oooh pretty!

Flump, 7 of August of 2009 at 19:14 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 43

But £10 a mug. Hmmmmm can I justify them?

Do we like Cornishware? I think I like it, even though I live in a 1960s box and not a fabulous countryside cottage with a range cooker ?

What are the state of your other mugs? If like me you don't have any matching mugs & instead have old battered ones that saw you through university 17 years ago (Fozzy Bear mug, Durex Mug, PG Tips mug etc) then I would have thought that those are lovely, and how nice to be able to replace old manky ones

I don't know about we but I like Cornishware. I have a selection of dinner plates, side plates and cups/saucers in the blue that Mum bought cheap when the bowling club decided to upgrade. ? And I'm hoping that Mum's Cornishware mixing bowl survives her so that I can nab it. I swear cakes mixed in it taste better.

Sorry 😆 I told my Mum about them the other weekend and we randomly stumbled across them in a shop window 5 minutes later. I shouted "THOSE ARE THE CUPS!!" and ran in. She saw the price and said she'd buy me one as a present. I couldn't choose just one, I need the set! And the teapot (I don't even use a teapot!).

? I have two so I needn't panic if one's dirty. It's a bit more appropriate than my "I love coffee sex and chocolate" mug when the nanny's around or John's feeling literate.

I'm a bit of a mug-a-holic. This is the tip of the iceberg, as most are in storage! Oh, and this doesn't include all the 80s advertising ones that I've collected (with such gems as the Cadbury's chocolate square shaped mug).

^^^ Obv only a seasonal thing! I also have the matching plates and bowls.

I bought this for J to help with his revision (in large china):

    http://www.msmugs.com/acatalog/info_314.html

And will be getting him this too:

    http://www.msmugs.com/acatalog/info_316.html

Honestly, the amount of crockery I have is shameful - do two people really need 5 full dinner services? My grandma had a china shop when I was little - perhaps it's in the genes?

I love the stripey ones and the LBB one, I saw plates with quotes like that on in Pothmadog last summer and threw a tantrum in the shop when H wouldn't let me buy them. As for Emma Bridgewater, I went into Waterstones the other day and spent an extortionate amount on one of her notebooks so I think I'll avoid the links for now ? I'm terrible for buying new mugs and crockery, we actually don't have any space left in our kitchen, and I had to buy a new wall mounted cabinet just for my wine glasses last year...

I love the Emma Bridgewater polka dot, I have got the teapot, and a Bettys Fat Rascal mug, my friend also bought me 2 of the polka heart mugs for my birthday. I have seen a cream dresser in a charity shop near me that I would love to have to put it out on display.

I love my mismatched mug collection, some of mine are ridiculous but I can't bear to part with them. I've started buying them when I go anywhere fab. You have to be very speshul indeed to be served tea in the Take That mug.

Starry Skies is my favourite EB range, I've got some bits, just not mugs: http://www.emmabridgewater.co.uk/productlist.aspx?cid=PATSSK&language=en-GB

eta I've bought some from here before: https://www.msmugs.com/ they have some great ones. Am loving the Keep Calm and Carry On range.

Of *course* I have the Creme Egg one (shaped like an egg cup!). £1 in BHF 8 years ago, lol! We also have a full set of Pot Noodle mugs (shaped like Pot Noodle errr... pots!); Heinz mugs (baked beans, tomato soup, spagehetti, and WW); Pudsey Bear ones (promotional Shell ones from mid 80s). We've got a 1970s TOTPs; a 1982 World Cup one... there are more. I am a sad, sad woman!

I also have three cow shaped creamers with tourist destinations inscribed on their bums... and bells around their necks ?

And don't get me started on the 'peanut dog'!
