Old Toys

17 August, 2012 at 22:44 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 51

This is going round FB at the moment (apologies if you've already seen it)

I had one, although my memories of it are from when it was passed down to my sister and then brother.

In later years, I also had a He-Man doll, Polly Pocket (the hairdressing salon, no less) and then sticker collections came along - I did WWF, Premier League and the Gladiators!

I had a slightly older cousin who used to pass things down to me so I also had one of those Martin robot things, where you put the different cards in and it teaches you things. Plus a My Little Pony stable which I loved.

One thing I never had though were the Sylvanian Family toys, much to my huge sadness - my BF had the whole lot including the camper van, which I was wildly jealous of.

I don't remember anything like this but I do remember sylvanian families. I had the boat!! I loved it. My brother had a house too. I had Barbies and a doll but I don't remember much else. I was more of a book girl than toys. I had one cuddly toy he was a beaver and I still have him on my bedside table. H is really attached to him too!!

    my faves were.....

Finders Keepers - a snail thing that had a shell you could lock and store all your "secrets" in. It was purple but can't find a flash!!

    Gloworm

    Popple

    Puffalump

i used to have a garbage pail kids sticker book:

I always wanted an A'la Carte Kitchen, and a doll house!!

Unfortunately, my dad wanted a boy and even though I wanted girly toys i never owned a my little pony/ Cindy or Barbie when i was little because my dad bought me trains and car mats and a Millennium Falcon... I did love my lego though!!

It wasn't till they divorced that I finally got a doll but i cut all her hair off and coloured in the stubble with felt tips!!

Jojo - my cousins had an entire room of their house full of Sylvanian Families! It was absolutely immense and my favourite thing about going round to their house.

I also loved Barbie, My Little Pony and Polly Pocket. I also had a Post Office that folded in to a little red suitcase which I loved, except my mum took the inkpad out so we didn't get ink everywhere which meant I couldn't use the stamps properly. I always wanted one of those dolls you could feed (Baby All Gone I think it was called) but I never got one.

    Keypers -

I had these, and popples. My Sister still has her very first Popple.

I mainly played with cars. Loved my colour-changing ones, used to make tracks in the dirt outside with my best friend, Dan.

I had a Lite brite too. Loved that.

I was mainly an outdoorsy kid, so had all these:

    Pedal-go (Mine was green)

    Skip it:

    Pogo Stick (Mine was red):

Pogo ball - Or Disc-O bopper as we called it. (Mine was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in pink and green!):

Stilts (Mine were red and yellow metal):

Oh and of course, the Mighty Commodore 64 -

And boxes and boxes of Lego. (I still have a box full!)

I had nearly all the toys in this thread at some point.. except the boys ones. I thought boys smelled. Baby talk was a great doll. She spoke american though which was weird. I loved her pink dungarees.

I literally had all of the above!

    I remember buying Sindys dream house with my birthday money, we had to go on the train to a Toyr R Us because at that time Portsmouth didn't have one! I also had Sindys Kitchen cafe;;

Polly Pockets are still around although much bigger, SD has them.

    Also, Paridiso lego?

My best Birthday present ever growing up:

You could press down something to make the garage door open and the car 'drive out'. Turning the tree by the front door made the dance floor rotate. And the swan in the ballroom lit up.I miss Polly Pocket.

I remember my friend had those cupcake doll things and they smelt soooo sickly sweet. Made me feel sick.

I had the fashion wheel, it was awesome!!

Never had Polly Pockets either, always had toy envy of anyone who had them!!

Was never allowed Mouse Trap either....man I was a deprived child ?

*smug face* I had a Mr frosty ? It was amazing!

I also had one of these which was weird

But that was when I was a bit older, when I was little I loved my barbies, I got a car for Christmas and didn't leave the house without it. I loved it so much! Also loved my sister (named Polly) Polly pocket, that picture of the old style ones brings back memories

My friend had the whole silvanian family collection and I was always so jealous. Never had an oven either :-(

I had one of these (the little one with red wheels) which I was a bit obsessed with, he was ancient!

Everyone had one of these for Christmas in the late 50's:-

    And one of these:-

And we all rode around on 3 wheeler bikes which I had when I was about 7 years old and I used to wrap my skipping rope around the handles and pretend it was my pony - sad I know but it was the nearest I would ever get to having a real pony!
