    Morning Smiley smile
So who wants a little giggle, and feel good 'yeah go girl' moment...?

My OH called me in a right flap yesterday, saying the boiler was broken. We had no hot water, no heating, nothing. He arranges an appointment with our landlord and we were due to get it fixed this morning.
BUT I FIXED IT MYSELF ?
Ok granted I only had to re-pressurize it and then re-light the pilot light, but hey, I still did it! OH was not impressed ?

Lui - Thank you for all the eye shadow links, I'm still trying to decide what to buy! I think my original MUA used a darker silver and blended it with a really light silvery colour, I honestly have no idea. I think I might need to have a look on Pinterest, see if I can figure out what look I exactly want Smiley smile
    I still want cake...

TheFutureMrsKay - fingers crossed you get the job you really want Smiley smile
Sounds like you've been really busy again! A few of us have crept past the less than 5 months mark now, it's scary how quick it's going!

LittleMisPanda - Ha ha, that's really funny! I'm glad you managed to fix it! :-)
It wasn't that long ago that my own boiler was broken, but it took literally 3 months to find a plumber who could actually fix the thing. I wish it had just been the pressure like yours, but apparently the 'computer' inside it had died! Only the manufacturer could fix it. :-o

Me and my OH are going to give notice at the registry office today. I really don't know what to expect. Do they interview you separately?

    Morning!

LMP - this is amazing! You are a super hero! We had something like that ages ago, took our landlord a week to fix it! Cold showers for a week did not make me a happy Lui! However they needed a part so I'm glad I didn't try! I'm super impressed! I have an imagine if you as super woman!

Let me know how it goes, I'm currently pinning all the make up ideas for me too! My nail transfers arrived yesterday so just now need to test them out and buy a white nail varnish! I know I still want cake! I'm so sorry for inflicting this craving on you!

Cornishbride - I did mine in March and they just really asked my name, address, work place, job title and then the same for h2b. However I have heard that other people have been asked about their jobs. I think it depends if you are getting married in the same county as your giving notice. I'm not so I don't think they cared to much to ask more than the basic requirements.

Awww bliss balloons you could join us as an honorary October bride! We would love to hear about your planning!

Oh I know that feeling Bliss, I’m kind of at that stage (trying to get everything done as early as I can as my whole of august is booked out and July is becoming close to having no free weekends either!)

Is it all the little bits left? The little bits are the worst and the most boring. ☹️

Ohhhh heres a question you may know the answer too as you’re getting married earlier, many of us are thinking of getting our rings cleaned and re-dipped, when do you think it would be the best time to do that?

Have no fear, for Wonder Woman is here! ?
I'm so glad it wasn't the computer inside the boiler, or a broken part ... that would've been outside of my very limited skills!

CornishBride when my OH and I gave notice we both got 'interviewed' separately but we only had to confirm names, DOB & place of birth. We then spoke to the registrar together, and had to confirm our occupations and father's occupations. Nothing terrible Smiley smile

Lui, will you flash the nail transfers? I'm intrigued ...
I found a nail varnish in my rather extensive collection last night that perfectly matches my wedding lipstick, that's one less thing to buy!

Bliss Balloons, please spy away :p
If we can help we will, we are quite friendly Smiley smile

Sure I will, I’ve got a small tester one which is just a little owl and not the day of the dead skulls that I am using. I haven’t got any white but will try them with a pale colour and see. The instructions are quite straight forward (she says!) so hopefully they turn out ok. I only really want them on my thumb ring finger on both hands and then just a normal sparkly nail somewhere.

I was thinking maybe a nude but I’m not sure, my colour theme is black and white so white nails would go just don’t want to look like I’ve tippexed my nails haha!

    Hahaha,?

In the photo example the white looks nice, but I’m not sold. I think it may mean a little light online shopping of nail colours.

Lui - Yeah I'm trying to get things sorted a.s.a.p because I know the next couple of months are going to fly by. It's mainly the little bits but there seems to be a lot of them! As soon as I buy one thing it reminds me of something else I need to get. Oh still hasn't sorted out his suits or his ring, I'm forcing him suit shopping this weekend! Then we need to decide on readings and music. We need to do an evening guest list and get the invites sent for them. I think a lot of you in here are more organised than me lol

As for rings, I went to Ernest Jones the other day to get my wedding ring cleaned (it was my Gran's) and they said it's best to wait until as near the time as possible to get the engagement ring done so that it stays 'fresh', so she said about a month before would be plenty of time.

It’s always the way isn’t it! You always remember last bits right at the end when you thought you have completed your budget and ready!

That’s crazy about OH, although most men do seem to have that laid back approach compared to us ladies towards the end. Wish we had the luxury of that! Hope you guys find a decent suit and suitable ring for him!

I think my H2B is off to Bicester next month or July to get a suit which he will then need tailored. I’ve left him to it because the thought of buying something that needs tailoring this late in the day is wrong lol! I brought my dress by Feb last year! As you can tell, I’m the organised one of the two of us.

Thank you!! That’s what I was thinking about doing so I’m glad I’ve got a good timeline for it! It’s nice that you have an heirloom as your ring! Thats so lovely ?

As most of us ladies are in between the 5 month and the 4 month mark, what advice do you have for us? hehe

Side note, I think I could actually throttle my H2b right now, so his friend said she wanted to be our videographer (told us she was going to do it as soon as we got engaged) so we said that we would pay her as its only fair, after a while we decided we actually need to think about getting it together, and with granddad not coming to the ceremony its now really important.

She mentioned her sound guy wouldn’t be available so couldn’t catch the sound, so now this really important so I decided to look elsewhere. Found a really lovely guy and H2B asked me to email him, he’s given us packages that are within our price range. We were just about to sort it and H2B has just emailed me saying that he’s been thinking about it and doesn’t want to spend that much money on something that we could ask a friend to do.

Getting annoyed with all this flip flopping of what’s happening and what’s not happening. Just wish he would make his mind up because knowing my luck, he will wait too long (or forget knowing him!) and we won’t be able to get someone in time.

Men hey! Worse with woman when it comes to something’s and making up their minds.

p.s. I have a cunning plan is not something I wanted to hear from H2B just now haha!

So an update regarding videographer, H2B has managed to get his friend to get her sound guy together and accept £700 that we can afford. All we have to do is let them stay in our flat. Which is fine cause it means free cat care haha!

His friend runs her own production company so it’s going to be an awesome wedding video haha!

His cunning plan seemed to pan out haha!

Lui - That's great that you've got your videographer sorted! Everything seems to work out in the end. :-)

Just an update on the giving notice to marry, it was all successful, but they definitely ask some unusual questions. One of them, for example, was do you know if you are related in any way? Are we brother and sister?
It makes sense why they ask things like this. I just wasn't expecting it.

    Morning all Smiley smile

Ooh Lui if you need any help picking nail varnish, I'll happily help! I own w-a-y too many, but yet I always manage to buy more ?
Glad to hear your OH's plan panned out and yay for free cat care ... that's one less thing to worry out! Your vog sounds awesome Smiley smile

Good to hear that giving notice went ok Cornish Bride, and yes that is a weird question to ask! Can see why they have to check though...

bliss balloons I hope your OH manages to find a suit and wedding ring that he likes Smiley smile
Thanks for the tip regarding when to get engagement rings cleaned and dipped, I've made a note so I (hopefully) won't forget.

I know what you mean about OH's buying suits later than we would buy our dresses. I got my dress in October time last year, and I ended up buying OH's suit (and his best mans) in January. I just knew if I left to him he wouldn't sort it as he absolutely hates shopping. I think the suit may need a bit of tailoring but I plan on checking that in July.

Off to see the dressmaker this morning to arrange the alterations I need doing. Also yesterday had a successful trip to Bravissimo to get the wedding undies :-)

Will post again later to say how I got on, and will catch up and respond to everyone's messages then too :-) x

Cornishbride – Glad that it went well for you. We got asked if we were related in any way for example Cousins, I had a little giggle to myself.

Lmp - Well I went and did a little nail shopping yesterday before meeting my best friend! Heres what I have so far... Let me know what you think:

This would be a base coat, its called coconut and is off white.

This is the decal I want on my thumb and on my ring finger on both hands.

This glittery one I want just on the little fingers maybe to add a little sparkle!

Then I'm thinking of painting the ones that are blank with this top coat so that they are matte, however Im not sure yet. (I just wanted the matte coat anyways hahaha)

Heres the undies i may have ordered too:

This is the top that I'm having.

This is the bottoms that i'm having!

I’m leaving H2B with his suit. He knows I’ll be annoyed if he doesn’t sort it. Worse case he brought a suit for an interview the other day so theres a back up hahaha.

MrswatkinsToBe- Enjoy! Hope you have fun!!

I love the skull you'll be having on your thumbs and ring fingers! I think the base coat and matte polish would work well together, and definitely have a touch of sparkle on your little fingers Smiley smile

Like the bridal undies, the details on the knickers is really cool.
I really need to speak to my seamstress as she was adamant I don't need a bra so I want to check that before I go shopping. But I have found some nice on Boux Avenue's website so I may be ordering a few bits anyway...

Hopefully Mr Lui knows what's good for him and will get it sorted soon ?

    Thanks lovely

I’m not sure about the matte part of it as tippex still comes to mind but hopefully when I test it all on Thursday (I’m crap at painting my nails so my SIL is doing it for me!) it will look better then in my head.

Worse case no matte and have the glossy with the skull and sparkle! Can never have too much sparkle right!

Thanks! Ohhhh if you don’t then you may save money and your seamstress can sew cups into the dress. Which ones are you thinking of getting?

Mr Lui best hahah! Least your sorted it for Mr Panda so he can just sit back and await the adjustments.

As its coming up to bank holiday any plans to do anything?

    Hiya Smiley smile
I'm sure your SIL will make your nails look lovely, if the matte doesn't work could you maybe do a sparkly tip? As you say, you can never have enough sparkle!
I think that's what the seamstress was on about ... she mentioned before that once the dress fits up top I'll be so secure that a bra will just add unnecessary bulk.

    I'm thinking of getting these...

With these for the wedding night :p

And I have my eye on a nice chemise as well ... good thing I'm working lots!

Haha Mr Panda knows when its best to let me get on with things, sometimes it's best for him to stay out the way ?

My MOH is coming over on Sunday, we're going to do a few wedding bits and then chill out with Disney films. Monday will be spent with my sister and niece Smiley smile
    How about you?

Love the skull Lui, I have a t-shirt like it lol Also loving the undies! I haven't bought mine yet because I'm hoping to lose a bit of weight before the wedding and I don't need a bra, might go for a blue pair, been thinking of these -

As for suits, I've given my oh a budget and hoping they can sort themselves out. He now tells me that his one usher can't make it on Saturday and he's the one I'm worried about (he's 26 stone) so not sure what they're going to do!

EDIT - Love those too LMP, they have such nice stuff on Boux Avuene I might have to get a few bits for honeymoon as well!

    Ooh nice undies bliss balloons!
I absolutely Smiley heart Boux Avenue, it's one of the few places I can always find nice pretty undies in my size (I'm not exactly a size 8!!)
Definitely going to pick up a few extra bits for my honeymoon next year Smiley smile

Not to sure what to say about your OH's usher =/
Can he maybe give your OH his measurements and see what the suit people say?

Thanks LMP I messaged oh about getting his measurements and he already has. He told his usher he's going to struggle getting the suit he wants in his size and his usher response was well you'll just have to sort it I paid for your suit at our weeding (my oh was his bm). He's right but we paid for all our food at his wedding and didn't even get a toast drink so don't see why we should have to pay double for his suit. Grrr.

I’m always unsure about going braless in dresses but I imagine you would be so tight in it, that you are right.

Those pants are lovely! I’ve never heard of this place but I shall have look! Love love love the little blue bow. I’m not a chemise person; think H2B would be so confused if I appeared with that one haha!

Hahah Yea Mr Lui is the same, he knows when I’m in that place doing not get in the way, it’s normally when the spreadsheets or my pink book is out! Haha!

Oh that sounds nice! We are going for a bike ride on Saturday and then a friends leaving party for a few as I’m a bit poor as its right before pay day for me. Then on Sunday going to my parents for dinner and then going to see poltergeist in the evening. Not sure about Monday yet but will want to go and do something.

Bliss – love the pants; are they your something blue? Oh no that’s not good news about your usher. That is really naughty that he’s just gone and said deal with it, when I was a larger size at my brother’s wedding, I made sure that I made time to get fitted and measured because I knew none of the high street stuff would fit me.

Also not everyone’s wedding is the same and people have different budgets he should realise that and knew there may have been a chance of him having to buy something for himself, which he of all people should know if he asked his guests to pay for their own meals.

Maybe he could try look at going separately to the same place with just your H2B on another date? That way least he’s there and measured.

    People are just lovely hey!

bliss balloons - Well firstly I think your OH's usher is very unhelpful! He'd be the first to moan if his suit didn't fit properly or if he didn't like it. I personally think that if you and your OH paid for all your food at the usher's wedding then he should at least offer to pay a bit towards his suit ... especially since I'd imagine his suit will cost you a fair bit more than your OH's suit cost him.

Lui - I'm really unsure about going braless to be fair, I'm not small up top by any shape of the imagination! I have explained my fears to the seamstress (head banging reception = scared of black eyes), and she's booked me in for a fitting in a few weeks so we can look at the dress & discuss what I will/won't need.
I have several chemises for special occasions ... OH always knows when it's an anniversary etc ?

Ooh yes when there's spreadsheets out, stay out of the way!!

Aw your Bank Holiday sounds lovely, and thank you for reminding me that I want to drag OH to watch Poltergeist on Saturday Smiley smile

Thats always my worry about going Braless, its one of the downsides for being given the gift of boobage!! Hopefully she straps you in good! It’s one of the main reasons I didn’t go for a strapless dress!

I’m glad I reminded you! I’m excited as it looks really good and I love Sam Rockwell!

Mines normally fancy underwear, like matching underwear (I do normally match but these are proper fancy matching undies if you get me!)

That’s how Mr Lui knows it’s something special haha!
