***Our wedding pub quiz is complete!***

goldpants, 8 of February of 2014 at 19:40 Posted on Planning 2 19

So it is finished! Our wedding pub quiz is all done! We plan to print two/three question papers per table, which will be given out after the speeches (which are before our meal) and everyone will have until the meal is over, approx. 3 hours, to complete the quiz. One answer sheet per table so whole table is a team. Hoping it will give people something to do over dinner as well as get p*ssed! Once we leave the room for the venue to change it for evening oh's brother will be reading answers out in the bar area.

So have grab a pint of gin and have a go - any feedback is welcomed!

Not sure how well it will transfer onto this forum so ignore the layout.... give me a while to insert all the pictures too! Might take a while so bear with!!

Answers to follow later Smiley smile

Yep it is three hours from sitting down to leaving the room. This does include speeches and cake cutting though!

Our venue allows us to supply our own wine with no corkage during the meal, so basically the longer we are seated, the more free wine everyone gets.

Once we move to the bar area for the changeover the bar opens and the free wine goes away, so want everyone to fill their boots before having to pay for drinks at the bar.

We have bought way too much wine (a bottle and a half per person) so it wont run out and there is no limit. It is served by wine waiters and is not on the table so all unopened wine ges ome with us Smiley smile

We know the quiz is on the easier side for those of our generation, but we had to think of it being for all age groups and would rather it be on the easy side, we dont want people to take it too seriously!! It's more of an ice breaker/ something to do.

That's great - I love a pub quiz and think it would be a great way to start conversations at the tables. I didn't do too bad, but had to google the answer for the kids TV show number 2 - I'm forever singing the theme tune but couldn't remember what it was called at all! ?

I love the idea of a quiz! Biased, though, as we did one at ours ?

Our meal, including speeches, wasn't quite 3 hours, but was over 2 hours. Our quiz was only 12 questions, and still we had people rushing to finish it. You have to remember that people will be doing a lot of chatting, eating, drinking, socialising, listening to speeches, etc. Unless there's a table where no one knows anyone you'll find that the majority of the time during the meals will be spent not on the quiz, so it might be a bit long. As easy as some of them might be, there's still 90 questions on there...

Also, will you be announcing the answers during at the end of the meal? We did this, and there was a prize up for grabs, so that also takes time.

    Thanks everyone for your comments!

We never planned for it to be so long, it has been a work in progress for the last 6 months! However, if people would prefer to just socialise, eat drink and be merry that is fine too! OH runs a pub and has quiz nights which our friends and family frequent, and we do a quiz each year on xmas day so wont seem out of place at all to anyone Smiley smile

Very much just an optional bit of fun, especially as we had a 45 min gap in our timings and needed something to fill it.

After umming and ahhing we have decided to give the papers out after the speeches, before the meal is served. Our timings suggest that to be around 15:30. We are to leave the room at 6pm for the changeover, so that is two and a half hours. Once we have left the room and having tea and coffee in the bar area, oh's brother will read out the answers to everyone.

Still undecided on what to have as a prize for winning table - any suggestions?! X

It depends how much you want to spend. Higher end you could get a wine glass or beer tankard engraved with the wedding date, lower end a box of celebrations, bottle of wine etc.

As we have 7-9 people per table, and the whole thing is just a bit of fun, we were thinking of getting some small trophies and then there can be a pic with our tog with the trophies. Our venue are restrictive of what food/drink we can bring in so would rather play it safe.

Oh and must come up with a tie breaker question!! Just in case!

I say it's all a bit of fun but I know just how competitive our families can be!!! l
