Owl ring beaer West Yorkshire? any idea of cost?

3 of August of 2013 at 20:33 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi,

My OH and I think we might like an owl to deliver our rings. Does anyone have a rough idea how much this might cost? Can anyone recommend a company in West Yorkshire please? I'm seeing loads come up when I search online but they're quite far and none seem to list the price which is probably a sign it's going to be too expensive! Lol.

I think it's missmadgiggles who gets married next week that's having an owl bearer so she may be able to help with an idea of the cost. I know they used to have one at Castle Bolton in the Dales as I've seen it on the local news but not sure of any in West Yorkshire. Whereabouts in West Yorks are you? I'm in Dewsbury and have often seen owls and otheer birds of prey at the Pennine Garden Centre in Shelley so it might be worth asking there for some info.

I used to have a shop in Batley in the early 90's but when my lease expired, I moved over to the internet in 2003 to specialise in artificial wedding flowers. I got fed up of getting up at 3am to go to Huddersfield Flower Market 3 times a week LOL! I can highly recommend Lavender Hill Florists in Dewsbury for fresh flowers - they are fabulous designers and their flower quality is top notch or, if you think you might like artificial, my website is below.

Is it Ok to use owls as ring barriers? I always worry that things like that (butterfly releases in particular) are cruel. Being night-time birds will they get freaked out by the guests etc?

Talon falconry do this and they're Yorkshire based http://www.talon-falconry.co.uk/html/barn-owl-ring-bearing.php

Their owls are used for displays etc so no wouldn't get freaked out by flying at a wedding. Whoever is waiting for the owl at the end of the aisle will wear a glove and the owls are so focussed on the glove that they don't get distracted by anything else going on in the room - same as when they do a display really.

No worries at all - good luck on the convincing front!! They stay for a while after the ceremony too so any guests can have a photo holding the owl if they want to ? Ali
