Off-white dress panic...

Anonbride, 1 March, 2022 at 12:22 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 7

Been trying to take my mind of horrible FMIL and thinking about outfits - fun! - but now I've got myself in a bit of a mild panic haha

I've chosen my dress!! *happy dance* https://madilane.com/product/amelie/

The colour way I've gone for is "ivory/mocha" so it basically has a kind of gold underskirt with ivory lace. I love it, but I've just had a fear that it'll look dirty if FH is in a white shirt?

The idea is that the groom and other guys in the wedding will be in a tan linen suit - but possibly just the waistcoats and no jackets as its a beach wedding, so the shirt could be highly visible. Groom will be in a gold tie and other guys in a sea blue/pale turquoise tie (going for pale shades of sea greenish-blues all round rather than one specific colour).

Initially, I'd thought they'd all be in classic white shirts... but do you think this would make my dress look dirty in comparison? My other thought is putting them in pale blue shirts, which would be tonal to the colour scheme, but is that weird to not have a white shirt?

Or am I completely overthinking and should just let FH choose whichever? Smiley xd

I definitely don't think it would look dirty - I see why you're worried, but so many brides don't wear pure white and I've never noticed a single person's white shirt looking weird because of it.

It honestly sounds like your entire colour scheme is going to tone beautifully Smiley smile

It will be fine - the overlay is ivory which will match your OH shirt - my dress was all ivory and my husband's shirt was white, and looking at our photos, you can't tell any difference between the two 'whites'.

You’re so not overthinking, but your dress won’t look dirty at all. The ivory mocha with that gold underskirt is warm and rich, and it pairs beautifully with a white shirt. Pale blue shirts would work too. They’ll tie into the sea tones perfectly, and they aren’t weird for a beach wedding. Either way, your dress will shine. Just go with what feels cozier for the vibe.

Off-white dress panic usually kicks in when you realize, at the last minute, that your outfit might break an unspoken dress-code rule—especially at weddings or formal events. The fear is less about the color itself of yamaha jacket and more about how it might be perceived, since off-white, ivory, or cream can read as “too close to white” under certain lighting or in photos.
