'm not sure how many we are supposed to have but I've found two. The first is 'Thoughts on marriage' by Khalil Gibran and the other is 'I carry your heart' by EE Cummings. Still unsure about the hymns though!
I've been so busy! I'm straight off maternity leave so the whole work thing is a shock to the system anyway. Add that to wedding planning and trying to do up our home... Jeez! I'm enjoying it though!xx
Ooh AnnaMolly that sounds lovely Where did you get it from?
Glad your florist is ok SaraPoppy, and that you'll be getting your invoice. Hopefully she'll be a bit better at communicating now. Aw I bet your dress is going to look lovely with the sleeves added
I put a deposit down on a new TOG/VOG, this morning so that's pretty good. But, 2 hours later, I got an email to say I'd won a TOG competition and had won £700 of free photography. Just my luck, haha.
MrsFRToBe - Love the dress and illusion jacket - you look stunning :-)
SaraPoppy - We're having a civil ceremony so can't help with hymns, but these are the two readings we are having.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
At that moment, it seemed to him that time stood still. When he looked into her eyes, and saw that her lips were poised between a laugh and silence, he learned the most important part of the language that all the world spoke – the language that everyone on earth was capable of understanding in their heart. It was love. Something older than humanity, more ancient than the desert. Something that exerted the same force whenever two pairs of eyes met, as had theirs here. It was the pure Language of the World. It required no explanation, just as the universe needs none as it travels through endless time. What he felt in that moment was that he was in the presence of the only woman in his life and that, with no need for words, she recognised the same thing.

Maybe... we are supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.
Maybe... it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don't know what we have been missing until it arrives.
Maybe... the happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
Maybe... the best kind of love is the kind where you can sit on a sofa together and never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
Maybe... you shouldn't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
Maybe... you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.
Maybe... love is not about finding the perfect person, it's about learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.
LittleMissPanda - Thanks - it took us ages to find readings that we both liked and that had meaning for us.
TheFutureMrsKay - Good news on sorting the TOG/VOG and well done on winning the prize. I suppose you could have both and get one TOG to focus on informal photos and the other on the formal groups etc?
I don't really know what to do. The woman at the company that I won from is now out of office until the morning, so I need to talk to her then to discuss my options.
The package that I have now is from bridal prep to 20 mins after first dance. I'm hoping that I can use the competition photographer for the evening. I think 2 day TOGS + VOG is too much, especially if they're from different companies (and some contracts for TOGs don't allow it).
I'm quite excited about it, and don't want to have to wait until the morning to find out my options.
I also don't really know about whether to do readings yet. But I think all the ones above are really lovely.
TheFutureMrsKay - Your solution sounds a good one - I can't see why the prize TOG wouldn't agree - could mean more of the prize can go towards some albums?
We are finalising our invitations today so hopefully will get them sent out before the end of the month.
TheMrsFutureKay- do you mind me asking how much your Vog was and if you could negotiate at all? I really want one but need to present a good case to my fiancé before he agrees!
Annamolly - Your veil sounds gorgeous!! Cant wait to see it when it arrives!
Sarapoppy - Hope your ok lovely! sounds like you have got a lot of stuff done while you were off! Glad to hear that you got your flowers sorted and the lady has got back in touch with you. Whats next on your list to do?
Mrswaktinstobe - Your readings are lovely! have you decided who will be doing them! sorry if i missed this bit.
Futuremrsk - Glad you got things book but I've just read your thing and oh no!! Bloody photographers are like buses, i swear!!
So last night I had a rough idea of the bridesmaids and my hair, I've put some flashes below! Please excuse the faces I'm pulling, I'm apparently in capable of pulling a nice face! hahah!
My bridesmaids:
We need to work on it more once my hair has grown within the next month and also when its clean as it really needed washings (sorry for the grossness! lol) but I didnt know if my hair would hold if it was clean as it doesn't normally hold styles! My two bridesmaids are wearing different hairbands as I'm not sure, I really like both of them and so do they but I dont know if its too much at all to have the big one or if the small pearl one is better! When my hairs clean it should fill the gaps that are showing in my hair.
The next thing on my list is the cake. I thought we had it sorted but unfortunately our cake maker has been taken seriously ill and is cancelling all orders. I know October is a little way off but I need to be organised. I'm looking at m&s cakes now. They are slightly more within our budget and can be made to look beautiful :-)
The album idea is a good one! Thank you. I'm determined to use my prize; I've won something so I'm making sure I'm using it! Haha. Hopefully we'll come to a solution tomorrow.
Sara Poppy- sorry, but I don't think I'll be much help with the convincing aspect. My one was an absolute steal! The TOG is offering it as an add-on for only £200. They haven't done many, but I love the ones they have done, so we may have got ourselves a good deal.
I spoke to another VOG who was really nice and prices were only £425 for the basic package, and the videos were pretty good. Where are you based? I'll let you know if he covers your area
Lui- love the hair. But pull better faces on the wedding pics, haha
Lui - which hair band did your BM's prefer? Maybe they can help you choose one ... or have a look at their other accessories, it might be one goes better with the whole picture.
SaraPoppy - no harm in being organised! One of my friends had an M&S wedding cake and it looked lovely.
AnnaMolly - That's where I got my veil from, and I absolutely mine ? I'm sure it'll look lovely!
TheFutureMrsKay - let us know what you decide about your TOG situation I agree that you should definitely use your prize, maybe they can photograph more of the evening do?
Thanks guys! I’m may actually pull better faces haha! I just
can’t pose nicely without feeling a bit scared and out of my comfort zone, but
i’ll figure something out.
LMP – They both likes both of them, they are pretty easy
going and any decisions I ask them on they are happy with what I’m happy with,
which is great but needs to make an actual choice on something’s that I can’t.
The futuremrskay – ohhh use it for something good! Maybe a
pre wedding shoots unless your tog includes them.
Sarapoppy – hope your cake maker is ok!! M&S cakes are
awesome!! My friend did that she decorated the cake herself and it looked
really good! I didn’t taste any as I was far too drunk at that point but
normally cakes from M&s are tasty!!
Annamolly – Theresa lot of grips in it hahah! I was a pin
cushion haha!
Ohhhhhh I’ve heard good things about that veil shop!!
I spoke to the company that I won the free photography from and I can't use them. They won't cover the evening for me, nor do photo albums with the money.
It's a really inflexible package. I have won 5 hours of daytime wedding photography, and that is it. If I want an extra 3 hours (standard package) I have to pay another £200. And the competition doesn't even cover us having the pictures. I'd have to pay another £300 for that.
So the 'free' photography would actually cost £500. It doesn't really save me any money. I think I'm just going to have to pass up on it. Maybe it'll make another bride really happy.
TheFutureMrsKay - That's disappointing. To be honest it doesn't sound much of a prize - sounds more like they are trying to rope people in and then getting them to pay extra for everything (photos, albums, extra time) - more of a money making opportunity for them than a true prize. A bit like the places that say you've won a photo shoot and then charge through the nose for the photos.
Hope you don't mind me asking but when are you all sending your invitations and what sort of date have you given for RSVPing for your October weddings?
Our invitations have arrived but we need to finalise the menu choices (hopefully tomorrow as have a meeting with the venue) so that i can i add the choices to our website so that guests can make a choice before the day. We were having an RSVP of last day in August but my OH has said he thinks it should be earlier so now am considering having RSVP card re print with an earlier date.
The future Mrs Kay - sounds like your prize has been made to basically get themselves some money - most people will at least want an album - shame though. At lease you know the TOG you have booked you like and have checked them out etc - the important thing is good piccies :-)
Tookmytime - I think the last day in August is too late considering you will most likely have to chase people/send out extra invites to make up numbers if people can't make it/organise table plans.
I am going to send mine out beginning of May and ask them to RSVP by end of June I think, but would be interested to hear if others think 2 months is long enough? An invite to a wedding I had recently had 6 weeks RSVP time which I thought was generous.
We are still having issues with our best man, but at least we have found him, and finally had a response from him! Yay!
He is my OH's oldest friend but they haven't spoken in about 10 years as they lost touch when the BM moved away. The fact we have direct contact (after trying to find him for 3 months) was enough to make me cry!
We will see if he is free soon and at least then we can opt for BM number 2 choice if not - all of our invites/arranging etc has been on hold as it is really important to the OH that his old friend is there.
I ought to also point out I know the guy too - I met my OH back in 1998 on a band tour of Greece (we are both musicians). His best mate was on the same tour so it would be nice for him to be there - we are hoping for about 6 from that tour to be at our wedding :-D
arriving on the friday, we will just chill out, on the sat a lazy morning then a knicker making party in the afteronoon
http://www.topdrawerdiva.co.uk
then a party night in the 'VIP area" in the slug and lettuce in york with a prosecco reception. I chose the slug and lettuce as we can eat and drink in the same place, both my mum and mother in law to be hate pubs etc so best of both worlds, they can sit and natter while we have cocktails
there are 18 of my friends going in total, its the 1st weekend in October, i can't wait!
I’m in the process of sending mine
out but only to family at the moment. The main bulk amount will go out in May
with a RSVP date of the 1st August.
Went to drop my mum and dads up
yesterday with my brothers and my granddads and they’ve dropped the bombshell
that my granddad won’t be coming to my wedding due to how poorly he is.
Little bit of a back story.. My
family is Italian and my granddad is the head of the family, always has from as
long as I remember, so a wedding without my granddad is nothing that I have
imagined and I know that’s silly because he is 95 years old and I should be
realistic and I understand that I’m so lucky to have 27 years with him, it’s
just sad to think he won’t be there to see me get married.
My brother trying to cheer me up said
we could re-enact it with a punch and Judy style show or shadow puppets (yes
this is my older brother who is suggesting this!) Just feel a bit gutted that
even though my brother and sister have been married but sadly neither didn’t last
he was there to them but not at mine.
I know that due to being upset I’m
being selfish as there are worse scenarios out there and the fact that he can
watch the video afterwards is something.
Sorry for rambling and sorry for
bringing a bit of a downer to the day.
