People called Hugh

Flowery the Grouch, 31 October, 2008 at 15:07 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 22

Hugh Laurie - so fab in House, so funny with Stephan Fry (I would)

Hugh Dennis - brill on Mock the Week and the Now Show, and the MWH (Wouldn't, despite him being very, very funny)

Hugh F-W - I don't really need to say anymore on here ? (I would have done, back in the day, but wouldn't now)

What Hugh's am I missing? Why are there so many cool Hughs, despite it not being a particularly auspicious name?

And the flip side to the coolness would be Hugh Hefner, Hugh Scully and Hugh Grant.

Hugh Jackman on the other hand...

A friend of mine's dad is a Hugh who is a big-wig lawyer in Edinbugh, does that count? ?

I always used to think of Hugh as a posh Scottish name but I don't think any of your Hughs are Scottish.

Hugh Jelly, erstwhile glamorous assistant to Julian Clary?

Got to say my first thought was Hugh Jars / Hugh Janus (Sam's brother)

Another one for the "non-cool" list - Hughie Green (showing my age).

I'd like Hugh Jackman to be my Hugh ?

My mate's good mate's sister is married to his brother, don't you know, and he taught my mate rugby. ?

How about Huey Lewis (with or without the News)??

My most senior manager is called Hugh. He's not sexy. Or smart. Or in any way, shape, or form interesting/witty/pleasant to look at. He's a nice person - in the very worst sense of the word 'nice'.

My FIL was called Hugh. He was very cool but sadly no longer with us. I love the name though, it was the only name for a boy we had on our list!

Hugh Laurie - oh, yes, I definitely would! Not as Prince Regent a la Blackadder, mind.
