Photographer - USB or Disc?

HappyPurpleCars874, 3 of September of 2017 at 17:54 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi everyone ?

Looking into photographers for 2019! Does anyone know whether it's better to get your photos on a USB or a disc? And also, what are the questions I need to ask about copyright? I don't really understand it all.

Thanks in advance!

Photo discs and USB sticks both have draw backs, I would always say on either format make sure that they are able to be copied onto a back up memory store somewhere in your house. Copyright wise just make sure that you get permission to print and possibly share your own pictures.

If you are getting full resolution It dosent really matter if you have a disk or usb as the images are the same on each but some people just don't have any facility to use a disk and with either you should be able to create a back up on your hard drive. copyright is usually dealt with via a licence for you to use the images whilst the photo taker retains the actual copyright but you need to clarify this with the shooter. Just make sure that you ask if the images will be full resolution.

Either is fine, doesn't matter. The DVD or USB is just a means of transporting the digital photos to you. Neither is intended for long term storage. Whatever you get they should be downloaded straight away to all the computers you own to keep the files safe.

As well as saving copies to all the computers in the house, it may be worth looking at cloud storage. Many email providers (Google, Microsoft) offer free cloud storage with email addresses or you can buy additional storage if you require.

Also, it's worth checking what you actually get with your photos - we get a copy with our photographers logo on for social media publishing plus a copy without logo so we can print our own for albums etc.
