Original Foreign Divorce Decree

Josh, 30 December, 2021 at 13:13 Posted on Planning 0 1
Me and my partner are going to have our giving notice on Feb 9th once she gets her visa (she is from the US).

The registry office keep saying she needs her ORIGINAL divorce decree and marriage certificate which was over 7 years ago and no longer has them.
She did pay the US government for official stamped copies though so I assume that's fine right?
I have how registry offices word and bang you over the head in regards to requirements without any clarification.

For your own peace of mind, I would ring and ask them, but I doubt very much that government-certified copies will be a problem. There must be loads of people who don't have original copies of their documents due to fire, flood or other reasons, and they cant all stay single for life because of that!
