October 2015 brides....

It's been a busy day for all then?!

Confetti is all sorted and bagged up, it looks great and we found a lovely basket to put it in. I've done the post box now which also looks lovely. I started prepping the favours for the children tonight. We are about to pay the photographer too. We have an appointment to meet the registrar next Wednesday and I bought two very cute cake toppers on Sunday. My hen and dress fitting are on Saturday so it's all go.

My body is going against me at the moment, two of my nails having split right at the bottom, I am getting spots that leave scars on my left hand (great!) and my face (even better). I bruised my arm on a chair at work today (the dress is strapless) and I it is going to be my time of the month on the wedding day

I have two questions should I also be buying a duvet cover for my dress? Isn't s wedding dress bag/cover any good? Also what's the box numbering thing for the venue? Should I be doing that?

Lui - I love your dress, it's just lovely.

Rebeccafcr - OMG you have your dress in your home? I don't think I'll be able to contain myself when that day comes!

Hi all,

Looks like everyone has been really busy since I was last here.

Can't believe how quickly time is flying now. Not long at all now until the first of our group are heading down the aisle - already looking forward to all the wedding reports and our OM group :-)

Wedding preparation is going well here. Not too much left to do now.

Collected my wedding dress on Wednesday - the seamstress has done a cracking job on the alterations - love it :-)

Bridesmaid dresses are also ready.

Wedding jewellery sorted out

Meeting the registrar tomorrow to finalise vows etc.

Due to pay the balance to the photographer on Wednesday

Still need to:

Finish putting the favours together

Print the table plans and table names

Collect cake (collecting cutting slices from M&S on Thursday 8th, and main cake on Friday 9th)

Collect OH's suit (should be in early next week.)

Create CDs of music to play during the wedding breakfast.

Buy a necklace for the flower girl.

Aside from wedding stuff, I have been busy volunteering at the Rugby World Cup and at the weekend we went down to Plymouth to watch OH's son in his passing out parade from basic training in the Navy - very proud day for all of us. I've attached a piccy of me in my volunteering outfit and of future step-son's division passing out :-)

LittleMissPanda - It's only 4 sleeps will our wedding!!!I am just felling incredibly excited!!! I am so happy you have managed to sort your venue out and well done you for getting money knocked off. Yes I managed to pick up the dress! What with the hoop and the dress it took up the entire space in my car! I drive an Audi TT so i have limited boot space and backseat space! I have to pick the suits up on Thursday so I am hoping they all fit in ok!! I managed to corner the vicar (lol) however he still needs to come back to us as he is waiting for an update from someone higher up within the church. Basically i don't want my fathers name on the wedding certificate (i haven't seen him for 15 years) So i am trying to have either my mother on it, or no-one on it as I don't think mothers are allowed on it. Hopefully he will have an answer when we see him for our wedding rehearsal on Thursday evening.

Stephied9384 - I am drinking water like a mad women and literally living off vegetables fruit and fish!! I made some muffins for my OH to take into work today (Raspberry with White Chocolate and Blueberry ones) and i couldn't eat any of them last night because I am so worried about my skin! Normally id be the first to wolf down a muffin!!! I am getting very excited now! Only today and tomorrow left at work!!! Where is your OH going on his stag do?! I cant believe people are dropping out this close to the wedding. We had one yesterday and had to get the big seating plan reprinted. Thankfully as we made it ourselves it was an easyish thing to amend!

Bridgetjonesnolonger - For the weather I am using my android phone weather app which uses Accuweather which gives you options for hourly on the day, 3 day outlook and extended outlook for 3 weeks. It seems to have improved a little from 65% chance fo rain to 40%. We can only hope!

LMP and Sparkly bear - Only a few nights left. Exciting!

I'm not buying a duvet cover for my dress as I have a garment bag that it came in, my seamstress told me that's good enough.
The only reason I've numbered the boxes for my venue is so that I don't forget any! They won't all fit in my mum's car, so she's taking boxes 1-4, my sister is taking boxes 5-6 etc etc.

hallowedding - It really is a stunning dress, I can't wait to see a flash of your big day!

Happy Polly - I've been looking at 4 different forecasts, and just believing the one I like best!

I've only just realised that I've opted to have my step-dad named on my marriage certificate, and OH is taking my step-dads name (I changed mine when I was 16).
But since all that was decided my real dad and I have managed to work on rebuilding our relationship and he's going to be a witness. Should I warn him in advance that my step-dads name is there and not his??

LMP – OH did have a good time. He was tired when he got home but happy. He also brought me back some cheesy bugles (YEY!) and some gin! Love the gin!

My mini hen do was good, nice and relaxed.

Nice to hear that you and your dad are working on things. Just to make sure nothing rocks the boat maybe it’s worth letting him know so he doesn’t get taken a back on the day, I’m sure he won’t mind at all but right now anything to stop hassle may be good.

BJNL – Sounds like you’ve got everything under wraps my lovely! My wedding dress shop told me to bring a double duvet for the dress as it will also be bagged up as well. I think it’s just extra protection.

Mrswatkinstobe – eek not long now lovely! Your almost sorted by the sound of it which is awesome. You look so happy volunteering. YEY! Also congrats on your OH son on his passing out ceremony.

So today we had one of my close friends drop out, really annoyed me, I had a bit of a rant with my bridesmaid as this person has been flakey throughout and it just got annoying, mainly because I wouldn’t have minded a week ago because I could have taken the numbers down and not paid for food for them. It’s also not one of those things where it cropped up, what they are doing instead they knew they would be doing even a few weeks ago just decided to tell me know. OH is really annoyed because they keep letting me know.

I’ve just taken my time and replied nicely as at the end of the day there is a child involved that needs to see their dad. So can’t really be angry at that. It’s just bad timing and I think that’s really what I’m annoyed about.

Also somehow managed to be roped into a advert for work! Seriously what’s that about, luckily my skin is starting to clear up so shouldn’t be too bad.

Lui and sparkly bear I would be so cross if people dropped out so close to the day. OH has family in Sunderland who have all dropped out in the last couple of weeks. They have all put it down to illness or travelling long distance but I think it's more to do with a cousin in Sunderland booking her 40th birthday party for the same date.

I've never heard of the duvet thing for dresses! I'm worried mine will be really creased, it's sort of been folded and I was told to hang it for a week before wearing

what did everyone do/ what are you doing for your hen do? I'm getting excited about mine... we're off to London to see mamma Mia, then we're having a meal a night out. There are 18 of us and I'm pretty much the only one who doesn't know what they're wearing! Also, I know they've got a whatsapp group going and are planning some surprises so I'm looking forward to it!

Hallowedding - It's just people. I have learnt throughout this experience who my friends really are. It's seriously strange. I don't mind people dropping out as I know that my wedding isn't as important to them as it is to me, however, it annoys me that people plan it and tell you last minute, even when they have known for a while.

I think you should be fine, you may want to steam it to get any creases out. Maybe place it in a bathroom and run a hot shower. If it's not being transported anywhere you may not need a duvet. It's just for protection and to carry it places and mine only comes with a plastic cover, some may do proper dress bags so wouldn't need it.

You hen sounds awesome. I hope you have a great time lovely. My hen was at a music festival back in August. Had loads of fun and perfect weather. Glad I did it quite far from the wedding as this means I can focus on the last bits during the month now.

Hello all! I've sort of been avoiding hitched the few days as I'm having freak outs about how close the wedding is and how much we have to do ?

I know I'm behind the times but Hallowedding, your dress is gorgeous. Very unique but still bridal.

I know the feeling with flakey guests. I'm sort of laid back about the guest thing but some people just take the piss, it's ridiculous. They just do whatever the hell they want and don't even bother to tell us ?

On the positive side I had my not-a-hen do which was low key and involved all my favourite things (spa, cake, wine and cheese?). I've also got my engagement pics back and there are some pictures that I don't look stupid, so yay!

Meanwhile the to do list keeps on growing...

How are you all on this lovely and sunny Wednesday afternoon?!

Today is my last day at work; and I am tremendously excited! I had some reports to get completed this morning and that was stressing me a little, but thankfully I have managed to sort them all!

I cannot believe that it is 3 days until LittleMissPanda and I have our weddings! When I think back to when I joined Hitched, it was a little over 2 years to my wedding and now we are almost at 2 days to go!

I am not sure if I will be on much over the next couple of days as I have various appointments to attend and things to pick up etc! But I will pop back briefly on Friday evening and have a read of my Good Luck thread!

We fly off on our Honeymoon on the Tuesday, and get back 2 weeks later on the Thursday. I will definitely come back and show you all some photographs!

I hope all the weddings that I miss whilst I am away go perfectly! I am sure you will all look amazing!

I have had such an amazing time being in this group, and really feel like we have a little community together!

This has probably already been suggested; but we definitely need to set up an October 2015 OM thread somewhere!!! We should definitely stay in contact! Do we maybe connect on FB too?!

Ah Lui it's such a shame when people let you down like that, and I agree it's seriously strange but you do learn who is there for you and who isn't.

Side note: me and OH decided to drop the evening people by 10 as people dropping out and what not and we have moved the money over to the day people so they can all have one drink on us. Lui, I feel your pain my love, we've had tons of drop outs, one or two genuine ones but others who clearly had no intention of coming and have let us down last minute. Some didn't even bother to tell us, it's such a shame as they must have some idea of what time and effort goes into these bloody things, not to mention money. Weddings are definitely a sure fire way to discover who is your real friend. Hugs lovely xx

Hey all,

Just managed to catch up again! I'm gutted that I may not be able to write full messages to everyone before Saturday but am literally just having dinner and then am straight onto the packing!

Things are still stressful here but I have managed to do pretty much all of my planning for the rest of the week so I can focus on moving.

Thanks all for the compliments on my table names etc - we love them and they came out better than we could have imagined!

I guess we have a couple of things sorted - had the final meeting with the TOG and sorted out ideas for when and where to have pics taken; collected info from the band and am sending off final ideas for repertoire for the evening; got some final timings for the day itself; I have got (well, will be collecting soon) my something old and something borrowed - the latter is a pretty hair piece (small) that my sister used for her wedding reception and the former is a suggestion from my sister, a picture of both sets of grandparents (now no longer with us) either on their wedding day or out with the rest of the family - these will be tucked into my garter! We have also got our canes back and they look awesome - for my OH and his BM - and we will also be ordering some sparklers so that we can create some cool shots with slow shutter speeds etc!
