Love the red lip Lui! There's something called lipcote you can get in boots that's supposed to seal lipstick. My mum used to use it all the time back in the day! Not tried it myself to know if it works.
Hi Holly! It's the rule round here that if you've bought your dress you must give us a flash
Anyone else got terrible weather today?? It's freezing and p!ssing down with rain. How is this summer? Glad I'm not getting married today!
My son and girlfriend (she is a bridesmaid) are at a wedding today, I feel so sorry for the bride and groom, it'll be starting about now and its raining so hard :-(
I'm loving reading about everyones planning, I have got some inspiration from here.
I have also chosen my dress but don't have a picture to flash as its being altered and isn't from a mainstream bridal gown designer, its from a lady who has a dress business who designs a lot of her own gowns.
Bit of both really Anna I tried one on she already had loved it but wanted a couple of bits of it different so thats what I'll get. Was really lucky to get her as she is booked up months/years in advance! She said it was because the style (50s) I want is a style she especially loves designing and making....she does a lot of medieval type dresses as well as pre worn that she re designs, oh and a service called 'save the day' where she makes good dresses (mostly from china bought online i think) so that they are good to wear.
Just hoping I'll love it as much once the changes have been made, tho I'm sure i will!
AnnaMolly – Thanks lovely! Ohhh brilliant, I’ll take a look
and see if it has any reviews, if its not expensive I’ll give it a bash.
It was raining here but now the suns come out but it’s down
to rain again all over the weekend so I’m not sure what to make of it.
Although now it’s into wedding season and all I’m seeing is
weddings on facebook is anyone else getting a bit fed up and wished our wedding
was now and not in 4-5 months?
Tookmytime – Ohhhhhh lovely! That must be wonderful to have
a completely bespoke wedding dress, made in your vision! Whats the designers
name? I bet you will love it more when it arrives.
So glad it’s not just me AnnaMolly. I’ve had 3-4 wedding on
facebook recently and as much as I enjoy being nosey at them I kinda also want
it to be mine.
I did ask OH if he wished it was earlier. He said no because
we would of had to saved extra hard and really wouldn’t of been able to do half
as much as we have or would have to compromise. Which i get but still 5 months
is AGES AWAY hahaha!
We kind of know exactly what we want from our day however its the paying for it part......
We're going to go with the autumn theme - gold, latte, ivory colours and autumn leaves with loads of candles! What themes have you ladies gone for? Our venue is so beautiful every time we go there I can't actually believe we're getting married there in a few months time - mental! My dress is the exact opposite of what I thought I wanted. Due to planning the wedding so short notice, I've brought a sample dress - saved a small fortune! I want to flash....wedding pics! However new to forums, so stupid question....how do you do it??
Now looking back over your convos, you all seem so organised! Completely get the whole diet/exercise thing! I'm terrible. Before we booked the wedding I was really good - lost 4 stone doing slimming world however now I can't stop stuffing my face - what the effin jeff is that about!
Holly I know exactly what you me a with the eating thing. Everytime I've been to the bridal shop for a week or 2 after I go off the rails! Where it should be the opposite!
Rebecca - your veil is beautiful! I also know what you and Holly mean regarding food! Couldn't stop eating this weekend! Just means I'll have to push myself during the week which will be hard as the girls that I run with have gone on holiday so motivation will be low! Hopefully I can get out there!
Cat - I brought one this weekend as I know the UK weather cannot be trusted! We have a lovely white one which I got from eBay for like £7. Even if we don't use it least it was there as a back up!
So a lot of weddings happened this weekend. Made me excited for mine but seriously it needs to hurry up and be here!
So I’m trying to go full steam ahead with stuff now as my
weekends are really getting busy.
Today I purchased a Mrs & Mrs Lui (although proper
surname) sign to go on the top table. I’m going to paint them black and then
wrap fairy lights around them. Really wanted a personalised one, instead of the
Mr and Mrs one I purchased last year. I’m still going to use this one, it’s going
to go on the cake table in the evening we will move that one and put this one
in its place.
I also ordered confetti; I have 50 cones, a sign and
biodegradable confetti (which is flowers). I’m going to have this in the back
of the ceremony room so that people can take it when they leave. Now just to
get something for it to sit in so it doesn’t fall over ha!
Finally I’ve started on the bathroom boxes. I just need to
put shredded tissues paper in the bottom of it and get some hair stuff for the
men. I thought I would do a little flash
below, because as we know we all love a little flash.
Also my umbrella came and its lovely! It was like £9 and it’ll
do for the one day use.
Seriously someone needs to stop me spending, I’ve now
purchased OH wedding present and the thank you cards for my bridesmaid and maid
of honour. Everything is slowly coming together now.
Love the bathroom baskets! I've been buying like crazy lately, I've just bought some confetti cones because I can't be bothered to make any. Oh's present, that's something else I need to get!
I also brought some cones as I couldn’t be bothered to make
them, but the person I brought them from gives everything (including tape) so I
won’t have to make much up luckily!
Glad I’m not the only one spending my wages on it all. I wasn’t
going to buy his gift yet, however I saw it and with like a £50 discount so had
to buy it!
Those letters are a bargain Lui! Where did you get your confetti from? I'm thinking I should purchase some.
I've also been buying things like a mad woman but nothing wedding related, oops. I don't think I'm good at this wedding planning thing.
Oh and my massive face palm moment of the wedding planning so far, given out the invitations only to have it pointed out that there is no time on them ?
I feel like such an idiot! I also didn't update the numbers for the hotels I'd put on the additional information from my draft so everyone was calling numbers that didn't exist. Ugh. Knew I should have eloped!
I’m trying to keep it wedding related but I keep finding myself
on pages like asos and new look. I can’t help it haha!
Oh dear! Thats not good, but dont worry! People will ask and
you can tell them the time, and people can google the hotel number. Everyone
has done something silly hehe!
I've got quite a lot done lately but still seem to be adding to the list! lol
The suit saga is still ongoing as oh's usher wants a month to loose some weight before they get his suit. I'm passed caring now!
Oh is struggling to find a ring because he wants d shape as it's more comfortable so there's not much choice, he wants titanium but I can't find many d shape titanium rings and I'm worried because he wouldn't be able to get a titanium ring altered.
Other than that we've got our engagement shoot in a couple of weeks which I'm nervous about because I hate having my photo taken. Currently trying to decide on what to wear for that and what to wear for my hen.
Getting there slowly!
AnnaMolly don't worry at least people are more likely to reply to you because they'll have to ask you the time lol We ended up not putting enough postage on a few of our invitesd so people had to pay £1 to go and get them, oops!
I cant believe thats still going on. Why doesn’t he just
cave and pay for his suit? Its not like he has a lot of time now and what
happens if he doesn’t lose the weight. God I’m glad your passed the point of
caring because I would be if I was in your shoes.
Has your Oh thought about getting one made? I’m not sure
where to start with that but you could speak to jewellers and see if they know
where to start at with it.
What are you doing for your hen? I’m currently writing a
list of stuff for mine and need to check what I want to take with me as I’ll
need to start buying things I haven’t got yet.
Do you have any outfit ideas you want to wear on your hen do?
I’m sure you will be fine on your engagement shoot, dont
stress, be happy ?
He has now said he'll put a little towards it so that's something. Yeah he's not going to loose much in a month and to get a suit in a regular suit shop he'd still need to go down about 4 suit sizes in a month which isn't going to happen. We've said end of June and we're getting them, if the suit we've found isn't available by then he's just going to have to find his own.
We doing a spa weekend with afternoon tea and 3 course dinner in the evening. I want us to get dressed up a bit for the meal but nothing too over the top, I was thinking a maxi dress but I don't have a clue really lol. I'm more of a jeans and t-*** girl normally. Where are you going for your hen?
Thanks, it will be good practice for the day anyway ?
Well least you have finally given him a deadline! Just make sure
he doesn’t try and wiggle out of it to another deadline. He knows how stressed you guys are with
himself only being married last year and should be trying to make it as easy as
possible!
That sounds lovely! Depending on the weather a maxi dress
would be lovely, maybe a little bolero in case it gets cold. I know what you
mean I’m more of denim short and t-shirt girl myself. Just make sure your comfortable!
That’s the main thing!
I’m off to Newquay for a festival in the first weekend of
august so not long to go Just hope the weather is ok!! Hehe!
Your right it will be good practise for when you get
married.
Yeah he wasn't too stressed with his wedding because they planned it in two months and did the bare minimum plus made us pay for all our food and drink and put in the invite on the first page about gifts! lol
Ooh I love festivals and Newquay, sounds like fun ?
Afternoon everyone... Apologies for falling a bit behind, I had the most awful few days last week and ended up getting sent home from Friday as I was having a total meltdown. Too much bad stuff happened all at once and I totally lost it ?
Anyways, here's my attempt at catching up
AlmostMrsS - Love the dressing gowns, absolute bargain! We don't have a Quality Save near were I live which is a shame as I would've definitely bought these! That was nice of your mum to get yours for you It's excellent that you got your dream cake topper so cheaply, sometimes eBay really is the answer. How's the DIY going?
AnnaMolly - Just read about your invites, try not to worry I'm sure everyone understands that these things happen! As for the telephone numbers people can just Google the hotels and find the numbers that way. Chin up chuck it'll all be okay on the day
bliss balloons - Sorry to hear the suit saga is still ongoing, at least he's said he'll pay a bit towards it now. Hopefully something will turn up when they go shopping at the end of June. Have you tried looking at Smooch for your OH's wedding ring? I know they had a huge selection when we picked my OH's, I think most of them were palladium but they did have some titanium ones. Hope your engagement shoot goes well, and your hen do sounds lovely
Cat D - I honestly hadn't thought of getting a wedding umbrella, but I will be getting one now!
HollyO92 - Hi and welcome That's great that you got a excellent deal from your dream venue, and it sounds like you've got quite a bit already. Your theme sounds lovely, like the idea of lots of candles. Sometimes you can't go wrong with a sample dress, my dress is a sample and I saved over £400!
Lui - Those letters are an absolute bargain, I might have to get some myself now! Love the idea of wrapping fairy lights around them, that'll look so cute Thanks for reminding me to add confetti to my list of things to sort... Your bathroom boxes look really nice btw Ooh what did you get your OH for his present?
Rebeccafcr - Your veil is beautiful
tookmytime - Your dress lady sounds amazing, I'm sure you'll love your dress when it's finished. Can't wait to see a flash...
OH LMP I really hope your ok!! Here’s some super strange weird
big internet hugs for you!! Chin up my lovely! Everything will become ok and there’s
always light at the end of the tunnel. I hope OH is looking after you!! If you
need to vent about anything lovely I am here, you can always message me if you
want to shout! That’s what being an Octoberian (still love that term) is all
about! ?
Definitely feel free to steal the letters. I’ll post a flash
of them so you can get an idea of size ect if you want to wait before buying
them.
I am the ultimate reminder. It’s so expensive but I want it,
been seeing some lovely confetti shots and really want one!
Thanks, they are just plain boxes from card factory. I did
have some boxes that I had plans to change and bling up but I really couldn’t be
bothered with everything I have to do.
OH wanted a watch (Nixon sentry, leather straps). So found
it with a discount and brought it! Very happy that, that is now sorted¬
Thank you for the super strange weird Internet hugs Lui, much appreciated! It just all got a bit much on Friday as my grandad's treatment isn't going as well the doctors had hoped and it was 4 months since my Gan-Gan had passed away, 3 months since my cat Gizmo passed away, 3 weeks since my other cat Nala joined him, then Thursday my beloved dog had to be put to sleep and we discovered OH's grandpa has bone cancer ? So quite a bit to deal with in a short space of time really
Love being an Octoberian though, reading all the posts and seeing pretty flashes does cheer me up
Ooh I'll wait till you post a flash and then I shall steal *evil laugh*I definitely want a confetti shot as well, their so pretty! I'm probably going to get mine from Shropshire confetti, thankfully it's in the budget. I think the stripy boxes look good ... I still haven't bought baskets or stuff to put in mine yet. Must pull my finger out this weekend... Yay for finding your OH's present discounted, always good!
