Hi, I am due to get married 27th August 2012 in Pura Vida, it is amazing and food is best I have ever tasted. It is a lovely venue and Alex is great to work with
I think Pura Vida is a great venue - Alexandra is very organised, happy to work with planners and flexible on the menu too.
You do have to start the party early there though as the volume level has to
be very low after midnight. I would actually recommend having all of the
dancing inside if you think you might end up with your first dance much
after about 9pm, otherwise things will very quickly wind down when it's time to move inside.
Thank you so much. Even my mum wouldn't be ready to stop dancing at midnight! That is actually quite an important part of my night and would defintiely want somewhere a bit more flexible with the music. From your experience as a DJ which wedding venues area little more relaxed with the music and finish time?
Can I work with Alexandra direct or only through a planner?
alexandra is happy to work direct - you should probably make the decision about whether to use a planner before you contact the venues though as some venues are a lot less flexible when they see you as their client rather than the planner's client ;-)
I'm a Pura Vida bride! Getting married on 28th August 2012, day after Allie!
Feel like I've had this debate about music levels so many times... In fact, I chose Pura Vida BECAUSE I wanted the party to go on after midnight. The whole of Ibiza has strict noise restrictions, so you have to move the music inside at midnight. Pura Vida has a lovely inside area, so our DJ is just going to turn the speakers around and we'll close the doors. Lots of other venues you have to stop at midnight completely and I definitely did not want that to happen! The DJ and Alexandra have both assured us that the dancing can still continue, it just won't be as loud as a club obviously! (Think Bee, as a DJ, has different perspective on noise levels! The music definitely won't be my definition of 'very low'.) If you want club-volume music in Ibiza, you have to have the reception in a club, as Alexandra told me!
Pura Vida is a gorgeous venue and is so cost effective. Alexandra is brilliant and the food is amazing. I encourage you to go see it and have a meeting with Alexandra yourself though. There's only so much info you can get from a forum like this, so much better to see it for yourself and Alexandra will be able to talk through your concerns so much better than we can.
it's only some places where you have to go indoors, totally depends on the venue, surroundings, and neighbours. some weddings & parties go on all night outside.
i'm sure your wedding will be everything you hope for jenny, so please don't worry :-)
as i think i said before, i'm not comfortable with you selling somewhere as a late night party venue when you haven't actually been to an event there yet.
i think pura vida is a lovely venue and would have no hesitation recommending it, but they do have to be cautious there because of their neighbours so i do recommend having all the dancing inside.
the same applies to atzaro - it's extremely difficult to move the party inside at midnight, so you are much better off having your first dance in the indoor party area and having all of the dancing there.....
Has anyone had any success prebooking minibuses/taxis? I know that you can't prebook the regular taxis, but we're trying to prebook some minibuses for our villa and I'm not having any success! It's driving me mad!
Funny you should say that, as transport has been the trickiest thing for us to book! We searched for a bridal car for ages, before we had some success booking a white rolls royce with Ibiza Hire. But even then they were quite slow in getting back to us. Alexandra at Pura Vida has booked us a minibus to take guests from hotel to church, the mini-train to take guests from church to PV, then shuttle to take guests from PV back to hotel. Not sure who the company is though... Jx
I have emailed them all but had no reposnse, except from Ibiza hire and they are REALLY expensive. I'm going to try and call Bigfoot ibiza this weekend as they have been reccomended to me on trip advisor, although I have emailed them and no response so I'm not holding my breath. It's not that important, as we can either taxi it, or drive and leave cars etc so after this weekend I'm giving up on it!
This time next week I'll be in Ibiza ladies, so excited now!!! ?
Do you want me to email Alexandra at Pura Vida for the contact details of the minibus company we're using? For 50 guests, a minibus from hotel in Es Cana to church in San Carlos (a 7-min drive) is costing us around 300 euro. Think minibuses in general are expensive on the island, that's what we found in our research anyway!
Only just seen this... I found that comment very patronising. I'm not 'selling' the venue, simply stating my opinion and what I've been told from the venue itself and third parties.
Sorry if you took it that way - it definitely wasn't intended to be patronising....
maybe selling is a strong word, but you were suggesting that it is one of the best choices if you
want to party after midnight and i'm not sure that it is. very few venues impose a midnight finish
and there are many where you can party until 2am and beyond. it definitely still sounds like the right venue for you anyway and as i said i'm happy to recommend it to others - pura vida is a great venue with great staff and it ticks a lot of boxes. honestly, don't worry - your wedding will be perfect :-)
i usually try and avoid these discussions, especially online, but ibizaweddingbaby specifically asked me for my opinion so i just wanted to give her a balanced view, based on the weddings that i played at there last year.
every venue is different and i'm one of the few people that gets to compare them all so i'm happy to share my experience. i'm pretty much the only person that always stays until the very end too so i get a good view of the party!
Reading things online obviously things can be taken in a way that wasn't intended! I wasn't suggesting it was the best for after midnight...just that it was best for us, and the other options we had considered, ie location and budget. Every bride is different after all :-)
Hi Mrs Mckke to be, I'm getting married at Cas Mila 3 weeks on Thursday (eeekkk its getting close!) Anyway, I emailed Candida last Friday and got an email reply from her over the weekend. I know that she is seriously busy with weddings and is trying to deal with queries based on priority of when the wedding is due to take place, so I wouldnt worry if I were you, I'm sure she will be in touch with you soon.
Can I ask what everybody are doing for table plans?? Are many of you going with the usual board? If so how are you getting it there? I'm not leaving myself much time lol.
Planning this wedding had been fairly straight forward and stress free until now. Only weeks before the big day and I've found myself needing ti buy a new dress! I'm having an absolute nightmare frinding bridesmaids shoes! Argh!!!
Hi Sarah! Three weeks to go, wow! Bet you're super excited (minus the stressful parts!). For a table plan, I've got a vintage suitcase that I'm bringing over probably in my dad's suitcase! I'm stringing twine around it and pegging the paper table info onto it if that makes sense.
How come you need to buy a new dress?! What a nightmare! What colour and heel height do you need for bridesmaids? Next have got a good selection at the moment?
I need a new dress because I bought mine nearly 2 years ago as motivation/incentive to lose weight to fit into it. I've lost 7 stone and my shape has dramatically changed so the style no longer suits me. Thankfully I found a dress at the weekend, just need to sell mine now.
As for bridesmaids shoes, we found two pairs in Next (one bridesmaids wants strappy shoes in a wide fit, the other hate her feet so wants closed toe shoes in either a size 2.5 or 3) We ordered them from Next Directory because we were struggling to get them in store. They have been on order for nearly 6 weeks now, hopefully they should be here next week (keeping everything crossed).
I like the sound out your ideas for table plans! One of my bridesmaids (the creative one lol) suggested I have a small table to one side with picture frames on top, each frame is named after a bay in Ibiza and has a list of peoples names in them, they then go to the appropriate named table which will also have a picture frame on so they know they are at the right table. I like the idea of this but wonder if it might look a bit confusing?
Who have you all booked for hair & makeup, photography & Dj? I've gone with Smack for hair & makeup, had my trial in May and loved them. We've booked Ana Lui for photography & Beezwax for the DJ. Has anyone booked guitarist? We got a price from a friend of a friend but it worked out quite expensive, would be interesting to hear what anyone else has been quoted.
I'm really excited and can't wait until we all fly out, in fact I think all my friends on facebook will be sick of me because I keep counting down lol.
Well done on your amazing weight loss, that's such an achievement. I've lost 2 stone but ideally would like to lose another stone, not sure if it'll happen! I'm glad you've found another dress. You're going to look incredible!
I like your idea with the photo frames for a table plan, I don't think it would be confusing, as long as they're clearly labelled.
For make-up I've got Smack too. My friend is a hairdresser so she's doing all of our hair. Photographer I have Gypsy Westwood and DJ is Johnny Hocking. I thought about a guitarist but decided against it due to budget. We're having the fire show after dinner instead.
Don't worry about annoying people on FB ha ha! Enjoy every second, we all know how fast time flies!
7 stone, wow! That's incredible. Well done to you, I'm sure you will look fab.
I've booked Louisa Mason Cooper to do my hair in October (http://www.louisa-mason-cooper.com/) and will do my own make-up. Gypsy Westwood is booked for photos and we're doing a DIY ipod disco... we've asked people for their favourite songs to dance to and it's all working out well so far! Zeta at Amante has been really helpful with all the details.
Antonio Munoz is going to play the guitar at our drinks reception. He's very nice and I think his rates are reasonable. We're just having him on his own, although he can also bring a whole band plus dancers if you like! https://www.ibizaflamencoevents.com/
Hi Bluemoon, Thanks for the link to teh website, I've just emailed them now. We were wanting the guitarist liek you for thedrinks reception. Can I be cheeky and ask how much they are cahrging you?
Need some hen do advice! I'm doing an awards ceremony for my friends, fun things like that are personal to each girl. I'll print off the awards and put them in envelopes, but should I get a prize for each of them? Like a little medal or rosette? Budget is running low and I've already made them all goody bags as well. What do you think?
I've emailed that bus company aswell, he'll be wondering how he got so much business this week lol! Especially since his enquiry form on his site doesnt seem to work.
Jenny, are you having a hen night here aswell as Ibiza? Im just having 1 in ibiza. I organised somewhere for it last week. x
