Places for receptions in or near Durham?

chelleybean, 15 August, 2010 at 14:24 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi,

I would appreciate any ideas for somewhere to hold my wedding reception in or around Durham.

Ideally somewhere with a kind of function room because i'm thinking of having a buffet.

Cheaper places too ? got a budget to think of!

Thanks

-Michelle

Definitely worth giving Durham Uni a call, they have a few venues at the colleges which would be flexible with you having a buffet. You could give Ramside Hall a try too?

Hi! I'm looking in this area too. I went on the venue search part of here which helped and also one of the lovely ladies on here recommended Jersey Farm in Barnard Castle which looks nice. I've been to weddings at St Chad's and the castle in Durham City both of which were lovely but not sure of prices x

    Hi,

We're getting married and holding our day reception at St Hild & St Bede College in Gilesgate and having our evening reception at Hatfield College (near the Cathedral). Both are part of Durham Uni. The don't charge room hire (unless you book the castle) and are really flexible with food options, as well as reasonable. It's run by Event Durham and definitely worth a google and a ring.

I think I should get a cut of their profits as I recommend them so much! ?

    Happy hunting!!

    Car. x
