Not keen on the idea, it wouldn't be for me. Plus a few of our guests have a phobia of flying things! lol

I love the idea but a lot of people put me off by saying what if it poos or doesn't do what it should! I would have one def but H2B isn't keen.

I've seen this done at Middleham Castle. I used to work in an old building with a huge garage that had a Barn Owl that lived in the rafters. It was downright vicious! If you walked anywhere near the garage, it used to swoop down and smack you on the head with it's claws so I would cringe if one appeared at a wedding I was a guest at - sorry Smiley sad

If it's something you or H2B would like then fine go for it...one venue we looked at was having the harry potter owl, the bride had got it as a suprise for her H2B as he was a massive HP fan!! ... i personally would be scared of it landing etc and would possibly scream as it flew towards me which wouldn't look very elegant haha!!

i think some animal involvements are cruel but if they are going straight off and not being stored for ages in a small box or whatever then it's ok i think, i think it's sweet when people use their own animals e.g pet dogs, as long as they are taken away straight after and not kept at the venue etc...i saw one advert for pony's to come to your wedding and pose in pictures with you and your guests as 'entertainment' i don't think thats fair!!!

in saying that i reallllllllyy want my big albino pet bunny rabbit to hop down the aisle with a harness on (with a BM) with the rings attached and then go in my parents hotel room (in a full sized indoor cage obviously) but my OH has told me that NOWAY is that happening and his dad has told me that if i bring my pet rabbit he will bring his pet fox.... Smiley sad not a joke i found funny!! so guess thats not happening! she's more like a dog to be honest!! have to flash a pic...

    excuse massive picture!!

anyhoo off topic there...owl is fine if thats what you like (not to my taste) and as long as it's not cruel in any way!

    Smiley smile x

I think its nice if you have a medieval theme or a castle venue, or an interest in owls. But otherwise I think its just another made-up-wedding thing to waste money on.

If you really want it and won't regret it, then go for it though.

I am afraid that this falls into the "pigeon lobbing and live fish centrepieces" box.

Animals at weddings are wrong... beloved pets or not.

We are having a medieval wedding, and we are having owls bought in for pictures. But I dont think I would have them as ring bearers.

My photographer was telling me about a wedding he done where the owl flew down onto a lit candle and burned himself and starting flapping all around the chapel and a guy had to jump in, mid ceremony, in his jeans etc shouting F@#K, B@~*%5E(_S!!! Trying to sort it out.

    Not romantic!
