We are getting married at Bolton School too! Are you having your ceremony there as well as your reception? I would be very grateful if you can let me know how things go as I don't know anyone who has married there before, just saw good reviews online etc.

The band I am using are in the North West and they are just £600 for the night and they DJ too for that. I saw them at a friends wedding and they were fantastic so booked them for mine as soon as I could.

We are getting married in our local Church in Atherton at 1pm and then going to bolton school for wedding breakfast and evening do. I thought it was quite expensive to marry there, bearing in mind you had to get 2 lots of chair covers, pay £600 for the ceromny room, pay for the registrar and pay for the pianist so decided to get married in church as it was considerably cheaper.

I found a harpist to play during our meal too: http://northernharps.co.uk/ she is £175 for the first 1.5 hours and then 60 per 1/2 hour after. She has done a wedding there before and has recommended 2 hours for the wedding breakfast so will be £235 and she is fab - she will book you in and you don't have to pay anything until the day unless someone else is interested in the date and then she will contact you to tell you.

Also the band Cherrybomb have won awards and are a 5 piece band, i saw them at my friends wedding and booked them after. My friend saw them at another wedding so they are highly recommended.

Thanks everyone for all the links/information on musicians and bands. I will have a good look at them all with my OH.

MrsLeighToBe - I know what you mean about the expense of hiring the Great Hall/Main Hall chair covers etc... Originally we wanted to be married in my OH hometown church St Barts Westhoughton but opted for Bolton School out of convenience really. Alot of our guests that will be travelling so far and don't know the area, we thought it easier in the long run to have everything done in the same place.

Bolton School is an amazing venue I was there last week, i went to quote for a venue dressing job, my mum just walked round saying WOW every few minutes!

Not sure if you've considered a singer/DJ for your evening reception? I have performed for many happy hitchers over the years. I haven't been to Bolton School before but I have a wedding booked in there next April. I perform at 70+ wedding receptions each year throughout the UK and offer various packages combining my singing and DJing sets that start at £595.
