October 2015 brides....

Eeeeek! OH has given me the green light to book our honeymoon this morning! Were off to Las Vegas and New York!!!! so excited, I've booked the hotels already and can hopefully book the flights soon I love New york, its my OH 40th birthday a couple of weeks after the wedding so a double celebration

Morning everyone

So I'm feeling pretty happy today!
I spoke to my grandad yesterday, he mentioned that he and my dad have hatched a 'master plan' to try and make sure he can come to my wedding. He lives about 4 hours away, but my dad has said that if my grandad isn't well enough to drive he'll go pick grandad & my step-grandma up and bring them here so they can come to my wedding ? They'll be staying with my mum & dad, so if he feels well enough after the ceremony he can come to the meal and if he doesn't my dad will drive him back to my parents house so he can have a rest.
I'm so pleased that he's going to be there

And yesterday evening, completely out of the blue, my original MUA text me! My OH pointed out that as her little baba has just been let out of hospital then she might not have opened any cards/presents until he was home (maybe to avoid tempting fate) which would explain why she's only text me now. So we had a little chat about how she and baba were getting on, and she asked how I was getting on with wedding plans...
I'm still going to have the hair & make-up trial at this other salon on Monday, as I think the deal they've offered me is too good to not investigate. If I get on well then I'll tell my original MUA that my bridesmaids arranged it for me as a surprise ... a little white lie never hurt right? And if it goes wrong, I know I can now get in touch with her.
Is that really mean of me =/

Reading about everyone's honeymoons make me realise that my OH and I are definitely weird

I totally agree with you that £160 is money well spent if it gets rid of the stress and worry I had hanging round my neck recently! Isn't it odd the things we stress over when there's a wedding involved?!

AnnaMolly – The wax seal is fun! Did you get the wax with the wick or not? If not you may need a spoon. Also make sure that if you use the wick one that you have a large ventilated room as when I did it with mine the smoke coming off it smelt and really started to give me a head ache after a while.

I really am over the moon that he can be there now, and I know he is as well. Original he and my step-grandma were going to teach me and my OH to dance over the summer, obviously that isn't going to happen now ... but my step-grandma told me that she's bought my OH & I a 'learn to waltz dvd'! So now my OH and I have got to teach ourselves because they'll be there to see it ... this could go very very wrong ?

MUA's little one is fine, she said he's been allowed home now and he's the centre of her & husband's universe <-- too cute!!

glad that they are home and that is so adorable of them! It's ok, I mean everyone is wired in their own way, as I learnt growing up there's no such thing as normal! Ah that's cool so the VIP version! That's why I'm doing with the hen do! Give me showers, flushing toilets and also a private bar and I'm there haha! Hope the line up is as good as this year. (I was so tempted with the line up this year but just can't afford it!)

Coat hangers are the bane of my life right now! I want some but just not sure to get them or make them! Slowly all the ones I'm looking at are merging into one! Haha! I would never worry about stuff like this outside of my wedding bubble! Glad that I'm not the only one going crazy, sometimes it feels like it as h2b is fine and laid back (lucky git) ha!

I'm exactly the same, I love camping but to me the difference between the RIP camp site and the normal camp site is definitely worth the extra money. I really wanted to go this year as well but there was no way we could afford it.

Hahaha move the coffee table and just give it a whirl hehe! That’s what we have been doing! H2B has a habit of standing on my feet and with open toe shoes on the day I know he will just be on them hahaha! 5 months of practice, even if you get the basics you can make the rest up hehe!

One of my hens is going this year and I’m so jealous of her! Ha! Maybe next year I’ll go for the day, although with it being 40 mins from home thinks I wouldn’t camp. Just anything from the cess pits of Reading or Leeds (ohhhh classy talk!?) I’m happy with.

I was just looking at this one, as I was debating regarding getting one with the wire with my name and one just like that because of how my dress is but I think the wire one is a bit too much. I was looking at my own transfer too but it’s a bit too much and hanger and effort, all the effort hahah! This is why I’m starting to get excited for it to be over for the day, because of these stresses gone hahah! ?

Also think of the lovely day without stress and being carefree and just being pampered! That’s a perfect Tuesday to me there haha!

So new development and I just need somewhere to rant so I’m sorry I’m going to unload on your guys! I got home last night and found h2b in a really foul mood and looking upset. Asked him what was wrong and turns out yesterday (after a bad day of work and on his way to an appointment) he received a phone call from him mum moaning at him to why his uncles were only invited to the evening do. He explained why and then his mum demanded to know if any of his dads brother and sisters had been invited to the evening do (his parents are separated split.) He said he couldn’t remember but will let her know (even though he knew they were not). She moaned some saying it would be fun fair. So when he got home he sent her a photo of the evening guests. Showing that none of his aunty and uncles are invited to the evening do.

He then explained that my aunts and uncles are (they are coming from Dubai and my dad’s sister I’m really close to) however his mum mentioned that she didn’t mind about my family but wanted to only know about his side. I’ll tell you why they don’t mind that my family are invited to the day, that’s because my parents are paying for the reception so they wouldn’t dare tell him that its unfair that my family are invited.

At the end of the phone call he just told him mum that if his Nan is so worked up about it then don’t come and he even mentioned that if his mum carried on he would uninvited them.

H2B looks so sad and just said he wished we could just go away and have a private ceremony away from everything. I’m just so annoyed with it because they are dictating who should come to our wedding and just not listening to our wishes and letting us get on with it. So fed up!

Just not sure what to do any more.

So his mum is upset that her brothers are only invited to the evening do, even though none of her ex-husband's sibling are invited at all?
I'm sorry but I don't see why she's upset??
Surely she's got the better deal if her siblings got an invite and her ex's didn't?

I do find it quite funny that she knows she can't have a pop at your family being invited!

I'm sure his mum and nan will calm down, maybe just give them a few days and then try to talk to them and explain why you've done it that way?

i thought this thread was a bit quiet and then I realised all my notifications were going to my junk folder! I hope you're all well? I have a dress fitting in an hour, eek! I need to decide if I want sleeves added or not. I'm going on my own so I can't get a second opinion and the lady in the shop is really unhelpful. One minute she said sleeves looks nice and the next she said they are frumpy, whaaaa! I can't believe how any difficult decisions need to be made about one dress! I'll let you know how I get one.xx

His dads family is invited, but again to the evening, each aunty on uncle on both sides have like 3+ kids so it would be another 20/30 people at the day if we invited them and having 30 people each (including ourselves) was hard to have them in the day. Due to my large family I couldn’t fit my flower girls and their families on my list so I had to take h2b spots just so the bridal party could be included.

I dont see why they are upset either, everyone on h2b side is being treated exactly the same, no one has more preference over the other and my family is getting a little more but like i said my dad is graciously paying for it so I think (and this will sound a bit crappy) my family will get a little more because its his hard earned money.

H2B did explain but he Nan hasn’t been happy throughout the whole thing because its “not easy for them” because they have to drive up, get a hotel the night before, then go to another hotel to stay in on the night of the wedding which they cant check in until 3... blah blah blah, however alot of people have to do this so its not the end of the world and no one is forcing them to stay in two different hotels, thats their choice.

We are going down south on Saturday to see them all and right now im dreading it so god knows what the mister is feeling.

I think I bought the right ones, I got the 100% polyester ones, which are really fluffy, and they kinda look like they have a grid pattern on them so I'm assuming that's what people meant by a waffle robe?? I've literally had the same dressing gown for 10 years so I'm clueless ?
Oh I don't have to worry about people agreeing to make my life easier, my mum's brutally honest and my BM & MOH are both masters at being truthful but subtle!

I really don't think staying in 2 hotels is the end of the world at all! So their staying in 1 hotel, checking out the morning of the your wedding, going to your wedding, and then checking in after? What's the issue...

LMP – That’s what I’m hoping, reading is good this year too but again too expensive to even debate it. Next year I may do a few more, although with reading I think i wouldn’t camp just stay somewhere with family in the area and go from there. Just the toilets there put me off hahah! ?

I’m the same as you, got one dressing gown had it for like 5 years, it’s so fluffy and i love it that unless its really bad i don’t think i will change for a long time haha.

Glad that you have people that will tell you. I know my friends would but sometimes I just feel they are just going with me because I’m the bride, I noticed that with one thing but it was only small but I know my best friend if she disliked it she would pull an automatic face that I always see when she’s not happy. So far the face hasn’t come out! Woo!

It’s just people putting their nose in places it shouldn’t be now! I’ve heard about the politics of weddings and now I’ve come across it and weddings do bring either the good or the nasty side out of people.

I’m not sure what she thought tbh, I mean we even had a discussion last weekend about how he’s hardly seen them so god knows what gone on while we have been at home.

With the hotels situation *in Monica from friends voice* I KNOW!! I thought the same thing, its not a problem, they can nip off and cheek in if they want after the wedding and before the speeches as its only a 5 min drive away. People make it so hard! I know issues like this I wouldn’t ever take to a bride and groom, even before i was planning this wedding.

Wow ladies, you have been busy on here today!

the fitting went really well. I had myself weighed since I last tried it on and I've lost 9lbs, that made all the difference! The dress actually fits now and does up and sits properly. I tried the sleeves and they looked lovely in the mirror but for some reason I'm not a girl who trusts a mirror, I need photo evidence! Thank The Lord in this case because they really didn't look as good as I had hoped in the pictures so I've decided against them. I've had a carrier added to the back to make it sit a bit better. I'm completely in love with my dress again. I can't believe it after doubting it for months and having a serious case of dress wobbles! Here is my better fitting dress: (may appear at the top of the post?)

Another October 2015 bride here I love Octobers (though I am biased with it being my birthday in that month and all!)

I will definitely think about that next year if the line up is good! The older i get (im so not old but feel like im like mid 50s haha) the more comforts I want.

Reading is horrible festival wise for camping unless you go in a VIP section, we got flooded out on our tent and H2B BM broke his tent and brought a crap one so we had to have him sleep in ours. It was mental but it really did bring us all closer together haha! We ended up packing up the first night and ended up at h2B mum about 10 mins away and just trains and bus it in every day to the festival.

Hhahah but dressing gowns are amazing!! I have one at mine which is fluffy and white with hearts on and Archer (my cat) loves it and snuggles up to me when i wear it. I like the sound of yours, sound like a good one! Good dressing gowns are hard to find!

Ohhhh hope you enjoy pizza with them!! Pizza and a little bit of wine (or alot) is always the best way to get ideas going.

I'd totally recommend RIP to anyone, it made the whole experience nicer in my opinion. I'll happily admit that it makes me sound old but being able to have a shower, use proper toilets and not having to trek 30-40 mins to the arena certainly made me a happy panda

Hahah sorry! I would recommend a day trip there, bonus is that’s close to the centre and you can get a boat on the thames there which is nice. Just the camping part is rank haha, although staying outside of reading would make things cheaper for hotels.

Whaaaa! The bridesmaid dresses have arrived. I was so worried about them but they are beautiful! A little brighter than I pictured but like that. It's been a great couple of days for dresses! I ordered them from diydress.com. They arrived in 2 weeks and really well made. So happy!
