Online bridesmaid dresses

Justkeepswimming, 18 January, 2016 at 20:43 Posted on Planning 0 26

Have any of you bought your BM dresses online and were you pleased with the quality?

Has anyone had any experience with DESSY, Queenie bridesmaid or DressLongBridal on ETSY?

its a bit risky buying online as many seem to be made in China etc and I have heard mixed reviews. But the shops don't seem to have enough range and are really expensive.

This is the sort of thing I am looking for.....(pic to follow)

I've heard good things about dessy and dress long bridal another one on etsy is the dainty yard. I'm sure a couple of the ladies on here have ordered from the dainty yard and been very happy.

My bridesmaid dresses are from Dessy but I did not order them online. There were many stores in our area (Hampshire) that stocked them.

Ooh really? I'm Hampshire! Do you mind me asking how much they cost? And did they have the colours in stock that you wanted or did they order them in for you.

    thanks!

I am just about to order a dress from DressLongBridal on Etsy so I can let you know how I get on with them if you have a bit of time before you need to order?

I had a sample from them and it arrived really quickly, and is the perfect colour - the seller is really good at responding to questions as well xxx

I'm based in the US so have mostly been looking at US prices online. I've seen them on some really overpriced websites for $200+ and then others for $160-$190 for a full length gown and less for cocktail length.

My fiance's family and several bridesmaids are based in the UK so we went shopping there back in November. We ended up going to a store in Woking because my BM from London was able to meet us halfway but I do not recommend it. It was tiny and the staff was so unhelpful. My MIL and SIL went to Confetti & Lace in Farnham last week and they said it was much better.

Usually they will have one of every style they carry, each in a different colour, so you can at least see the colour and dress in person. You just have to imagine the dress you like in the colour you are choosing. Then they will take measurements of all the girls and order the dresses in the right sizes. If you know someone who is able to take measurements properly you can always do the measurements yourself and then shop around for prices online (after you see the dress in person in the shop of course). That's what we will be doing because my bridesmaids are spread out across two continents.

I ordered a bm dress from ever pretty on Amazon, it was only £25 plus postage (can be free postage with prime)- first impression it's very good quality and a lovely fit on the bridesmaid I got it for, so just need to order for the 2 others now and hope they like it too! Only issue it's a we bit crumpled but should be sorted by steaming it. My view is it's a dress they will wear one day and probably never again so can't justify spending huge amounts on it especially as I have to get 3.

I was about to reply in the July 16 thread but noticed you had made a thread about it.

I don't have any experience with the companies you've mentioned but just wanted to suggest high street shop websites. I got mine from Quiz Clothing in the end but there were quite a few on ASOS that I nearly ordered, which were pretty similar to your pictures. I've just had a look and there are quite a lot of dresses that look like they could be suitable - just change the 'type' to maxi and there's plenty to look at Smiley smile

I got mine from thedaintyard on etsy and was really pleased with the dresses - will try and dig out a photo if you're interested! They were more of the multiway style though x

Yes please I would love to see a photo if you've got one! I am also interested in the wrap multiway style dresses as well as those like the pics I showed. I really like the two birds ones but can't justify spending £200 each, especially when I have 4 BMs! DressLongBridal looks like a good cheaper alternative!

I would also ask around at a few shops to see what their prices are. One of my BMs is also getting married and she asked at the shop where she bought her dress and they told her they dress would cost $300-400. I was shocked because I would never choose a dress that expensive! So I did some research last night and found the dress my sister is thining of buying on two different bridal shop's websites. One is an online store that sells all the major bridesmaid dress brands, the other (cheaper) one is the store from Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta. They are from After Six, one of the Dessy brands. The exact same dress, same colour, at three massively different price points.

Will definitely keep you up to date with how I get on JustKeepSwimming, I'm really hoping it works out as like you say the TwoBirds ones are just ridiculously priced! I only have 2 bridesmaids but £500 on dresses no chance!! These will cost around £100 for both I think with delivery and budgeting for any custom charges!

Can also recommend, was going to go for 3 dresses from a local Chinese warehouse but 2 weeks before our boiler and water tank needed replacing (2k!) Anyway the dresses are surprisingly nice for the price. Two were 25 one was 39.3 dressses free p&p £89! Was very happy. They also come with padded boob bits so bra is optional.

I emailed a few DESSY stock listers, one of them got back to me today and said they are £200 each. That crosses them off the list! Smiley sad

Here you go: Really good quality and arrived sooner than expected - paid £45 per dress including postage. I'd definitely order a swatch before paying for dresses x

Thank you for the pic Mrslh2b, they look great! Am I right in thinking they can be worn different ways? And silly question but is it fairly easy to work out how to wear them different ways?! They look great and such a good price too. I've ordered my fabric swatches! I just hope they have the sort of colours I'm after.

Yep they can be worn in lots of different ways - we sort of stumbled across that style and everyone agreed it looked nice but they send you a youtube link which shows how to do all the different ways you can wear them! x

Hey JustKeepSwimming - hope you are ok?

Just wanted to update you on my dress from DressLongBridal and it is amazing, I'm beaming I love it so much!! The service has been amazing, it only took just over a week to get here! The seller also added extra length as my sister is quite tall and I worried it wouldn't be long enough. It's a heavy material so falls well, the colour is perfect and I honestly couldn't say anything negative about it! Just hope it fits my bridesmaid! Xxxxx

Hi Rach_217, thank you so much for getting back to me! Smiley smile

I'm so pleased your dress has arrived and your pleased with it, what colour did you go for?

I ordered fabric swatches from both thedaintyard and DressLongBridal on etsy in the end. Thedaintyard one arrived pretty promptly but didn't have any colours that grabbed me enough to buy them. Am still waiting on the DressLongBridal ones!

however, in the mean time I found some I really liked on ASOS, by Little Misstress. It was all a bit of a polava what with one of the BMs not liking strapless even though that's the style I wanted and then finding some with straps but them not being in stock in the right sizes. I thought buying my dress was hard! Anyway in the end I ordered 2 strapless and 2 with straps by the same make but 2 were from VERY. The good news is that the ones with straps arrived today YEY and they look great! One BM tried hers on today and it looks lovely. I'm so pleased!

a good day for BM dresses today for us both! Let's hope the rest of them fit!

    xxx

I really wanted the multi-way dresses everyone has got but I have 5 big bridesmaids and the postage was way to much, they didn't offer any discount either.

I got my bridesmaid dresses from Amazon in the end. Ever pretty and they are gorgeous. I picked them as its free delivery and returns. I ordered loads of styles in different sizes for my bridesmaids to try on to see what style they liked best and just returned them and was refunded straight away. I've just ordered 2 at the moment for £21.99 each as two of my bridesmaid's are extremely slim and won't be losing or gaining weight before june. However the other two are on diets at the moment so waiting to a month before to order. I would highly recommend ever pretty look a lot more expensive than the price and very flattering.
