Hi everyone! So something that I thought would be super easy to plan is just being a total pain... a.k.a how to dress the fussiest BM's EVER!
Argh! I have two very different ladies, totally different shapes, complexions, tastes and I have tried everything to find dresses they both like... even differnt dresses, different shades and its all not good enough for them.
Anyone care to flash their Ibza BM's dresses to see if any inspire us
Hey... I feel sorry for you if you are having issues with your BM's. If I was a BM I would just be honoured to be asked and would NEVER moan/make the brides life difficult!!! Anyway, if it helps, this is mine but in a different colour. We are having it in champagne.
Ibizalovin, I almost bought the second Dessy dress for my bridesmaids! In the end I ordered them dresses online from Dorothy Perkins and told them to come over and try them on and see if they liked them. Both of them have different colourings etc. It wasnt a dress you'd really love or hate either way. I also bought them jewellery from Pilgrim without asking their opinions!
oooh Pix that’s lovely! I do really want them to feel happy and comfortable and throughout the process have always been open to them wearing what they like and want rather than me choosing something that they don’t like...BUT... I have shown them loads of options and none have been right but they haven’t found other options either so time is ticking and budget is waning and I need some decisions made
Re budget... We have finally decided to go with and earlier service at San Miquel so it will be a longer day (and we will need to feed our guests twice) but I didn’t want to be in a situation that by the time we arrived at Amante it was dark and we were only finished eating at 11.
That dress isnt a Dessy its from Nordstrom and I bought it last night in the sale... I needed action. I might need to send it back but I have an appointment with Maids to Meausure in a couple weeks and although their dresses are lovely theyre £100 more than the Nordstrom one!
Funnily enough we also bough Dorothy Perkins dresses originally that I loved, they actually also really liked them too. The problem though was that my sister was too big for the biggest size but was convinced she would loose weight for the wedding but she hasnt so I have two dresses that will be unused hanging in my wardrobe. Its this one
Deb which ones did you get and what is your jewellery like?
Rubbish pic, its cobalt blue and really vibrant in the flesh! I had wanted chunky gold jewellery but my bridesmaids dont like wearing yellow gold. So I changed my mind and went with silver instead. Im looking for silver wedges just now. I cant work out how to save this image to my fiances mac lol, so here's a link to the necklace. I also got a chunky Pilgrim bracelet for them.
I know you want them to be happy, but if they're not coming up with a solution then you're just going to have to pick something. What do you/ they like and dislike?
Blue Moon, that green dress is gorgeous! In fact, all of the BM dresses on here are lovely. Here's mine. They're TwoBirds and they looked great on all four of my girls. Great option if you have girls with different shapes/sizes/tastes as they're super flattering and can be tied 15 different ones. This isn't me by the way, it's just a pic I found of the dress!
I really wanted to get the Two Birds dress aswell!! But I couldnt figure out if there was any way they could wear a bra with it, so decided against it...as they both need a bra!
I really like the two birds dresses - my BM tried one on and we were very tempted! They are lovely and the fabric is really flattering. I just preferred the colour of the Maria Cornejo one above even though it cost way more than I was planning to spend, just like everything else associated with this wedding! ?
One of my maids needs to wear a bra too, so she's got the matching bandeau to wear with it, it's the exact same colour and material as the dress and will hide the bra. The rest of the girls are going to wear the stick-on cups to just give them some shape at the front.
Those of you that were asking about shipping/sending wedding things to ibiza, you might want to try freddy, he's got a regular van service and he also has dry storage available.....
Full length ballgown, £240 each. Quite expensive, but you don't need to make any alterations, apart from length. I love them! So glad I got them. Plus my girls love them too, which was really important to me.
A bit off topic, but is anyone having a hen night when they're over there? Im going to be planning mine for maybe 15 of us. My original idea was to have champagne on the beach in the afternoon and then later on I had wanted to go to the Cardamom Club, which I love. But it changed to only doing private dinner parties last year. I thought this would have been great, but after making enquiries I felt it was going to work out too expensive for people!
Another idea I had was to go to Bambuddha Grove and reserve an area. Does anyone have any ideas for somewhere we could go that would be a bit different for dinner and drinks?
Tiff plans ibiza hen parties for £50 - well worth it in my opinion as groups of girls can be a nightmare to organise, especially when you have to keep an eye on the budget!!
Hello, it is usually a taxi ride away but i highly recommend Aura. If you email Adina ****@*********.*** and say Leah from Your Wedding Angel sent you she will look after you and your hen party.
You can have dinner and then go to the club next door after .
I looked into this too it seems like a good option and pretty close to our side of the island. I suppose its what youre looking for as apparently Jockey Club is good for tasty (but posey) cocktails and light food in the sun- or Sa Punta? Have you tried looking at the W Ibiza website lots of reviews etc
I had thought of the Panorama terrace at Sa Punta actually! The oldest woman there will be 85, so I really dont want anywhere too pretentious. I might always get back to the Cardamom Club. There was a hire charge that i'd spilt between everyone going, and then you pick the menu you want. You have to take a drinks package though, and I would rather everyone just drinks and pays for what they want.
I'll contact Tiff and Aura, thanks for the suggestions!
I've reserved an area in sa punta for the night before the wedding, Rodolpho who is the manager has been really helpful. We are putting a few quid behind the bar but there was no pressure to even do that.
Hi - Has anyone booked a hairdresser yet? I've been sent details of Belissima but they are very expensive, around 375 for hair and makeup. I really just need a hair stylist, my friend is doing my make-up. I don't want to spend a fortune, just need someone who can do something nice with my hair without it looking like super-hairsprayed 80s wedding hair!
My friend is doing my hair and Smack Ibiza are doing my make-up. Think they do hair too, although they're probably around the same price! Sorry that doesn't really help!
Hair and make-up is really dear over there isn't it.?! Im going into the salon in Santa Eularia for mine, Bellissima. It was half the price to go in rather than have them come to the hotel room, so I may aswell just go in. Im staying in the Fiesta hotel in Cala Llonga on the wedding day, so it's only 10 mins away for me.
Everything is pretty much sorted! Did our marriage course at the church a few weeks ago, I've filled in all the forms for the church, so all that's left to do for the ceremony is the certificate of no impediment, but can't do that until few months before. I designed my invites and they're currently at the printers, should get first set of proofs for them at the weekend, so excited! Men's suits are next on list, bridesmaid accessories, and few DIY things that I'm planning. Hmmm, maybe I've got more to do than I thought! All the main things are done, it's just little bits and pieces that are left. Going over in May for our tasting, can't wait!
I also think we are nearing being close to done...but don’t want to jinx it! Decided just to buy the BM’ dresses and they are coming around this weekend to try them on. I’ve pretty much reached the point that unless they absolutely hate them they’re the ones.
Keep having loads of lovely deliveries from etsy, recently we’ve recieved our table number holders, menus cufflinks, table runners, just married banner for the car and venue, and our ring bowl is on its way. We’ve also not got all the candle holders, lanterns and other decorations that we want/need so I’m really happy. Some of them just need their ribbons and raffia tied on.
Florist, church, dj, photographer, car, menu and outfits all sorted except the accessories. Our marriage course is in 2 weeks and first dress fitting in about 5 weeks…. Argh time is flying!!
Only having some small issues with wedding cake and wedding catering because we now are now having an earlier service and longer day we have really stretched the food budget.
Also need to plan/ make all of our day’s stationary to match our home made invites… Jen like you it’s these little things that we need to do… little but large J
Invites went two weeks ago so waiting for final numbers. We’ve been surprised at how slow they come in and we currently only have 43 confirmations which is much lower than we thought! Lots of people didn’t book when we told them to months ago and are now struggling to get cheap flights. I was stressed a bout this at first but now realise that there is nothing I can do if they didn’t get them then that’s it. All we could do was advise them.
Totally exciting times!!!!
I’m even on my second pair of wedding shoes… hahaha … decision making issues!
