Outfit Change?

Zoe, 6 February, 2021 at 18:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16
Hello fellow brides to be!

I am wondering if any of you are changing out of your wedding dress when the reception happens, I’m planning on wearing another white coloured outfit/dress for my reception party. Am I being silly? I want to be able to dance freely and feel comfy Smiley smile

I had planned on multiple outfit changes (wedding dress, traditional Yoruba outfit 1, traditional Yoruba outfit 2, white dancing dress) but with covid I’ve put it on hold as think it would be odd to change if it’s not a longer day.

Yes I, potentially thinking of a two piece for the eve as our wedding will be very laid back, but I think it will depend on what the day dress before I make a decision but I’ve set a budget aside!

What kind of dress were you thinking for day/night?

I was thinking this for my reception as it’s more free and flowing. Haven’t decided on my main dress yet

I was moving between a free flowing dress like the lady above or a white jumpsuit- still flowing at the legs but a low back or front. It was going to be custom made.

I liked the idea of changing into flats, throwing shapes with my groom and friends and having a party vibe whilst still looking bridal

If Boris allows receptions in April I will get it made ASAP. If not, I’ll just wear my wedding dress.

I’m planning to either have a convertible dress ( you can get ones where the skirt detaches) with a shorter skirt under for dancing or I’ll be changing dresses. Not sure yet depends on what I land on style wise but 100% want a more dancing friendly evening dress!

I'm planning an outfit change. My wedding dress isn't really made for dancing and eating so brought a fit and flare dress with pockets so I can eat, dance and keep my phone with me.

A friend of mine got married in a beautiful, but heavy lace, beaded gown with a train and then after the first dance in the evening changed into a sliver white sequin maxi dress! She looked amazing in both and was more comfy but still the star of the show!

This happens quite often, one of my brides wore 3 outfits on the day! :-)

I had considered having a second outfit but I've decided against this as I realised that I will want to wear my wedding dress for as long as possible! I don't want to spend all that money on a dress to wear just for ceremony, but you should do whatever makes you happy. Lots of people have a second wedding dress, not sure about a different casual dress but I don't see why not x

I was thinking the same I chose to have a bodysuit and a skirt to be able to repurpose my dress (I am THAT person who would hate to only wear something once) and the place I got my dress from on Etsy has some great skirt options ?

can you move in your wedding dress? If so comfortable shoes are the answer for getting the most out of the dress and dancing!

    This is beautiful!
I only want one outfit / dress. A wedding day is short enough without changing part way through! Can’t you wear something this lovely all day?
I think you need to think about why you would change? Is it really for comfort or for impact?

I agree! Your wedding dress should make you feel amazing and special, I don’t know if there are two dresses out there to make you feel that way! ?

I’ve been confused about this. My fiancé asked me if I’d like a dress for the reception and I’d never thought about it before.
I think once I have THE wedding dress of my dreams on, I’m not going to want to wear any other dress. I think I’ll want to wear it as much as humanly possible haha xx

I didn't change, as I wanted to get the most out of my wedding dress, I also wanted my evening guests to see it Smiley winking By the evening time you don't really care if your dress is clean or not to be honest lol it didn't stop me from dancing either!!!

I think you might regret it if you take it off. Smiley smile
