I said hello on here a few weeks back but thought I'd post properly now we have booked our date! Wedding is now booked for October 3rd! We have so far sent out save the date emails and some in the post for day guests. Other than that we have done nothing... real panic is starting to set in, especially after reading some of the post on here and how far on you all are with things :-p xx

    Hi Rachj33

Don't worry. I did the bulk of my planning and buying things in the first 4 weeks after booking the venue. You've got plenty of time, don't worry Smiley smile

Blimey I can't keep up with you ladies today ?

Lui - OMG, why do we write lists?! I've just done the same ... silly silly panda
OK, instead of freaking out let's think (!!) ... what can we get sorted first ?
Time just seems to fly by, especially when we have things that need doing. Although it is exciting that your OH's BM is having a baby, one of my close friends has just had a little girl and she's so cute ❤️

Lol drag your OH, that's what love is all about right ?

Aw Archer is adorable! Fur baby ?
Gizmo was named after gremlins, he had huge ears when he was a kitten. We had to have him put to sleep a few weeks ago, shortly after I found out about my grandad :'(

I shall try my best to resist the lure of internet shopping....

rachhj33 - Hello again, we're date twins! Sparkly Bear is also a 3rd Oct bride...
Don't panic, you'll get everything done. 5 months is loads of time!

SaraPoppy - Your bridesmaid dresses are gorgeous! Really lovely colour Smiley smile

I definitely can't keep up with this thread!

Lui, your fur baby is lovely, what a sweetheart. I want a cat but OH wants a dog. I said we could have both but he said no Smiley sad Oh well, two toddlers is probably enough to deal with for the time being!

I have learned for the last couple of posts not to make lists, it will only lead to more stress Smiley winking

SaraPoppy - the dresses are gorgeous! Your one and your bridesmaids. Your wedding will be beautiful!

So I went to try on my dress today and I am sooooo relieved! It was so much better than I remember it and looks totally different to how it looks on the model which is really all I've had to go on these past few months. Much more flowy and wedding dress-ey which is good as I was worried it didn't really look like some of the other more princess dresses I tried on and also liked.

Appointment with seamstress is August, for a few minor alterations. Overall it fit really well, so I'm happy!

Thank you for the welcome ladies!

Lui/LittleMissPandaSmiley tongueretty much set for the main things and suppliers, with only a few left to arrange (flowers/hair) but I have picked out some people just need to get it sorted! Lots of smaller things to do, such as favours and picking our witnesses (too many to choose from!)/songs etc. We set the date a few years in advance, so sometimes it doesn't actually feel real all of it as we've been slowly organising bits ever since! The time when it feels real is when I'm in my dress...I love that part Smiley smile

I'll be a Mrs by the end of 17th October Smiley smile

    Hey all,

I've not been on here for a bit and as we all know, it means I've missed a lot! I have read up on everything and all the flashes and posts look great and/or mostly positive - yay!

These past couple of weeks have seen us sort out groom's (and his side) attire, getting our ring fingers sized for our wedding rings and booking a hair and make-up trial. Other than that, I don't think we have done that much.

RSVPs are coming in...slowly...but...surely...(I want them all in now lol) but we have given people until the end of July so we can't really complain.

A couple of questions for you all:

    - What are you getting your OH as his present? I want to do something different but most things I think of seem to cost loads of money!
    - What and who are you getting presents for? We were thinking just the bridal party and those who have helped us a lot with the wedding itself.
    - When should I get my ring dipped? At the same time I get my wedding ring ordered (the wedding ring will probably have to be custom made so they will have my ER already)?
    - What are the timings for your day itself? I have started to put together a timeline but as always, it seems like there has to be something missing!
    - Finally (and I know it seems lists seem to be unpopular at the mo), what do you still have left to do?

We have got the following things either paid for, booked or nearly sorted:

Venue and caterers are booked and mostly paid for (tasting in August)
Photographer has been booked and partially paid for
My dress and all accessories have been bought
    Bridesmaids dresses have been bought
Hair and make-up trial has been booked
Groom's etc. attire have been sorted
    Flowers etc. have been sorted
We know the favours we want and will order them closer to the day
First night accommodation has been booked and paid for
Honeymoon has been booked and paid for
The cake is being made by my MIL
Save the Date cards and invites have been sent out
A friend is playing for the ceremony and a mate's band has been booked for the evening
We are going to buy the groom's ring very soon and I have a meeting in the jewellery quarter at the end of the month
Hen and stag dos are being organised by the bridal party (end of August)
Seating plan is nearly sorted thanks to hitched
My sister is driving me to the venue and everything is in one place

    Things that still need sorting:
    Final ideas for table decorations
    My ring
    Deciding on hair and make-up
Final ideas for flowers and bouquets
Thank you gifts to be bought
    Possibly booking a mini-moon

Any ideas on what else we need to do/book?

    Many thanks ladies!!!

LeedsWR- Ahh that’s good, you have plenty of time for all of that. I’ve seen a mix of people setting their date in advance and some setting it within the same year. I think it depends on what you can do (time wise) and afford. I’m like you though; I’ve been planning since Jan 2014.

Cat D – Glad you have alot of things sorted!

    - What are you getting your OH as his present?

My H2B wants a watch, so i made him eye up the ones he wanted and I’m going to buy him one a month before, I was thinking of having it engraved but I’m not sure if I will have enough to time to cover that.

    - What and who are you getting presents for?

I have main presents for the following: Both sets of parents, bridesmaid and maid of honour, best men and groomsmen, flower girls. Then I’m buying bottles of something for my uncles (hes driving us all) my SIL (she’s helped me through out with all the stress and ideas) and a good friend who is doing mu hair as I can’t afford someone to.

    - When should I get my ring dipped?

I thought about this the other day and think I will be getting this done early September to mid September time. I get married at the end of October so I think that will give me enough time. I hope. I’m going to talk to them at the start of September about it.

    - What are the timings for your day itself?

This is what we are having for the timings..

    12:00 wedding photographer arrives

13:30 Groom arrives ready for ceremony

    14:00 Ceremony

    14:30 Welcome drinks reception

16:00 seated dinner in the forum

    17:30 Speeches

    19:30 Evening guest arrive

    19:30 Evening entertainment

20:00 first dance & Cutting of the Cake

    20:30 Evening Buffet

    24:30 disco finish

    24:30 Carriages

    - Finally (and I know it seems lists seem to be unpopular at the mo), what do you still have left to do?

Oh there is so much to do still even though I thought I was finished. My list is:

    Table plans

    Centre pieces (put together)

    Name places to finish

    Wrapping paper for the gifts.

    Favours

Card box needs to be fixed up

    Shoes for the flower girls

    Vows

    H2B gift

    Talking to videographer

    Talk to photographer

Music (slowly doing that now thanks to LMP)

    Miniatures for the toilet boxes

    Cake

    Honeymoon/Mini moon.

Buy the extra bits for my hen do.

I think you have everything on the list. Depends if you want anything else going on in the wedding but it sounds like you have everything, although there is a chance I may be missing things out as I kept remembering them over the weekend.

Morning everyone, hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend Smiley smile

So it's safe to say that since its 150 days to go till my wedding I am officially freaking out! Feel like I have loads to do and not enough time/money to do it all...
I had my hair and make-up trial on Monday. I was over the moon with how my hair turned out, I never thought it would look so nice Smiley smile
I wasn't very keen on the make-up at all and felt like I couldn't say anything as my mum loved it. She and the MUA were getting on so well, I kinda felt a bit awkward saying anything bad. I know what it is I'd like her to do, so I'm going back next month (when I'll also try out a very light fake tan) but I'll take my MOH with me as she knows how to make me stand up for myself.
But here's a flash of my hair...
(excuse the state of my face, the make-up was done last!)

I will catch up with everyone's post ASAP Smiley smile

Right lets see if I can catch up properly...

LeedsWR - Sounds like your getting everything sorted Smiley smile
Where abouts are you getting married? I love looking at everyone's venues ... and dresses ... heck I just love looking at everyone's pictures!

Cat D - hello again Smiley smile
Well done on getting a few more bits done, it all adds up! I know what you mean about RSVP's every time we get one I get all excited.
I think you've got most things covered tbh

What are you getting your OH as his present?
    I have absolutely NO idea

What and who are you getting presents for?
I'm getting presents for my MOH, BM, mum & dad, FMIL & FFIL, my sister, my best man and my OH's best man.
MOH, BM and my mum are getting a pretty box containing a necklace, perfume, champagne glass & novelty pj's to wear when we're getting ready. They'll also have their dressing gowns on personalised hangers
My sister will get the same necklace as will my niece for when she's older
FMIL is having perfume and a champagne glass
Both dads are getting their favourite fragrance
Both best men are getting novelty socks, cuff links and fragrance

When should I get my ring dipped?
Could someone let me know this as well please Smiley smile

What are the timings for your day itself?
7:30am - Mum & BM arrive at my house (my MOH is staying over)
8am - Arrive at beauty salon
11am - My dad, best man and uncle will arrive at the salon
11:15am - My dad, best man & I will go to the ceremony venue, and my uncle will drive my mum BM & MOH
    12pm - Ceremony
    12:30 till 1:30pm - Photographs
    2pm - Meal
    5pm - Meal end
5pm till 7pm - all guests will be able to pop home/to their hotels to refresh before the evening do. My OH, both best men, BM & MOH will all check into our hotel before going to the evening venue to check everything's ok
    7pm-12pm - Evening reception

Finally (and I know it seems lists seem to be unpopular at the mo), what do you still have left to do?
I still have to buy most of the presents I mentioned & sort out the little touches like favours, bathroom & flip flop baskets.
Most of the decoration for the hall needs to be bought and assembled.

Your hair looks lovely LMP; did you have a fun day?

Definitely speak up if you’re not happy with your make up. Can’t believe its 150 days. That’s scary, I have someone on my FB who had 149 days to go and now it’s her wedding month, so crazy how fast that flew by!

So i made a list (bad i know) split the work between me and H2b, doesn’t seem too much now..... (give it time and i’ll be a nervous wreck with you.)

    Hi Lui Smiley smile

I did have a fun day, it was nice to see my mum getting involved and she actually suggested that I have the sides of my hair twisted rather than plaited and it looked so much nicer. Mother knows best!
I will talk to the MUA when I go next time, I'm planning on having a fake tan done 2 days before and the false eyelashes I like done the day before. I figured I would get a much better idea of the overall effect that way. I just felt a bit too pink, and she wouldn't do my eyeliner the way I like it.

It is absolutely freaking me out how quick time has gone! I feel like I should have a 1 and 5 months left =/

Aw sometimes lists are good Smiley smile
That's great that your OH is helping you as well

    xx

God mothers do always know best. (However I never tell my mum that as I’d never live that down haha) but she made the right choice on this one, I think plaits would have been a little too much.

How did you want your eyeliner on the day?

I’m with you, kind of want it to be back to last year so I can complete things but at the same time I don’t want that either haha cause I want to get married.

I say helping... he’s just looking at the list and questions what he has and questions what I have to do at the moment.

I’m a bit worried about my wedding cake tbh, when we were at his dads this weekend, his dad made a comment about how he was coming up the night before, his girlfriend mentioned they weren’t planning to and haven’t talked about this. He then mentioned that he wanted to spend the night with his son before he gets his married.

I mentioned he also needs to bring the cake and he was like “oh yea i need to bring the cake...” that really doesn’t give me much faith, so I’ve given the job of chasing his dad to H2B. I’m not even getting involved in that (however a close friend is my backup in case he just can’t.)

Yeah never tell your mum that she knows best ... you really will never live it down ?
But my mum was really pleased that I liked her idea better than my original inspiration, so I'm happy that I made her happy ?
The plaits looked a little bit severe on me, I definitely needed the more 'relaxed' look.

Well I always wear pencil eye liner, and I draw it on my inner eye rim ... I never put in under my bottom eyelashes.
She told me that the way I do my make-up is wrong and that my eyes would look small! So she insisted on using a powder eye liner and put it under my lower eyelashes. It really wasn't me, plus it irritated my contact lenses. I've never had anyone tell me my eyes look small, plus I wanted to keep some part of the make-up as 'me' as possible, I don't want to look totally different.

I feel exactly the same, I want more time but then I can't wait to be married!

At least he's looking at the list, that's a start ?
I told my OH last night everything that was freaking me out, and his response was "It's ok, we'll deal with it tomorrow". Now granted I was incredibly upset last night (non wedding related) but I just wanted him to somehow become Superman and fix everything ... poor guy really can't win with me!

Is it possible that your OH's dad was just really excited about spending time with his son before he gets married, that he actually just forgot the logistics of sorting out the cake?
He might not have forgotten that he's making it, just didn't think of how to transport it because he got swept up in wanting to be with his son ... ?
You have a back-up just in case which is a good thing, but I'm sure he won't let you down

    Hugs etc to everyone ❤️

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with how you wear your make up. I do it the same; mainly to close the gap between my liquid liner on top, plus the bottom does the exact same as you.

If she’s really bothered shouldn’t she put white eye liner at the bottom, as this makes eyes wider (apart from me it makes me eyes smaller, black makes mine wider) I know what you mean about not wanting to be different from you, I’m doing the same with my makeup. I’ve brought stuff I normally wear and some extra special stuff like smash box and urban decay and just using them. I would pay for someone to do my make up but I’m really fussy and don’t really like people touching my face.

Hope your ok lovely and feeling better! He will fix everything, they always seem to, or they always seem to put things in perspective that you never looked at before and it makes everything a lot less crappy.

That’s how I kind of find you guys here too ? makes me realise how irrational I’m being with things because to me in my wedding world its major but when I get an answer I’m like “oh yeaaaaaaaa such a spoon, i should calm down.” That’s exactly how I felt when you replied about the cake just now! Your probably 100% right and I need to just calm myself down hahaha!

Thank you for being my voice

Ah I pleased to hear I'm not the only one who wears her eye liner that way ?
I have told her that I want black eye liner, it's what I always wear and it's how I like to look. It's also how my OH is used to seeing me. I know if I turn up minus my normal eye liner and wearing lipstick + eye shadow he'll probably ask why he's marrying a different lady!
I'm going back for another trial on 13th June and I've written down exactly how I want to look, and my MOH is coming as my back-up. I did really like how she did my eyebrows and eye shadow so I hope she won't feel too criticized.
I wanted to do my own make-up but when I'm nervous I get shaky hands ... clearly that wouldn't work ...
It's good that you know what to use and bought some special make-up, I'm sure you'll look fabulous!

I'm feeling a bit better today thank you. We had to have my other cat Nala put to sleep so I was in bits as we only had Gizmo put to sleep recently ?
I know my OH is trying to make me feel better though, my favourite dinner is being cooked for me later ?

Aw hunni I don't think you were being irrational, or a spoon! It's so easy to get wrapped up in our little wedding worlds that sometimes we can't see the wood for the trees. I'm always 100% right ?
Am happy to be your voice, as long as your mine when I next get in a strop haha!

I am amazed more people do not get married in October. You can have some lovely weather and the trees look amazing for photos with their autumnal colours. Our weather in the UK is pretty unreliable so even if you choose a July/August wedding there are still no guarantees.

Me too, everyone looks at me like I’m crazy when I do it, it just gives you a good line between your lashes and your eyelid. Just a pain sometimes when my eyes are tired haha!

I think that’s the exact same thing my H2B would be like if I turned up all spray tanned and made up like someone I’m not. I’m pale and like lined eyes with a dash of red lippy, so that’s how I’ll look on the day, just a lot nicer. I say I’m doing it, I will have shaky hands like you so my SIL is doing it. She always looks good so I trust her, plus she knows me and what I look like make up wise so won’t go mental with it.

I’m sure she won’t feel criticized she will probably be happy with the fact that you told her so that you are happy with the makeup and don’t just have it because that’s how she’s done it. Either way I’m sure she will do an ace job and you will look stunning!?

Oh no!! Big hug lovely! I’m so sorry that your fur babies had to go through that. Hope you feel better soon and your H2B sounds like a good egg for doing your fave dinner and looking after you.?

Hahah you are right, I shall not argue with that! Hehe! Also that’s a deal! We can just be the jimmy cricket for each other hehe.?

Thanks for the hugs ladies, it's so strange how attached you get to your fur babies =/
But they were both 18 years old and we did love them lots so at least I know they were happy

Am pleased you think my hair is fab AnnaMolly ?
The opinions I get from you lovely ladies really does help...
Cannot wait to see a flash of your shoes, definitely worth delaying voting for ?

Lui I'll happily accept you as my Jiminy Cricket, especially since we wear our eye liner the same 'weird' way haha!
My OH isn't too keen on the thought of me having a fake tan but I want to try it just to see how it looks on me. I've been told that the one I'm having reacts with the pigments in your skin so it simply tans you to the colour you would go naturally. Guess we'll find out in June...
Definitely agree that if your happy to stick to what you (and your OH) know and like, then you should. Good ol SIL to the rescue ?

I'll obviously tell her in the nicest way that I appreciate what she was trying to do and the look she was aiming for, but I want my look. I can't see how she can argue with that, after all I'm the one paying for a service!

I can honestly say neither myself or my OH have ever been called Good Eggs but that did make me chuckle!!

    Good luck FutureMrsKay ?

AnnaMolly – its always about shoes first!

Talking about shoes, well shoes and boots, I finally purchased a pair of 14 eyelet Dr Martens and they arrived the other day. I think I’m in love with a pair of boots! Hehe! Only down side is due to running i have muscular legs, and they stick out to much over the top of the boot if i do them up too tight.

Anyway, when is your holiday? Is it soon? I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed a holiday! Haha so tired.

TheFutureMrsKay – Good luck on your exam today lovely!!

LMP – Oh god tell me about it, Archer is only 3 years old but he is one of the family now, H2B does like to say that I love Archer more than him.... but hey Archers the one who runs to the front door when I walk in hehe.

I consider everyone else who doesn’t wear the eyeliner our way weird! Ha! I think its dependant on your eye and shape and all that.

That doesn’t sound like a bad fake tan. But I know what you mean, I’m as pale as pale comes (any photo of me as you’ve seen makes me pale although doesn’t show the true paleness) so i think H2B would be so confused, but the spray tan your having sounds good, sounds like it just gives you a warm glow.

Oh god yea I know you totally would, it’s always best to say things in a nice way, which I think all use ladies here know hehe.

God the stuff I come out with, lol, I call people anything and everything, if you’re not an egg you’re a bean. Haha. H2B is often a sausage. Something about me calling people food items.

Ooh Lui you've just remind me that my holiday is on the 15th June ... yay!! We're only having a little caravan holiday in Weymouth, but my gosh am I looking forward to it ?

Your Dr Martens sound so cool, I am a wee bit jealous! I'm sure they look fab ?

Aw Archer sounds like such a lovely kitty, so cute that he runs to the door to meet you!
My OH was told when we met, if you don't like cats or dogs then we have a problem. He used to find it odd that the cats got a cuddles before he did ?

I literally know nothing about make-up, so I'll just nod and pretend I understand about eyes and shapes etc...

I'm also ridiculously pale, I could make Casper look tanned! I was just worried of looking washed out as my dress is ivory, so I figured it was worth trying. I'm having it done a few days before I go away so if it goes wrong at least I'll be somewhere no-one knows me! Hopefully I'll end up with a warm glow ... I'll let you know

I've actually written down what I want to say, as I know that I'll forget in a months time. My MOH thinks I've lost the plot haha

Your sayings honestly crack me up! My OH just gets called Lumpy or Chuckles!

    Ah Lui DMs? Yes!

I have also fallen in love with some shoes, my wedding ones. Well the ones I was supposed to be wearing for the wedding. I think I'm going to have to send the back :-( They are absolutely stunning, and look fab on but I can't really walk in them and they are really not comfortable!!

I would flash a pic but stupid glitchy hitched won't let me at the moment.

    Back to the drawing board.

    Oh no Smiley sad
Sorry to hear your wedding shoes are uncomfortable, that massively sucks!
Are there any others that you like that you could get instead ... ?

It's nice to know someone else is going to use fake tan as well Smiley smile
I've never used it before, apparently the one I'm booked in to try is fake bake? Have you ever tried that at all? I'd love to know what to expect!

AnnaMolly – I know!! I’ve been wanting some since I was 16, then this time I was like, ahhh sod it lets splash out!

Oh noooo! Thats so pants that they are not comfy and you can’t walk in them! That sucks!! Can you find some like that at all? Like close style, maybe a smaller heals? What are you looking for, i can always have a nose on my lunch for you ?

LMP – Oh yey!! That’ll be lovely! Hopefully you’ll get some good weather too (not like now where its like a monsoon where i am).

I love them, they are so shiny and big and Dr Marten like haha!

Archer is adorable but a little spoon, he’s very needy because he doesn’t go out (living on a first floor flat its not possible.) plus he likes to have all the attention on his terms. His new trick, is walking us to his treats cupboard and staring at it. Naughty little kitty!

Hahah I like that your H2b said that to you! Haha!

I’m with both you ladies, my legs make milk look liked its a tanned, but I go get worried that I’m going to wash out in my dress but i should be ok, might make me look a little different, plus as I’ve dyed my hair more of a lighter brown now I think that helps me. Although I love the fact that you ladies feel my pain on being pale as pale can be. Definitely let us know how its goes!

Thats a good plan, plus you then know what you want to say and that you feel confident as you’ve known for a while. I know where your coming from!

    Haha thank you lovely!!

Side note, invites went out yesterday, I know some people have them, so just waiting for RSVPs now!

I've had fake bake before. I liked it. I think the fake tan is as good as the prep work. Good exfoliation and moisturiser on spots where tan tends to stick and you'll be all good.

Shoe wise there might be some other options, but seriously I am in love with these ones. Will be hard to send them back!

Just tried to flash again but no luck, hitched doesn't like me today! Even posting is proving hard.
