El Chiringuito is lovely and Lucy the planner is fantastic - every wedding I have DJed at there looks completely different and really personal. Very good value there too :-)
Nice to know I'm not the only person planning 20 months in advance :-) We're getting married on 27th June. How about you? Have you decided on which package you're going with? We've decided on the 3 course meal option and Ana Lui will be our photographer. Apart from that... I'm open to ideas!
Have you been to Ibiza to see the venue? We actually live in Australia but are going to visit Ibiza in August next year to meet with suppliers etc. I know Cala Tarida really well as my fiancée used to work as a lifeguard on that beach! The sunsets are amazing.
Hi Sophie
It seems a long way away but everyone keeps telling me how quickly it will come round !
We are going to see the venue in June but ibiza is our favourite place on earth, we go two or three times a year :-)
we have opted for the BBQ package because we are such fussy eaters! We have added lots of extras to our package also
we have chosen to book an English photographer who is going to fly over for a few days as were also having a wedding reception when we return and they are also photographing this
Just reading your posts about planning your Cas Mila weddings makes me want to do it all over again :-).
We had Beezwax as our DJ, he was great. In fact he is on this forum so you can pick his brains. I hear that the DJ in the package is also good. We went with Beezwax because he got brilliant reviews on lots of forums. One thing to point out though, if you aren't already aware Ibiza has laws on music which means it has to be turned down at midnight and go indoors. Because my wedding was July, not many people went inside to dance as it was so hot.
I didn't get extra flowers, I just had what was in the package. Flowers are really expensive in Ibiza and they don't last very well due to the heat.
We stayed in Cala Llonga as did 99% of our guests. It's where we always stay and we try to go 2-3 times a year, staying at the El Pinar aparthotel. For the wedding we booked the penthouse and stayed in there with my inlaws. It was just like having a villa but then also having the social side of things by chatting to people round the pool and bar.
We didn't put any money behind the bar. We arranged for all of our guests to meet at a friends restaurant in Cala Llonga, where they were served tapas and drinks, which we paid for. They were there for about an hour an half to 2 hours before the coach picked them up to take them to Cas Mila. To be fair, Cas Mila served a lot of drinks after the ceremony and during the meal. And we had the bbq package, which was delicious! There was so much food served to the table.
We booked a couple of extras, the guitarist and the fire dancers - they really add that extra something to the day. Our photographer was Ana Lui and I had Smack Ibiza for hair and makeup.
If any of you would like to have a look at some pics just send me your email address.
I am new to this wedding chat, newly engaged and desire a wedding in Ibiza. Does anybody know whether you can still get married at the cliff top opposite Es Vedra? That is were I got engaged and I would love to get married there.
Hello ladies, me and my partner Ben are also getting married at Cas mila not until may 2015 but I am so excited. We are looking at staying in San Antonio bay at the sirenis hotel for 7 days then go onto the hacienda just for me and him for 3 nights when every1 has left . Sarah I am intrigued to see your wedding photos my email address is ***************@*******.**.** I how long was it before that you sent your save the dates out ? I'm thinking in the next few weeks? Which is 17 months before? Is this to early!!! You said you stayed in cala longa? Did you get ready in your hotel? Or go to Cas mila.. I'm struggling to get my head around that part of the organising... Where my fiancé is going to stay the night before if I stay in the hotel room? His best man has a toddler and my bridesmaid has a baby..? Did you just organise another room with the hotel for the night before the wedding? Every1's input will help lots... Thankyou so much xxxxx
I have created a wedding website and in the process of designing some postcard save the date invites I'm lacking inspiration and i really don't think traditional is the way to go. Does anyone have any quirky ideas or suggestions for wording to put on the the invites?
Hi beeZwaxibiza - I contacted the El Chiringuito that I had looked at, but apparently they are in a nature reserve and don't allow any loud music of any kind. I know that all of the beach bar type places are referred to as Chiringuito's but that they are two main wedding ones...it's getting a little confusing - do you have the website for the one you refer to? Is it the Cafe Mambo one?
We've booked our flights now and will be coming over on 3rd May and are trying to put together our list of venues to look at. I was wondering if anyone has looked at:
Pura Vida Atzaro Beach Club Ses Roques Babylon Beach Ibiza Elements Beach Bar
Any feedback would be great - the top two on the list are our current faves, without seeing them in person
Hi, If you are looking for a small wedding - then you can stand on the cliff top overlooking Es Vedra, My Husband is a celebrant host and many couples choose to have the blessing just before sunset on the cliff top. This is fine if only about 10/12 people. If there are more people then it gets difficult as it is not officially allowed so could possibly be stopped. There is a wedding planner who does actually still orgainse weddings on this cliff top though, so I suggest you contact her if you are more than 12 people. www.ibiza-magic.com
Also you can hire a few different villas in the area that overlook Es Vedra. Prices are quite high but stunning locations. Also Elixier has a beautiful Es Vedra view.
El Chriniguito yes there are several on the Island. The One you contacted is near Salinas, a very busy beach, they do hold weddings, but do not close for the event. El Chriringuito Cala Graccio, is part of the Café Mambo group, lovely small cove, intimate weddings are lovely there, although the beach isn't closed it is quiet in the evening. Lucy is a really good in house wedding planner.
Atzaro Beach Club - hasn't had very good reviews this summer, although it is above a lovely beach.
Ses Roques - I presume you mean the one at Cala Comte, nice location, not sure how good they are I haven't delivered a wedding cake there for about 3 years.
Purs Vida - I personally do not like the service at this venue, its on a beach has some good reviews.
Babylon Beach - nice location, good food, I have only known them cater to one wedding - which was excellent, they may well be taking reservations for 2014.
Elements - I presume you mean Experimental beach at Cap Des Falco - this is one of my favourite venues, verfy private for a wedding plus added bonus of beautiful sunset. Elisa - a great in house wedding planner.
Thanks for your the overview on each of the venues I put forward. For Elements I meant: http://www.elements-ibiza.com/ Experimental loos great but with their minimum venue spend of £12-15k, it puts it over our budget.
Its a shame about Atzaro Beach not having great reviews, the actual venue looks stunning. Their comms have been great too, but their actual wedding marketing material is a little confusing and we've not able to work out a rough price from it. Perhaps I will keep an eye I see what wedding reviews come up and see if there is an improvement at the start of next season...we have a while to go so it may get better with feedback?
The Chironguito that you mention - Cafe Mambo run - looks really lovely. Setting looks great and there seem to be lots of positive reviews, so AR just need to wait back to receive their marketing material.
La Escolleta is the final place that we are currently speaking to, but I can't find much about them?
Please do let me know if there are any others venues that you think I should add to my list - unfortunately Amante and Elixir are just slightly over our budget
i originally was going to hold my wedding at El Chrininguito and Lucy is absolutely amazing! The reason we did not book El Chiringuito was that they have a very strict music policy so music had to be turned down at 11pm. This did not suit us as the most important thing to us was a big party.
In the end I chose Pura Vida and I am very happy with my choice. Yes the music needs to be turned down slightly at midnight however we can go inside and keep the party going. We wanted to get married on the beach and we will have their private section of beach to get married on. We booked for June so we don't have to pay a venue fee, so we just need to pay for food and drink. Instead of desert we are having a wedding cake at no extra cost as they have a bakery on site.
I have just spoken to Alexandra today and she has advised that she is redecorating over winter but will still have the rustic, nature, chic look.
I am able to do anything I like to the venue and dress it however I like and I can also bring my own stuff to have it just the way I want it. Also, regarding food, again I have been told I can have anything I want but I have gone with their BBQ option.
Congrats on booking a venue - is it 2014 that you are getting married? I've also spoken to Alexandra and will be meeting her when we fly out. She seemed really nice over email and, like you agreed to let us have our wedding cake as desert - I didn't think we needed two lots of cake within an hour of each other.
El C looks lovely but music and the party ate v important to us too and, with a late ceremony, I think that 11 would be top early for us to start winding down. This is one of the reasons that La Escollera is oh my list as we can have music etc till 2am which seems really good.
RE Pura vida, I got a good feeling from my emails with Alexandra, but some people commented on it looking shabby and having bad management, which started to worry me. If you booked it, I'm guessing that you didn't get this type of feelings? Location wise, a Santa E venue would be really great as we will have mixture of people with it. We have also decided that, wherever we go, we want a beach BBQ. Thank you for your comments, you've helped put my mind at ease on this venue and it is staying on my shortlisted for visiting in May
Were there any others that you looked at that I may not yet have seen?
I am having my ceremony at 5.30 and we have the venue until 2am or that's when the music needs to be stopped so it works well for us. To be honest pura vida was the only venue I looked at and for what we are paying I needed to look to further :-)
personally I did not think it was shabby plus she is redecorating this winter. Also, once you put your touches on I think the venue will be fine.
I am happy with the venue hence why I booked however you also get what you pay for and I think I have an absolute bargain!
Sorry I cannot recommend any other venues as I went for the first one I saw.
That's brilliant - once you know, you know. And always good to come away from something feeling like you've got a bargain - hopefully its as easy for us! We aren't going to be getting married until Sept 2015, so have a little while to plan, but am desperate to see the venues and get my date reserved now!
Have you decided if you and guests are going to stay in Santa Eulalia too?
Yes, I was very impatient lol however, I got engaged in May this year and getting married next June so I did not have allot of time to spare.
No, we are staying in Playa d'en Bossa. I have been to ibiza 5 times and always stayed in Bossa, it's handy for the airport and close to ibiza town.
You will be fine, you too will find your 'one'
I am hoping to get back out there in May to meet all my suppliers and run though all the venue dressing with Alexandra but Ryanair have let me down, their flights are so expensive from the north west grrrr fingers crossed their flights come down otherwise I cannot go back out before the wedding
Did any of you have Steve Mita as a DJ for your wedding? If so, how was it? Music is so important to have a nice wedding!! so I just wanted to double check before confirming
Do you have any recommendations for hair and makeup? I would like something really natural (especially since I am getting married in July so it will be quite hot!)
I have seen the names of Bellissima, Smack, Marie Kerr and Fashion Beauty (San Carlos), I would love to hear from someone who has any info!
It is the Cafe Mambo one and Lucy is honestly one of the very best planners I've met - her weddings are so personal, which is really unusual for a venue wedding here. They also have options for an afterparty, which I think is a fantastic idea if you've got your heart set on a beach wedding but are worried about the noise restrictions.
It is true that they have to be careful about the music, but all the popular beach venues are like that now - the music has to be pretty much off by midnight, so you have to have the dancing part of your wedding more or less wrapped up by then. People will naturally leave the dancefloor once the volume is cut and it's always hard to get people inside anyway.
Some of the beach venues allow you to have a DJ after midnight and some don't, but all of them require the music to be turned down to low background level, so they encourage you to have a 'chill-out' party after the curfew.
The other 'El Chiringuito' is at Es Cavallet beach and they rarely do weddings now as they make so much money from their usual restaurant trade.
La Escollera is a lovely venue and I have seen parties go quite late there before. Do you have any idea on prices yet? It's a fairly expensive restaurant but their wedding packages could well be pretty reasonable.....
Re La Escollera, we had a lovely email back from the daughter of the couple that own the restaurant - Andrea. She has been a pleasure to deal with so far. For a BBQ, they would need us to have exclusivity of the restaurant as would not want the smoke disturbing their other guests, which is understandable, especailly for a restaurant with such a strong reputation.
They have come back with a lovely option for us, but sadly it is well out of our range. I've gone back to see if there is any leaway, but I think it is going to be a struggle to bring it down by as much as we would need it, which is a shame. Oh yes, you may be interested to know that the party can go on until 4am at this venue! Pretty impressive I understand!
I've had the standard info over for Cafe Mambo, but the menu did not include as BBQ menu, as was per my request, Also, the exclusivity fees - which I believe are compulsary - are £3,500 alone for a Sat in September. I'm going to clarfiy this point as it looks lovely so would like to know if this has to be taken out or not.
My fave for comms and the overall package so far is Alexandra at Pura Vida - she has been really great, accommodating and changing parts of the quote for us to make it more affordable etc, close second from Candi, although I'm not quite sure if Cas Mila is right for us as although it is overlooking the beach, I don't get the feeling that you can actually use the beach as part of the wedding? Lovely venue so please nobody take offence, I'm just not sure if it is perfect for what we have in mind. But both quotes seem very competitive at this stage.
I'm quite enjoying finding some more out of the way venues that seem to be overlooked on the forums, it's nice to see what else is out there, other than the ones with big marketing budgets
We got engaged in September but have had to move back in with the parents since in order to save hard for the mortgage and wedding, so Sept 2015 it is for us! Can I ask, did you have to put down a deposit to secure a date? I'm worried that by the time we get there in May, the two Saturdays we are most interested in may have been taken.
Sorry to hear about your fights, we managed to get a return from an airport near us in Essex for £80 each and a hotel for £30 a night, room only, so we were lucky on this front. Although, i'm sure that you can leave it to Alexandra and it will look just as you imagine
You are being very smart! It always surprises me how many people make a decision without even visiting the island or looking past the most popular venues. There are some amazing bargains to be found and so many hidden gems around the island. Have a good think about your favourite restaurants here, make friends with people that live here, see if you can round up a good group of people to rent a villa that could double up as your wedding venue, speak to the suppliers to see if they have any ideas for you - then you'll have peace of mind that you've picked the perfect wedding venue, even if it was the first one you found. Happy hunting!
I am getting married at cas mila Saturday 31st may
we went this may to have a look and loved it! Pictures don't do this place justice.
Just wondered if anyone has used Ivan? We really wanted lovely Laura but she is unavailable for our date and I love that she freestyles over all sorts of music.
we really want something to get our guests up on the dance floor so any recommendations or ideas would be great! Has anyone used fire dancers? I'm in 2 minds what to have as I was so set on lovely Laura!!
