Picking Suppliers - help

I’m recently engaged and have booked my wedding for 1st June 2022. I’ve done the venue - photographer/ videographer and band. I’m a bit lost as to where to go next with 2 things.

1 - hair and makeup

How do you know who to pick? Everyone can make makeup look good in pictures so how do I know I’m picking a good artists that won’t make me orange!

2 - flowers/ venue styling

I feel so lost on these areas. I have some Pinterest visions and that’s about it. When I reach out to suppliers hey say pick a styling bundle or talk me through plans but I literally have no idea how to vision and pick these things without guidance! I dont want a supplier to agree with me because I’m the bride I want some honest opinions on what will and won’t work!

How soon should I book these in advance?

Florists tend to have definite styles, so check out a few websites and talk to the ones whose arrangements you really like. A good florist should be able to make some suggestions based on a few ideas. If the ones you've contacted don't really want to give any suggestions, I'd avoid them anyway!
For hair & makeup, again, have a look at a few websites to get a feel for what you like & don't like. I'd also check out Facebook pages - you can't delete unfavourable reviews from a Facebook page, so these are much more helpful than reviews quoted on a website. (And I avoid any supplier who doesn't allow reviews on their FB page, because it suggests they've maybe had to disable the function due to too many negative reviews!) When you've narrowed it down, book a trial with your favourite, just to check you're happy with the look he/she produces.
