Performing the ceremony

Claire, 5 November, 2021 at 15:01 Posted on Planning 0 2
We will be having the legal part of our marriage in the registry office and then will be having the ceremony at our venue. We are looking for somebody to perform the ceremony however all the celebrants I have found are charging about the same price as our hall hire which seems excessive! Does anybody know if a "celebrant" is even what we are looking forward or if there is somebody else ho will perform the ceremony for cheaper? Many thanks

It is a celebrant you are looking for but in honesty if you have done the legal bit anyone can do the ceremony. My friend had her uncle do it, he just had to be careful not to say certain words that were legal. If you have someone you think could do it and you would like them to then ask them and they can look on line with you for ideas of wording etc. and what celebrants can and cant say and go from there. best bit is it is free!

A friend of mine did a registry office wedding and then had another friend act as celebrant for what they are calling their 'real wedding' in front of everyone else. They loved it as it meant the ceremony was really personal to them.
