    Hi Ladies,

I haven't been on here in ages. Sounds like you are all on target with the planning Smiley smile.

I have just had our videographer cancel because he has been asked to be best man at a wedding, they have no back up as they are working or on holiday, i feel so upset, on top of that the same company are doing our photos (they can still do that part) but i'm so paranoid now something will go wrong and they will cancel nearer the time. I don't know what to do because everyone we like now is way over our budget.

I have found one company that are within budget, however they have no reviews anywhere and ask for a 50% deposit to secure the booking, they only call you a week before the wedding to confirm details, is this similar to what any of you have experienced or would you stay away?

    I'm so stressed out!

If any of you know a videographer that covers essex, i'd really appreciate the recommendations xxx

Haha Yea a ramble thread in the OT section may be a good idea! But I like that fact we ramble here and then the other ladies join in!

    Yesssssssssssssssss. Shopping here we come!

I know i probably wont but I’l be so scared that I may not want to move, not about getting married, more like you said walking down the aisle and falling over and slamming my face off the floor. I’m so worried my dress will be too long! Ha!

I had a quick look on pintrest and there are some cool things in there I may want to add in. Something about stopping e from becoming a crazy cat lady. I liked that, thought it was very fitting. I need to work on it soon as I don’t have much time no matter what I think hahah!

I could try pizza on a treadmill; the gym may not be happy haha! If i try one with no toppings but cheese thats fine right? Todays my bad weekend, got friends over so have a bottle of processco for us all, then going for afternoon tea tomorrow and then after that i’m going to a smoke house for dinner. I’m just thinking all the meat will be protein hahaha!

I bloomin love Cadburys world. Me and my MOH went there a few years ago and it was amazing! I want to go and get the broken ends bag because its just random broken up chocolate. I think theres a groupon at the moment for a hotel and a day at Cadbury world for £99.

I would use leggings but they always roll once I cut them, how do you stop that from happening? Yea i got the tights from primark, my friend told me about them, i was so excited!! I was like I dont have to buy any more pro glide! (that stuff works but is not what you want to be trying to put on your thighs in a wedding dress hahaha).

I’m sure we can trick them, we have our womanly ways heheh!

Hope you had a lovely evening!

FutureMr’sR – Oh no that’s terrible news!! Sadly I don’t live anywhere near Essex to know anyone. My persons coming up from Brighton, but they are really expensive and we only have a MASSIVE discount due to them being OH best friend.

Have you tried the hitched listing section? I hope you find someone!

    Hi Future Mr's R.
Sorry to hear your videographer has had to cancel, that's awful Smiley sad
I'm afraid I can't help with recommendations and as I hadn't booked a videographer I don't really know what is classed as normal =/

    Hopefully someone can help

    Morning lovely,

My evening was great thank you, I had my first ever fake tan and I L-O-V-E it!! I haven't gone orange at all, the only slight problem is on my left arm where it hasn't quite blended right and there's a clear difference between the tan and the underside of my arm ... but apparently that'll fade in a day or two.

I seriously wouldn't try pizza on a treadmill :p Maybe run to the shop to the buy the pizza instead?
Ooh your weekend sounds lush ... have a glass of fizz for me!

With the leggings I always cut them and then hem them to turn them into proper shorts, they'll don't roll up that way. I've never used pro glide, I was going to try those Bandelettes people have been talking about but I don't get on with stockings so I imagine they'd be no good.

    We are so going!!

Glad you had a lovely evening! Ohhhhhh was this the fake tan you were thinking of having before your make up trial? Is the second make up trial this weekend?

I’ve never had one so can’t say if its normal, I believe if you may recall i said i was as white as Casper haha! Still true!

Hahah good plan, run to the shop far away and back to get pizza, so the pizza is worth it! Thanks lovely! What are you doing with yours! I shall deffo have a glass of fizz for you seeing as the next item won’t be until August hahah!

Yknow i never really thought of that tbh! Maybe i should try it! Pro glide is really good as its what I use when I run as well. It sinks into the skin and makes a barrier, kind of like deodorant but it works really well. I was the same with the bandelettes, stocks always roll up so I prefer pro glid or tights, mainly tights because I always end up missing a spot when I shave my legs and I end up feeling it with pro glide and it annoys me hahah!

The deals finished now Booooooo, but it was:

    https://www.livingsocial.com/deals/1464558-family-getaway-with-cadbury-world-tickets?cvosrc=email.blast-gb.digest_citywideuk&utm_campaign=digest_citywideuk&utm_medium=email&utm_source=blast

Although Cadbury world itself has a 30% discount on tickets until the end of the year! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

    Hiya,

Yeah I had a Fake Bake rub on tan done last night, and having my false eyelashes done tonight (they last 2 weeks, perfect for holiday!). Second make-up trial is tomorrow, I'm hoping that because I'll have the tan and my falsies I be able to see the overall 'look'. Last time I just felt a bit odd, like something wasn't quite right...

I'd recommend the tan I had though, I normally look like Casper too! Today is the first day I've ever looked tanned, it's gone a lovely light bronze-y colour. Definitely not orange or OTT ?

Thank you for having a glass of fizz for me, I'll need it after tonight. I've got to finish the prep for my friends party tonight, including hanging fairy lights all round the garden...
But it'll be worth it in the end ???

Honestly home made legging shorts are the best, costs a couple of quid to buy the leggings and you can have them as long or short as you like. I've made several pairs!
Pro glide sounds good though, maybe I'll try that ... although legging shorts are good if your wearing a dress as any Marilyn moments aren't quite so embarrassing ?

Ok it's settled, we're going to Cadbury's World!!

Ohhhh have you ever had false lashes yourself? I’ve tried to do them but never been able to and kinda want to try again. I’ve tried with tweezers, hands, the pokey stick that came with it, nothing worked lol! ?

Hmmm... maybe I should try the tan stuff you speak of!! Hmmmmmmm!! ?

Oh I bet your garden will look lovely!! Really love fairy lights! Proper fairy lights addict hahaha! Take a photo of how it comes out in the end! Pleaaaaaaaase

Pro gilde is expensive but it worked for me! I may buy some cheap leggings and some wonderweb so I dont have to hem them by sowing as I’m pretty terrible at that! (see the theme here of me being pants!) ?

Oh god I always have Marilyn moments lol!

YESSSSSS TO CADBURY WORLD! This will have ot be after the wedding though mainly due to no weekends hahahahaha! ?

Also I wanted to ask you something, cause we are awesome!! I was thinking of getting you and OH a wedding card, would that be ok? Its cool if you say no cause like addresses and what not! But yea!!

Only 2 ½ hours left of my day and its dragging!!! ?

I have tried falsies myself, and I got on ok with them. The ones I'm having tonight are like semi-permanent ones, they just drop out once the glue dissolves but they look F-A-B! Definitely prefer paying someone to apply them for me rather than poking myself in the eye like I did once before ?

I would honestly recommend it, I'm totally in love with it and can only imagine how not ill I'll look in my dress now ?
I purposely wore a white top to work so I could show it off!

I'll definitely flash a photo of the garden when I get back from my holibobs, I'm so proud of it even though it's still a tip!

Ooh yes gotta love wonderweb, that's what I meant when I said I'd hemmed the shorts. Although I can sew but I chose not to ?
Marilyn moments are a common occurrence for me to, maybe I should weight my hems like royalty do haha!

Deal, Cadbury World trip once we're OM's ?

Aw I would love to have a wedding card from you and Mr Lui, that's so sweet ❤️
If you want to ping me an email I'll give my address, and then I'll nab yours as well

    I have 1 hour and 40 minutes left ... C'MON WEEKEND!!

You poked yourself in the eye? I want to say how but actually thinking about it, I could easily do that! I may try it one day when I have some spare cash (which is never haha) I’d only have the top ones as even putting mascara on my bottom lashes annoys my contacts. Blasted things.

Does it rub off much? I went to my friend yesterday and she had a fake tan and was being super careful around her baby, in case she got it on her daughter, was pretty funny haha!

Can’t believe you’re on holiday next week, who am i going to tell my stupid stories and vent too?! Haha! Although I do hope you have a lot of fun. Are you in a caravan or little apartment?

My mum wears by wonderweb! Should probably invest in some.

Hahah get those tiny veil weights for your clothes hahah!

Awesome! Want me to send it to your work address as i know messages on here don’t work? I’ll actually use my real email address now haha!

My breaks in 20 mins....come on break, then I have 45 mins once ive had that! Counting down so hard right now! haha

Remember when I said I have rubbish depth perception? Not wise to try and put on false eyelashes with tweezers ?
I haven't found that it rubs off, didn't come off on my bed sheets which I was worried about!

I'll try to take a few pictures of my make-up trial (and pretty fairy lit garden) tomorrow, and I'll hopefully be able to flash a few pictures on Sunday ... that'll just have to keep you going till I come back ?
Write down all your stories and vents and I'll read them when I come back, honest! We've just got a little caravan which will be hilarious as my OH is 6 foot 5...

Definitely invest in wonderweb, haven't thought of veil weights what a good idea ?

Yes please my work email is best

It's nearly 4pm, we can do this!!

Hahaha yes i forgot, god knows how i forgot about that, blooming useless me.

That’s good! I may look into it; see how I look for once with a glow! Who knows i may like it!

Why thank you lovely1 you will keep my needs for a flash at bay (that sounds wrong!)

Oh your poor OH, he’s going to have to crawl around the caravan! Hahah!

Hopefully nothing mental happens but i’m hoping my name arrives so I can update that and let you guys know as I know you all want to order some too!

I’ve heard about them but wasn’t planning on using them, thought that wind may make for some epic photos, who knows, but I may try them on clothes now! Interesting....!

Right so you know how I created a throw away email, well I can’t get into it so I’m just going to leave my email here, then once you’ve seen it let me know and I’ll remove it from the site hahaha! My brain canot function today.

25 mins for you!!! Not long!!

    That does sound wrong!!

He managed last year ... just! His feet were hanging off the bed and out the bedroom door. It was hilarious ?

Ooh yes you MUST flash your name, I'm excited for that...

I doubt I'll use veil weights for my actual veil but it might be useful for skirt hems ... hm ...

Email seen, email sent. Ta very much Smiley smile

Wow. It has literally taken me an hour and a half of reading to catch up with this thread! You girls have been busy!

Things are great here. Just got back from my wonderful holiday in Portugal. The only stressful bit was when MSN locked me out of my email account because it was suspicious that I was in Portugal -_- then they suggested I should just make a new account. Was stressing so much about all the wedding emails, but it's all sorted now Smiley laugh

Before I went on holiday, I got offered 2 jobs!!!! I picked my favourite one, and I start tomorrow. No more stupid night shifts for me Smiley laugh

I've done a few bits too. I've made the coat hangers and bridal party wineglasses, bought chocolates for the tables, made stationery (table names, reserved signs, bathroom basket signs, sparkler tags and chocolate fountain sign) and ordered my veil and tiara!

We had our menu and wine tasting on Friday, and it was fabulous! It was so much fun, and the food was so good.

I'd also like a little advice regarding a family issue. We invited my aunt (A) , her husband and their daughter to the full day (they live about 1 hour 15mins from where we are getting married, but my other aunt (B) who lives locally was putting them up). In January, they told me they were coming (obviously an RSVP). About 2 weeks ago, she called me to say that they wouldn't be coming as she cannot get the day off of work (I get married on a Sunday). I was upset, but told A she'd be missed. I told B about it, and she said that she'd spoken to A in March, and then A told her that she wouldn't be coming because they'd have to spend about £50 in petrol and it would cost too much. B didn't tell me because she said it was A's place. I also told my sister, and she said she'd also spoken to A in March. A had told her that they wouldn't be coming because they'd have to drive back Sunday night for work the next day, and it would be unfair as A's husband would have to drive, so he couldn't have a drink (which he shouldn't do because of health reasons)! I understand why they didn't tell me (as it isn't their place). But, knowing her, the 2 latter reasons are most likely the real ones, which really upsets me. Also, the fact that she didn't tell me for ages is out of order too, as there's other people we didn't invite because they said they were coming.

Should I say anything to her about this?

I'm glad everyone has had good holidays/is going somewhere nice Smiley smile it'll be our time soon!

    Hi Everyone

I have done absolutely nothing wedding related this weekend! Apart from receiving a paper cutter and guillotine ready for the the prep with the rest of our stationery of menus and order of service(which the reverend has to check first).

    On the subject of OOS, I promised I would flash it so here goes;

This is pretty much my final draft of it, I saw some spelling mistakes (I wrote Bridge and Groom!) which I will have someone check before I send a copy to the reverend. I also have to check with the organist to ensure he/she can play the hymns we picked.

Just also noticed the pack of Kleenex tissues in one of the photos; it is the hay fever season now and I have packs everywhere ready to use as and when they I need them. That is why I am an October bride, hopefully the pollen levels are a lot lower then.

in the next week, I hope to have the videographer booked.

With regards to aunt A, don't say anything! It will be more trouble than it's worth. Think about it as more money in your pocket to spend on something else for the wedding(in my case-more champagne for everyone). It is a pity though that she knew the whole time that she would not making it but she did in the end so you will have to just leave it be and try to focus on enjoying the rest of your wedding planning.

I am in the position in that I am hoping for some RSVPs of people who can't make it so that we can invite other people instead.

LMP- while you are all having problems of trying to look tanned, I am trying to stay out of the sun so that I don't turn too dark, last time we had test shots with our photographer, poor DH did look like Casper next to me, I looked a lovely chocolate colour which probably made DH look more glaringly pale. Fake tan for him and I stay out of the sun till the wedding.

TheFutureMrsKay – Congratulations on the new job lovely! Hope everything goes well with your first day! Sounds like everything is coming along well which is awesome! Have you got much more to put together?

Regarding your Aunt thing, it is better to go with what Aunty A said and just don’t say anything, sadly you will open a massive can of worms if you do decide to say something and it will be more stress that you just don’t need right about now. It’s a shame they can’t tell you the truth though.

Happy polly – Your OOS look lovely!! Such lovely stationary! Did you guys create it yourself?

    How was everyones weekend?

Lui- Thank you Smiley smile the first day there was overwhelming, but really good.

I sort of already knew that I shouldn't do anything with regards to the pain in the bum aunt; it was just nice to sort of rant a little.

I don't think I have that much left to sort, but every time I think about it, the list seems huge!

The orders of service are only half done, so I have to finish those. I have to write my vows and my speech, and fill in the really long form that our registrar wants. Have to decide on décor (final touches on candelabra centrepieces and material of chair sashes/what style bow) and also decide on sandwiches for afternoon tea canapés and also decide on our evening buffet. I haven't even thought about dress fittings yet, and it's coming around so fast that I need to. I still need to have hair and MUA trials. I also have a few other little bits of stationary to make (like little tags with wifi information and the table plan), but they can't be done yet. We are also thinking of doing a fairly different first dance, which will require us to practice a lot! I know that other things will pop up though! Other than that, just paying stuff off Smiley sad I miss money.

Do you have much left to do?

Glad you had a lovely first day!! ?

Its always good to get things off your chest and that’s what us ladies are here for ?

I think the list will never become small, there’s always things you can add to it. Like LMP said a few pages back, we need to stop making lists haha!

I miss money too hehe! ?

I don’t think I have much left, I need to finish off the following:

    Seating plan

    Centre pieces

    Name places

Buy the shoes for the flower girls

Paint the card box and mr and mrs sign

    Write our vows

    Write some music requests

Make the favours – (this will be the weekend before the wedding).

I have my dress fitting at the end of August and just trying what work out what to do with my nails as they are naturally long but I want a nice design on them.

Oh my god! Nails! How did I not think of those!?

Now I have something new to decide, haha. I'm in a similar boat to you; I have really nice (strong and long) nails, so I don't want to ruin them with acrylics, but all the wedding designs that I see about seem to be false nails. Maybe I'll search for some gel inspo.

The invites are really lovely; the theme is really coming together Smiley laugh

    Drink some more

    Dance

It's hard, everything I have checked and can see everything is acrylic.

i think it's one of them where you need to speak to a nail technician!

Hi all, This board whizzes! So, gone back over the last few days to catch up with you all!

I now have 3 date twins! Mrswatkinstobe, Happy Polly and Leighb3! Yaay! 10th October rocks! :-D

Hi Vicki 2015 - We aren’t using a gift list with a shop, but doing an Amazon list. The good thing about this is that you can pull items from other shops onto it too. The downside is that people like your Gran will probably need a list printing off and someone helping her tick it off the list. I personally don’t like the big shop lists as I once bought late off a list and it was all the odds and ends left. Buying a toilet roll holder, a baking tray and I think it was napkin rings didn’t feel very good to me even though that’s what they wanted! They are practical I have to admit (I would have struggled to buy this particular couple a gift otherwise)

Littlemisspanda - Can’t believe you broke your wrist! Oh no! Fingers crossed no more accidents happen before the wedding! Please take care of yourself!

Bliss balloons - Spotted you ordered a pocket watch for your partner! Can I ask where from/have a flash please? I am looking for something similar myself

Lui - Liking the table numbers – I’d not thought of self-standing ones! On the Vows side of things I would first write down a list of things you love about your partner and the things you want to be able to give him in the future (support, care, honesty etc). Just write down anything you can think of for 10 minutes – have a brainstorming session! From there, look at some ideas on the web… look at formats/what you do/don’t like. I think you should then start to see patterns emerging for you. Brainstorming is great – it gives you the big and small ideas and when everything is in front of you, you can make logical choices on what to include/not include. (You can tell I’m in work mode! Lol!) You mention Cadbury world – it is local to me! (Well, half hour away) Don’t go for the deals – worth booking online and finding a hotel yourself. If anyone wants to know other things to do in the area just let me know.

Future Mr’s R - Sorry to hear your videographer has bailed on you – I would expect them to pay for a replacement if you are out of pocket though (if all contracts signed/deposits paid). I have to admit I would be paranoid using them to for photos if they have no backup in place.  My Tog has one person working with him and 5-6 other togs he would call upon in an emergency to ensure service on my big day. I don’t know of anything for you in Essex but my gut would be if you want to meet up/see examples, do so. If they don’t want to, then they can’t want your money! You are paying for a service and any decent supplier would make time for you if you were nervy. Fingers crossed for you

ThefutureMrsKay - Congratulations on your job offers! Regarding your Aunt, I don’t think you should do much – she was probably trying to be polite to you and not hurt your feelings where she was honest with her sisters. I don’t think it was done in a mean way? I think so few (including me before doing this!) realise the impact they have on wedding preparations!

Whats new with me? Well still lots to do… had a bit of a break last few weeks and it started taking off again last week!

Favours arrived yesterday (little jars of strawberry and champagne jam with a personalized message on the label.

We now have the grooms suit and the ties/hankies for the men. We are asking the BM and ushers to be in grey but use their own suit. Uniformity isn’t important to me but people being comfy is

My shoes and the grooms waistcoat have arrived at BHS – awaiting collection.

    Cake stands are awaiting delivery.

Invites sent out last week! Had 3 groups come back immediately and confirm…. Then nothing! Is this normal? People received their invites on Saturday – when do people think I would start getting responses? Didn’t think I’d be so nervous! (A couple of invites still to send – partner got an ear bashing last night and he chased his outstanding addresses! :-D )

To do in the next week:

Hair/MU early trial Saturday to see if I like false lashes/can work with her before booking (never had falsies!!!)

Go back to the bridal shop on Monday to try and find a jacket/shawl to work with my dress after the bolero I wanted wasn’t available in my size – keep your fingers crossed!

Order of Service – part done but still a few things to sort

We also FINALLY have a best man! It isn’t who my partner originally wanted sadly – after 3 months he has come back with an email stating he doesn’t know if he will be at work on the Saturday so can’t commit. No phone calls and just 2 emails in that time? He works for the council!!! Hmmm….... started being brutally honest with my partner and told him like it is. Poor man was holding onto false hope in his best and oldest friend would have been bothered. Not sure if we are going to send him an evening invite or not as it is too painful for OH

On the good side choice number 2 (and a more open, honest and current friend imho) is in place

This means our bridal party is finally complete (just waiting on one usher to confirm!) Woohoo!

    Hi Ladies,

This week has been crazy so far. We are currently discussing recruitment for Christmas and it’s just been in and out of meetings all day. Then I’ve been trying to get some spare time but it’s just not happening.

Anyways trying to get back to it all now.

TheFutureMrsKay – I’ve debating now weather for once to have acrylics a) for the art and b) my nails have a habit of breaking when I need them to look nice and pretty. I may get them done on the Thursday before the wedding. However I’m really not sure. Will speak to my friend who is a nail technician and see what she says!

Misslynx - Major post but it was nice to catch up and read what you’ve been doing! Nice to hear that your getting on with things well. The jam sounds amazing and kind of makes me want Jam on toast now!

I think if you end up with a mixture of greys that will be really nice. I’ve seen a few weddings like that recently and the whole different shades on the men is really nice. I guess it’s just the opposite of when you get the same dress but in different colours for bridesmaids.

You should flash the shoes and the cake stand when they arrive with you!!

We have quite a few replies and then nothing, then all of a sudden loads of replies now we are back to nothing. It does go up and down, however some people who i know wouldn’t response because they are forgetful I’ve just asked them outright. The deadline is in 5 weeks so will start chasing after that. Just a quick email will do. I am going to be ruthless with it i think as we have to give numbers by September and don’t want to still be chasing around then.

Let us all know how your make up and lashes go! Also your bolero fitting!

Glad your BM issue is sorted. It’s a shame his BF couldn’t pull his finger out and be there for him when he really wanted him there!!

I think I’m going to brain storm like you mentioned to start on my vows. I really need to get this completed as time is running away with me. Although OH is the same so least I’m not the only one who may be doing it last minute (although really don’t want to.)

I’ve asked my arty friend to paint my centre pieces. I’ve tried and I just couldn’t do it any justice and she is way better. She doesn’t want any money so I’m going to pay her in a thank you card, processco and flowers with chocolates. It’s the only way I know she will accept anything from me. Dropping them off on Sunday and as long as they are ready by start of October I’ll be happy.

I’m keeping my tester one back so I can start building up the flowers around it. Apart from that its just the little thing I’ll complete once the RSPV’s are in.

Hen do is getting sorted. We have the drivers, we have what we need to take and I almost have all the money. Just now have to get down there and party. Also the tickets need to turn up. That’s only 7 weeks away which I’m excited for!! Going to test the tent on the 11th so need to get that from my parents!!

Exciting times ahead! Hope everyone else is ok!!

We are just to talkative for our own good Stephied hehe!

You still not got your invites? EEP, when will you have them ready by? Does your friend know? Were you still planning on having a short RSPV date?

Least that way you don’t have to join the great RSPV wait hahaha

Ha ha! No, honestly, I only really have time to pop on on my lunch break and by the time I get back around here the convo has moved on about 20 times!

She said definitely by end of this week, but then when I saw her on the train this morning she was telling me all her weekend plans to redecorate the kitchen....might have to be a bit firm and put my foot down. It's because they are doing them as a gift (we're not paying anything) that I feel bad for chasing!

I bet you have all got yours back by now haven't you ha ha?
