Morning ladies! Had a little break from here for a while, every time I came back to the thread there was so much to catch up on I kept thinking, I'll review it properly tomorrow, at the weekend,... ha ha, the truth is, we're all so dedicated that this thread never stops!

So I'm going to be reeeally lazy and just jump back in here! How is everyone?! I've had no progress...my invites were supposed to be getting made end of March but they're still not finished :/ starting to get a bit panicky now, especially as some of you have started getting RSVP's back - eep!

Has anyone got anything new or shiny to flash? xx

    Morning Everyone,

LMP – thank you, I still am wondering why I decided to do it, but hey oh it wouldn’t be a fun life if we didn’t push ourselves.

You are so lucky, nearly everyone who doesn’t have a plus one is asking for one, it really made me think about scrapping it all and just eloping yesterday because I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of it all.

I’m completely with you and think it’s rude but apparently not to half of our guests. It does just make me think, do people think we are made of money?

    Anyways how was your weekend?

Stephied – Hi lovely, glad your back! Oh no what a shame about your invites! Have they said whats caused the delay? Did you send out STD’s at all?

Lui - that's properly cheeky with the invites. Like you say, I would never dream of inviting someone else with me! Some people really don't get it - we've had people already make comments about how they can't wait for the wedding and I'm thinking, we weren't going to invite you ha ha....

Re the invites, it's one of my best friends doing them for me, her husband is a graphic designer and that was their present to us. I see her most days and she does keep telling me it's all in hand, but they put their house up for sale, they've had a holiday and I think the poor little invites have been forgotten about a little bit...! I think as long as we get them in the next fortnight or so, we should be ok, going to put 1 August as RSVP date.

Stephied – I know! Some of it is family as well. I just don’t get why people don’t just realise that the people whose names are on the invite are the only ones invited.

Oh dear, that’s not good. Hope you don’t have the same issues as me when your invites go out.

Hopefully you get them soon; he’s probably not wanted to do half a job so waited to get all that out the way so that he can spend time on your invites. You should be ok with the deadline of the 1st August. That’s my deadline which gives us one month for chasing people before we have to submit the numbers to the venue. I have no doubt that everything will work out fine!

Apart from the invites, do you have much else to do?

LMP - we've not moved yet. It's going to be a nightmare with the catchment area thing. Not sure I really get it either!

Lui - I can't believe people ask if someone else can come. I would never have done that even before I realised the stress and expense of planning of wedding!

I still can't insert pictures!!! Grrrr. It's so annoying, I don't know what changed and why I can't do it anymore :-/

AnnaMolly – I guess people just don’t know the cost of things anymore (how old do I sound) and just think this is acceptable! One woman at work who I spoke to just told me to stern with them which I think I will be!

Catchment areas are crazy! I swear they change them whenever they want and just confuse all the parents.

Eep, is there anyone on hitched that we could report it to maybe?

    Hi Stephied Smiley smile
Sorry to hear your worried about your invites, hopefully your friend will pick them up and get them all finished for you.
I think you'll be fine with 1st August RSVP date as long as your venue are happy with that ... gives you time to chase up stragglers!
I will have shiny new things to flash soon, am just waiting for the last few bits to be posted to me for my girly gift boxes and then I can put these together and show you all.

Lui, I'm sorry your feeling down about it hun. Have a weird Internet hug.
I guess people don't think about the number of guests invited, the food, the drinks, the favours, the budget etc etc =/
My weekend went far to quickly but I have updated my wedding to do list today and am hoping to cross off a few more bits this week.
    How was your weekend?

AnnaMolly I'm not sure why you can't insert pictures. The only thing I can suggest is maybe save them in a different format?

LMP – Thanks, I’ve decided to ignore all requests from now and just go with it.

Glad to hear that you have done a lot and got the list down. Is there much more to do? Mine was good, H2B, BM had their baby on Monday so we went down to visit them this weekend and spend as much time with her. She’s adorable, so tiny, I think H2B is smitten by her; it’s his first “niece” so to speak. Then it was H2B birthday so we celebrated that and came home, it was some nice time away! Loved it!

Just back at boring work now hahaha! Its dragging though, however Mondays always do!

Are you going to let people know that they can't bring a plus 1? Or are you going to let them and just be done with it all ...?

There's still a fair bit to do but I feel better now I know exactly what's left.
Aw that is so cute, one of my friends just had a baby and she's so dinky!
I just love little babies, obviously my niece was the cutest one ever ❤️ !

Hope Mr Lui had a nice birthday Smiley smile

I’m going to be firm and say no sadly numbers are tight and we don’t have any room sorry. Fed up of being taken for a ride, and people thinking that we have the money to spare to allow extra people. Plus once you allow one you have to allow others so it’s a no from me *imagine me in a dragon dens platform and they are asking me* hahaha!

He did he was so spoilt! Hehe we set a budget because i’m the poor one at the moment, he stuck to it, I trebled it! Oops!

Babies are the best, this is the second baby within 2 months and both are adorable! I know what you mean I’m totally biased with mine! I love them all hehe!

Mondays are the worst! Boo Mondays!! Only plus side is we are going to see Mad max tonight for H2B birthday BUT obviously we need to get game of thrones in before that because I’ve read (without spoilers) its a good’un.

Good for you, be strong! I'm sure you'll get it all sorted. It's damn cheeky for people to invite others, I can't believe people think its ok.

Oops indeed, silly you! Ah well we have to spoil our OH's sometimes Smiley smile

Ooh let me know if Mad Max is any good, I want to take OH to see it this week. GOT is always a good'un, not impressed with how different it is to the book though as now I don't know what will happen!!

That was my idea, just have to spoil him, plus he always does it to me so this is the one year he hasn’t so it’s only fair hehe.

I will do, I’m so excited, only downside is that it’s in 3D, not a fan of 3D but it was the better time. I will definitely let you know. I’m excited for it, as it has awesome reviews and yknow Tom Hardy haha!

I’ve heard it’s because it’s done all the books and as they George RR Martin is still writing this one (and possibly may not finish) he’s told the creators what is going to happen but not how they get there so from that they are making it, it’ll be interesting how it goes!

    Ooh Tom Hardy ... yum.
I don't tend to get on with 3D, it sets off my funny headaches =(

Well they haven't covered all of the books, certain characters have had all their parts already and some of the others have gone w-a-y off of what is in the books. But I heard something similar, apparently George RR Martin has told the writers of the show a few key points but from this series on the books and the show are going to be completely different

Oh no, GoT better not be a good one, I have to wait till tomorrow to watch it as OH is out tonight and we always watch it together.

I REALLY want to see Mad max but get a babysitter isn't always easy so it might be a while before we see it.

On the wedding front, I've ordered more shoes! Second time lucky??

Annamolly - I want to marry those shoes ❤️ they are beautiful!!

Lui/LMP - yeah I'm sure they'll be here soon...I only need to give final numbers to venue 7 days before (!) I just know that it's going to be a pain finalising OH's huge family so giving myself plenty of time to sort out ha ha. PLENTY of time!

I've kind of lost my excitement for everything at the moment? Not sad, I just think I've done all the fun stuff, now it's all the boring bits like, sorting OH's suit, timings, seating plans etc. All the admin type stuff left to do Smiley sad booo - it was much more fun looking at pretty dresses and shoes on pinterest!

    Hey all,

We both think it is rude to ask to bring a plus 1 but we anticipated it and had a note in our 'information for guests' sheet. It mentioned about plus 1s, children etc. and stated (in a nicer way than this) that unless your name is on the invite, you're not invited. Our catering is sooo expensive that each extra person costs a lot. As for the evening guests, we have been a bit more relaxed as that will not cost us much.

I'm having my hair and make-up trial next week. I have a pretty good idea of what to go for for my hair (thanks Pinterest) but am undecided on the make-up. I am quite short, am very fair-skinned, am blue-eyed and have dark red/metallic red hair. My dress is an ivory colour. I am undecided on whether to go for the natural look or for something a little more. I have a beautiful deep red lipstick (Chanel) that looks fab but I don't know if this will be too much. Any ideas?

I must be quite sad in the fact that I like doing some of the admin things because it's great seeing how far we've come and how much we have been able to save as well as seeing there are fewer jobs to be done!

    xx

Morning ladies, how are you all today?
I should hopefully have something new to flash soon, just waiting for one last thing to arrive in the post then the presents for my mum BM & MOH are finally finished yay!!

AnnaMolly - I absolutely LOVE those shoes! Very very pretty Smiley smile
Hope their nice and comfy for you...

Stephied - I'm totally a fan of giving yourself enough time to sort everyone out ?
Hm, there's gotta be some more fun stuff for you to do ... maybe look at Pinterest for present ideas? That was fun till it turned out to also be expensive!

Cat D - An information for guests sheet is a great idea, wish I'd thought of that Smiley smile
Ooh good luck for your hair & make-up trial next week. I had my hair inspiration all sorted thanks to Pinterest and ended up going with something a bit different as the style I'd picked didn't suit me ... boo!
As for make-up, I'm quite similar to you as I'm also very pale & blue eyed (although I'm blonde) and am wearing an ivory dress. I've opted to have fairly natural make-up, silvery eye shadow and gorgeous pinky lipstick which I never thought would look nice and surprised myself with. Although I am having my adored eyelash extensions Smiley smile
I don't think your Chanel lipstick would be too much, maybe it would be best to try a few and see which one you like best?
How are your plans coming along now?

    Hi all,

I have mostly just been reading the posts in this forum, but I thought I would say hi! Smiley smile

I'm getting married on Sunday 4th October, but have only been engaged since 26th April. So literally in the last three weeks we have:

    1. Found a venue
    2. Booked the venue
    3. Booked a registrar
    4. The photographer
    5. Hair & make-up
    6. Honeymoon
    7. Catering
    8. Accommodation
    9. Got the rings
    10. The invites are a week or two away from sending
    11. Booked the DJ
    12. and have drinks to welcome, to toast and for the meal

The main bits left now are finding the dress, hiring the suit, and then lots of little bits like place cards and wedding favours.

I've not seen anyone else on here who seems to be attempting the planning in a short 5 month period, but it does mean I have a shorter space of time to wait excitedly now! Smiley laugh

Wow CornishBride that is seriously impressive! I wish that I had been able to have a shorter engagement as I found there's a lot of doing nothing and I just want to get married. I did want to get married in October though and got engaged September 2014 which would have been cutting it fine for a October 2014 wedding! My hairdresser got engaged and planned a wedding in 6 weeks which I never truly appreciated until I started wedding planning.

Cat D - I love a red lip, I bet it looks amazing with your hair. Definitely not too much in my opinionSmiley smile

    Hi CornishBride,
Your wedding is the day after Sparkly Bear and myself, almost date twins Smiley smile

I must admit I'm seriously impressed with how much you've done so far, especially since it's only a recent engagement! I got engaged Friday 13th November 2013 and I'm still behind on planning ?
Sounds like you're very organised, and you still have dress shopping to do ... that was definitely my favourite part so far!

Still struggling to keep up with all the posts and feel I am playing catchup, but I am slowly getting up to speed - you ladies post a lot! lol!

My main excitement this week is that the invites are being printed up and sent to me! Yay! We are also going away for a wedding free holiday this weekend - out only holiday this year apart from the honeymoon.

I noticed some people mentioning information sheets - we have one but it is online at http://www.yourweddingweb.co.uk/ It is worth looking at/playing with if you don't have an information sheet. We plan on printing this out for those few still not online too.

We have found that BHS does some lovely Ivory waistcoats too - going to be getting my card out for a purchase as soon as we get paid.

    ThefutureMrsKay

I have my fingers crossed on your job hunting! xxx

You reminded me I really need to try and get something from Sheffield Wednesday Football club for OH - did you write to them first or just call them? Did you feel cheeky? I am not sure I have the nerve to ask a stranger for something (I am surprisingly shy!) I also love the Thorntons chocolates idea - a definite treat!

    Lui

Our photographer is an acquaintance. He is doing us a deal on the day and asked for food. Our hotel however, said that home made chips and sandwiches would be sufficient and is their usual offering to the tog. He will be sat in the side bar and will eat at the same time as us. If your tog is a friend though, I think you need to ask yourself where would he sit if he wasn't the tog? If he would be a guest, seat him with guests. If he wouldn't be there, serve him food in another room. Hth!

With our invitations we have tried to stop problems before sending them out by asking people if they need a plus one or by stating we plan to invite them on their own - we assume this is ok. I am giving 2 plus ones out. One is my cousin (chances are it will be my step cousin as the plus one so thats ok) and the other is coming from Reading on her own and won't know many people.

Proof is in the pudding though - fingers crossed I don't get people asking me too! It seems to be a major problem with most weddings from the boards- no idea why people do it - it must be so frustrating.

I did consider that if anyone got truly upset about it, downgrade them to evening with a plus one or ask them to pay in full for their plus one day guest! Not sure if I have the nerve to do it, but it does give me some wiggle room.

    LittleMissPanda

Thank you for commenting on the invites - I was getting totally paranoid with no one saying anything and felt very sad about it. My BM has come back and okayed them too. I am not a girly girl and hearts and flowers just aren't me - not even on my wedding day! :-)

I have also purchased PJ's for the morning of the wedding - they are selling Bambi ones in Asda which are cute and cheap (and contrary to the above, are not girly! Lol! (Everyone does disney!)) Would definitely love to see a pic of you all in your PJ's though - you will look awesome!

    Stephied9384

I am in the same boat as you - I struggle to keep up with posts! Glad I am not the only one xx

I have also not sent out my invites either (see above) so you are not alone - don't panic! My RSVP is also set as 31st August so you have me a little worried! I am doing my own table plan though, so the venue doesn't need to know numbers until the week before - do you think thats too late?

    AnnaMolly

I have purposely avoided GoT so far - but I am always tempted to start and catch up! Can you tell me why it is so good? I am much more geeky than my OH so I need to convince him it is worth switching over from car programmes for.

You have Jimmy Choos? Wow! I have to stick to simple flats after a knee injury. Doesn't stop me looking though ;-)

    CornishBride89

Congratulations in getting so much done in quick time! I got engaged in January and know it takes a lot out of you. I prefer the short wait - don't think I could plan for 2 years!

    Morning ladies.

First thing I have to say is MAD MAX WAS AMAZING! Loved it haha! Made me want to be a stunt car driver! Really do and Tom Hardy ?

You ladies need to let me know when you have watched GoT, seriously! I need to talk to someone about it hahah! Also watched the finale of Mad men too!

Cat D – Thinking back I wish I did that now, or somewhere I also read that working it like a cheque and placing only after all the names stops it too, I laughed at the time but really wish I thought of it. I ended up emailing them and saying no, sorry numbers are tight.

I’m having red lippy on the day; I love it and don’t go out without wearing it so the wedding is no different. If it helps I’m having very nude shade eye shadow with sparkles in it (any urban decay fans out there I’m using midnight cowboy) then having some winged eyeliner and some red lips. My friend had dark eyes and added some lippy in the night for the evening do so if you’re not sure about it in the day you can always do that ?

AnnaMolly – BEAUTIFUL SHOES!! Hope these ones fit and are comfy! They are really really beautiful! ?

    Cornishbride89 – Welcome to the group!! ?

Wow you have done loads!! You’re really on track! I’ve seen it done in 5 months so it is possible plus your right you don’t have the long wait like the rest of us. I’ve been planning since Jan 2014 and really want it to be here by now. Doesn’t help its wedding season right now and loads of people I know are getting married, just give me pangs of jealousy that they are getting married now, but it’s ok as soon as their blues kick in, it’ll be my turn!

You have the best part yet to come, the dress shopping is always good fun! Do you have any idea of styles?

The admin part is so boring. Nothing to do, really at the lull point now I think.

Although our photobooth was paid off yesterday and we handed in the menu to our caterer, which is all good.

I'm so glad I've managed to find people getting married in October too.

I did wonder when I managed to pick my chosen date at my chosen venue without any trouble. My big sister had to wait two years to get her venue.

Everythings happening so fast. I'm glad I only have the short wait, but I'm also envious everyone here has had so much time.

I really hope I don't forget anything important.

My venue is Tregenna Castle in St Ives if anyone wants to see!

Blimey. my turn to fall behind today!

misslynx - That's exciting your invites are on the way Smiley smile you can soon join The Great RSVP Wait ?
Ooh where are you going for your holiday weekend? I must admit a wedding free holiday sounds like heaven at the moment!
Thanks for posting the link to your information sheet, bit late for me as I've done my invites now but it looks good.
Aw I did see some Bambi pj's in Primark when I was hunting around, they are definitely cute Smiley smile
Will definitely flash a pic of us all the morning of!
I can't describe why GoT is so good, I just think it's amazing. I have read the books, but my OH enjoys it just as much as I do. It's very clever, lots of interlinking plots, schemes and most importantly ... it has dragons ...

Lui - Ooh glad to hear Mad Max was amazing, am looking forward to seeing it now Smiley smile
I was wondering if you could help me actually as we're follow weird eye liner buddies! The last trial I had the MUA used a gold eye shadow, as it she said it was warm and silver would be too cold. Now I get that I'm pale and blonde, but I couldn't see the gold eye shadow at all, and much prefer silver (like I wear for a special occasion). Do you have any recommendations for good, long lasting eye shadow? I'm thinking of buying my own and asking her to use what I provide ...
Yay for paying off your photobooth, another thing to tick off the list!
No talk of food please, I'm SOOO hungry ...

CornishBride - It's really good that you were able to get your venue for such a close date, I've heard of venues booking up 2 years in advance Smiley smile
Your venue is lovely, St Ives is such a nice place. I'm sure you'll get everything sorted and have a great wedding

AnnaMolly - yay for a working ticker! Now fix your pictures :p

LMP – I’m happy to help, what type of silver are you looking for? Normally for eye shadow as it’s something I rarely use I use use urban decay, Ruby and millie (however they are currently revamping the company and are not selling any make up at the moment) or Sephora and use an eye shadow primer.

    Heres the urban decay one:

    /en_GB/eyes/24-7-moondust-shadow/ud1052.html

It’s metallic and glittery but they do another one which is less metallic which is this one:

    /en_GB/eyes/24-7-shadow/ud1053.html

Sephora have a nude collection which is lovely and it has a lovely silver one in it:

    https://www.sephora.com/moonshadow-baked-palette-in-the-nude-P292307?skuId=1325885

I know they are a little bit on the pricy side, I don’t really wear eye shadow so I really treat myself with them because it is always for going out or posh occasions that I wear them.

The primer I use is an American make which you can get from Amazon, it looks like something you would get from the market and only costs like £3ish but it is amazing stuff, my eye liner never comes off, nor my eye shadow even in sweaty situations (nightclubs people, stop being filthy hahah!) Its got really good reviews from bloggers in America:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eyes-Eyelid-Primer-Sheer-7501/dp/B00E3AZI3W/ref=pd_cp_beauty_0

Also I just spotted the same company make a nice palette of eye shadows and the silver in there is lovely looking:

Cornishbride – Oh thats stunning! Such a lovely place! Wow your sister had to wait 2 years for availability? I’ve never known anyone have to do that.

Annamolly – Yey Ticker, although i do second the photos from LMP hehe!

Misslynx – ah yes the great RSPV situation, its more thrilling then waiting paint dry! YEY Holiday, where you off too? I’m not having a holiday until my honeymoon; really need one though so i feel your pain.

Wish i saw that before doing the invites, oh well you live and learn hey!

GoT – well what can I say, it has a lot going on and does draw you in and there are many many beautiful people in it that help you with watching! It just hooks you and draws you in!

Argh I'm drowning Google tabs now ?
Thank you for helping me, I'm such a make-up novice!
I'll definitely get the primer from Amazon, seems silly not to try it when it's so affordable. I'm not too keen on the metallic glittery eye shadows, but I do like the other Urban Decay ones ... I find it hilarious that the one I really like is called S&M!
(although its out of stock ... sulk)
I quite like the sephora moon shadow ones, not sure if I'd use all the colours thou =/

I so want cake now Smiley sad

Hahaha sorry! I didn’t know what you wanted and got carried away, then spent a lot of time looking at makeup I wish I had, then remembered that I don’t have the money or space for anything more haha!

I would say I’ll have a look at what I’ve got at home as I don’t really use silver however I know I’ve got a Maybelline one but I’m not a fan of it as its one of those tattoo ones and Its just to cakey for me.

The sephora one is lovely, I have palette quite similar and don’t use all of them, and however the lighter ones I use to highlight my brows at the top.

So much choice though! Hehe! I had a whale of a time ordering my makeup.

    .... i still want cake...

Miss Lynx- I sent a letter to their public relations manager, asking if they were able to do anything for me. She emailed me back to say that she could get a card signed by the first team. I felt a little guilty, because she was so helpful, so I asked her if there were any club charities that I could donate a little money too. Perhaps you could do this? It helps everyone out?

This thread moves so fast! My job interview went well; they didn't offer me the job that I applied for, but they offered another one instead. It's an ok job, but not exactly what I wanted. So I'm taking some time to think about it. I had another interview yesterday for a job I would really like; I think it went really well, so fingers crossed! My job search is on hold until I come back from holiday; I go next week, so there's no real point applying for any now.

All your make up ideas sound wonderful! I should really start looking at inspiration for myself.

I've working the awful midnight shift, but it's given me loads of time to do wedding stuff! Over the past week, I've finished a lot of my stationary: table names, sparkler tags, name place cards, bathroom basket signs and chocolate fountain sign. We've done a mock-up seating plan too; it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Which means I've probably done it wrong! Hahaha.

I hope you're all ok. It's less than 5 months for me and a few others now! How did that happen?!
