Samantha2704, 13 March, 2011 at 14:44 Posted on Planning 0 12

Just wondered if anyone is having an order of service for a non church ceremony?

We are not having any readings so didnt know if they were needed?

If anyone is, can you give me an example please!

Thanks Everyone! x

    Hey Samantha!

We aren't having a church ceremony either. Think we are going to do 'Order of the Day' rather than Order of Service., Currently looking at doing them on Vistaprint, some others on here have done them and they look fab!

Possibly putting timings of the day- making sure that people know how long it'll be until the food is served. This is usually my first port of call at a wedding!

I was thinking about this, wasn't sure if we'd need them or not. Might be a good idea to print off a few to have floating around I guess so everyone knows the plan of action.

The Order of the Day option is exactly what i was thinking about!

I think that might be the option to go for so people know what time there eating etc...

    Thank you! Xxx

I am having a church wedding but think we will do order of the day rather than order of service. We will have a timetable of the day, an introduction to our bridal party and list guests names and what tables they are going to be on. I am also going to do them via Vistaprint

Were having a civil service and didn't think i would need these (much to my mums horror - she isn't really getting the whole civil service thing!). SPoke to a woman the other day about our invites etc and she mentioned order of service, I said to her we were having a civil service and she said that didnt matter, that it was ncie for the guests to a have alist of 'who's who' and a little thank you etc, now i think were having them! Something else to add to the list. x

I'm not having them on the day as everything is in one place and pretty straightforward, but I have put an order of the day on our wedding website.

Don't panic - you don't actually "need" them, just like you don't "need" them for a church service - they're in the "nice to have" list as far as I'm concerned; the only thing you "need" at a wedding is a licensed venue, your certificates to say you are able to marry, the registrar and two witnesses; everything else is gravy. Having said that, we will be having them but haven't thought too much about them as yet as we still have 6 months to go, but we do have a design ready for them.
