Pew Ends

MissKB, 13 February, 2014 at 14:47 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hey everyone

For some reason I decided I could make my own floral pew ends, to try and save a few pennies on flowers. My plan was to buy some small flower tubes (they hold water and have a rubber stopper on the top with a hole in for the flowers), put my own flowers in them and hang them over the pews.

I did a trial run last night with some gypsophila and quite frankly they look naff. I definitely want flowers on the end of the pews, but does anyone have any suggestions of what I could do that would look good?! I'm on the verge of calling the florist and adding 10 pew ends to my order!!

TIA xx

If you are wanting just gyp, then tied bunches will be the best bet hung on the pews. If you want to add other flowers, then use a small 'pan' as it's called in the trade (I'm a florist myself) and fix some wet foam inside. These have a hole in the handle so you can hang these on the pews. Another way of doing it is to use a Le Clip fastening which clips over the top of the pew and has foam at the other end for arranging your flowers. Because pew ends are precious to the church, ministers don't normally allow anything that will deface the pew so the Le Clip fastening is what we would use but they do work out more expensive than using ribbon. Hope that helps.

Thanks, that does help. Our pews are box pews, so I bought some "S" hooks to hang over the door, with the idea of hanging something off the other side. But they're huge! I've now seen some plastic clips which do the same thing. I was going to put the flower tubes into a cone of some sort to hide them.

I need something thats fairly straight forward, as I'll be putting these together the day before the wedding so dont want to be stressing myself out!!

Pew ends are very popular and can just be a bow, a flower, wicker hearts, traditional flower arrangements or pails filled with flowers... you are most welcome to have a mooch in our photo album and site and be happy to chat over some ideas to see if you can make your dream pew ends Smiley smile
