Hi vicky, Candi told us to just box stuff up and send over to her. We havent really bought an Decs as i think the flowers and table centres will be enough. Our wedding favours are small enough for us to carry over.
My wedding's 6th September this year - the heat is an issue but can't see that it will be hugely different if we move it an hour forward - it's going to be hot whatever - we're just so concerned about the party and dancing coming to an abrupt end at midnight, especially if the wedding starts later than usual weddings in the UK. Plus if we move it forward, the first dance will be around sunset! Jeez, i'm gonna have to invest in some decent deodorant haha!!
Heather, what favours did you buy in Ibiza? I want to get white fans to lay on each chair at the ceremony, then something small on the table, but planning to get all this here and take it out with me as you can't send anything to Elixir in advance. We booked our flights from the UK with Norwegian Airlines by the way and you're allowed up to 60kg of baggage so we should be ok as my parents have got the same.
Yes Gema - 100 days - so so exciting!! Defs need to see some pics when you're back! xx
We get married 31st july and was told we couldnt bring the ceramony forward even by an hour because of the heat. I have spoken to some ladies that have already had their weddings in ibiza amd they say there is enough time for music and dancing as this was my concern. x
Lj_ibizababy we have opted for the flower arch for the ceremony, we are making our own fan programmes and petal cones to hand off the end chair pews (petals coming from vickkis florist).
Were making our own table plan, name cards, menu and menu holder, taking our own ribbon for the napkins (well hessian), weve also opted to make our own centerpieces (mason jars decorated with lace, hessian, ribbon etc and then we are getting vickkis florist to fill them with 30e of matching flowers - we are taking these in our handle luggage although need to check with jet2 around glass in hand luggage, in not ill bubble wrap them and put them in mine, partners and dads case.
everything we are taking is fairly flat so shouldnt take up too much room. Weve decided against favours, weve spent enough on the wedding for the meal and from past experience are usually left unless they are chocolate.
Will def be sharing my pics, i have found it so much help being able to visualise how it works on the day through pictures - thank you everyone that shared there pics x
I've come across White Ibiza's hguide to weddings for 2014 - really good to have a read through - covers venues, suppliers and real life weddings: https://www.white-ibiza.com/WhiteIbizaWeddingGuide_2014.pdf
Not long till I go out for my venue visists in May - hoping to find the one and put a deposit down - hoping that Pura Vida looks how I imagine it too
Im taking quite abit to the venue and sending over my jars- I have quite a few!
I am also going to instead of bunting, print pictures of everyone going and hang them up with little tiny pegs...
Is everyone doing hen nights in ibiza or at home too? My maid of honour and bridesmaids all decided on something after asking all of my friends, My maid of honour paid £300 non refundable deposit back in October and payment has to be paid for by March for everyone. Turns out my maid of honour, only 1 bridesmaid out of my 5 and about 4 other people are going but none of them are my friends. I had originally asked all our female guests which consist of 13 of my best friends and about 15 other friends. However only 1 of them are making the effort to come and the other people are my Husband to be's female friends. They are nice girls but I really expected more from my friends. The hen is 2 nights in liverpool, food, drink, cocktail making and club entry with some drinks for about £180 each... Is that too expensive then? Do you think its too much to ask when they are coming to ibiza too?
My friends are however useless and even though the RSVP was sent out in May and we wanted numbers by November, they are only just starting to book for wedding this May...
Sorry to Vent- just wondered if anyone else if having hen problems?
Our wedding at Elixir is a week after you at Elixir - 14th Sept. How exciting!!
I was looking at the white fans on chairs idea too so any info would be appreciated.
We are starting at 3pm til 1am for the same reasons.
We have also booked flights with Norweigan from Gatwick - have you booked 60kg of luggage or is this counting if you go over and pay extra per kilo? I have booked 50kg per person i.e. 1 hand luggage suitcase at 10kg and 2 X 20kg hold luggage.
I am having my hen here, just 1 night out in London (i think) as it would have been too expensive for everyone to go away for the weekend. id rather just 1 night out and everyone there rather than a weekend away with only a few people.
My partner is having his stag out there 2 nights before the wedding. so i will probably go out with all the girls that are there on that night as well. x
MrsLight2be - you're not the only one! I had a few friends who made a fuss about the cost of everything, but I made it perfectly clear that I totally understood if people couldn't make either the hen do or the wedding. It's unfortunate that some of your friends haven't made the effort - it is hurtful but remember, it's your wedding and you should be entitled to have a hen do wherever you get married...you only get to do it once afterall!
Most people have said yes to the wedding (and yes, we did have to chase people for RSVPs - luckily we don't need to give final numbers to the venue until 6 weeks before the wedding). As for the hen do, I said that the cost would need to be kept as low as possible so think my bridesmaid has arranged an overnight stay somewhere in the UK with food and an activity for just £110. Pretty reasonable I think - you could easily spend not much less than that on a night out in London!
ElixirBride, sounds like you have more baggage allowance than me - we have 60kg between two of us, from the sounds of it you have 50kg per person!! Maybe I'll need to upgrade too! Need to find suitcases too - we normally borrow from friends or family but they're all coming too.
I've seen the new White Ibiza guide...does anyone know why Elixir or Eat Ibiza isn't mentioned at all? Bit odd.
Love-in-Ibiza Thank you, good to know Im not the only one! I didnt have a say on my hen so it was all left to my friends and bridesmaids just a shame they have all decided not to go after the non refundable deposit has been paid and others have paid..
I havent even looked at my baggage allowance, flying with BA- Im sure to go over although we fly with 5 others that day so Im sure we can stretch over everyones hand luggage and allowance!
Hi ladies another Cas Mila May 2014 bride cant believe its come around so fast!
Hen dos are sorted ladies day at aintree and day at ocean beach club! were only taking favors, table plan, name cards, menu and cards box to venue think the table centers will be enough for tables. Just got a few things to sort like pressies for the bridemaids and parents etc oh and my dress has arrived two sizes too big shop has quoted £170 to alter!! i dont think so will have to shop around for a cheaper quote!
Attention Elixir brides! Does anyone know if you can use a credit card to pay your deposit? I am just worried about transferring such a sum online and would prefer to use a credit card for protection.
When we paid ours she said could only take credit card in person. Ie if you are going over there. If i remember right Vickki said could provide a UK bank account to save paying £25 bank charges to a foreign account.
I don't think your Liverpool hen do sounds expensive at all but I suppose everyone's budgets are different. That's a shame that your friends can't make it though. Maybe you can do something in Ibiza when you're all out there (if you have time)?
I'm having my hen do in May - 2 nights in Manchester and only two people have said no which is my step-sister (due to money) and my future mother-in-law which surprised me as she likes a party! The boys still haven't sorted the stag (typical) but they're talking about going out somewhere in Ibiza two days before the wedding so if they're doing that then us girls are straight down Ocean Beach! Haha!
We're flying out with BA and their luggage allowance is 1x23kg bag, 1xhand luggage, 1xhandbag. I'm dumping stuff on various people to take out there with them. A few of the groom's party are flying out with Norweigan Air from Gatwick and got some right bargains on the air fare.
Anyone doing the food tasting at the Elixir? We're going out in April to do that and sort out final bits. Can't wait to see it again. Such a stunning place.
Gema - your decor ideas sound lovely - it's such a gorgeous venue anyway! Would def love to see some pics.
Mrslight2be - also don't think your hen sounds expensive, some girls can be funny sometimes though, I've seen it on friends hens. I'm gonna have mine in Ibiza.
Everyone's plans sound wonderful - so excited reading all the posts!
Hiya - yeh we are going to the Elixir tasting on Sunday 27th April - are you, or you going on the Sat? We are meeting Emma, Gypsy Westwoods Photographer too hopefully and sorting a few other bits too.
Yeh such a shame about girls playing up re hen dos. I'm going to Marbella in June and then having a separate UK one, eek! The trip is only costing £150 but its the spendo on top that makes it dear!
Everyone seems to be up for it luckily for me- a good excuse for a getaway with the girls is how they are seeing it !!
ElixirBride - we're going to the food tasting on the Saturday as we leave on the Sunday. Hopefully we can meet Emma too that weekend and Paul Hedley who we have chosen as our blesser. Definitely won't be a chilled weekend that's for sure! How you getting on with everything else? I get all excited talking about it!
How lucky are you having a Marbella hen do and a UK one btw?!
I think this is sometimes a good idea. The main argument against an early start is the heat, but in the venues with an early finish it's worth starting early as you can't add any time at all on the end.
I've been DJing at Ibiza weddings for years and it's only very recently that people have been having typically 'English' weddings in Ibiza. If you're considering an early start, it's also worth embracing the mediterranean style and ditching formal dress for the guys. The bride and groom can arrange some shade for the ceremony easily enough (awnings, parasols etc.) and it's fairly easy for ladies to dress appropriately anyway - if you steer the boys away from formal suits then the heat isn't so much of an issue :-)
It's much more in keeping with the surroundings too; suits on a beach can look a little odd....
Each to his own, but definitely worth considering if the party is a priority!
Think they charge about £25 for 30kg and all you need is a proper Ibiza address to send them to....
http://www.pharosparcel.com/
Otherwise, it's good to get at least a few close friends or family flying with BA as their luggage allowance is so generous (23kg checked baggage + 23kg hand luggage)
Have a look in the Ibiza Airline Tips group on Facebook - maybe you can share a few tricks in there.....

Dnevers- Ah what a shame, won't see you there then
We have met & booked Paul Hedley , good choice His wife is Eileen of Ibiza Cakes - they are delicious but we aren't sure we are going to have a proper wedding cake yet - waiting to see what guest numbers we get and how the budget looks as just one family extra coming to Elixir makes quite a difference!
We haven't really got much sorted yet, eek! Would love a videographer too but the photos/ video are soo much more than we'd budgeted for so not sure what we'll do yet! Not sure what to do re hair and make up yet either, its soo hard to decide! Have you got much sorted? whats your date again?
ElixirBride - we haven't actually met Paul yet but have booked him anyway. He came across as lovely in his emails and was so quick to respond as well. Have we picked well then?! We get married on the 30th of June - you're September aren't you? We've got around 30-35 people coming (still trying to get answers from people) so we are getting Vickki to do us cupcakes with a possible top tier to cut. Don't think we're going to hit the minimum spend at this rate so may do the extra canapes and an extra hour free bar. The wedding bible was a god send! Gave us so many ideas.
As much as I'd have loved a video, the other half said no way as the photographer was a lot but then you want decent pictures to look back on don't you?! Got Smack Ibiza doing the hair and make-up for me and the two bridesmaids. I might get them to do my nails too and possibly eyelash extensions. What else do you have to do? You've still got a few months left but it will fly by!
I'm so glad there are so many other brides in the same situ as me and all sharing ideas - the blog went a little quiet at the end of last year, but guessing everyone's gearing up for this year - all feeling very real now isn't it?!!
We paid the Elixir deposit from England by opening a post office international payments account which is fee free (the only charges are whatever exchange rate they decide to charge you).
BeeZwax - glad to hear that more couples are choosing to start the wedding slightly earlier. From your experience, is there much difference in the temp on the 6th Sept between 3.30 and 4.30? I just can't imagine a quieter 'chillout' party for a whole 2 hours from 12-2 will be a very good end to the wedding, especially with around 80 guests! Dress code is definitely more casual - that's part of the reason of having our wedding in Ibiza, we wanted a much more relaxed vibe and I've said that jackets and ties are optional for guests (but would prefer no crusty flipflops ha!!)
Thanks everyone, all the tips and plans are getting me really excited!! xx
Forgot to say, I've booked Helen @ Gloss Ibiza for the hair, very reasonable and she's organising the blow-dries for my mum and aunt too! A friend is doing our makeup - it's the only element of the wedding where I can actually save money...hadn't thought of that when planning a wedding abroad - over in the UK people usually have family/friends/contacts who are making their cakes, supplying cars, doing photography etc. Oh well, I personally don't think you can beat Ibiza for a wedding setting! x
Looking for any of the brides that have previously been married at Elixir, did anyone keep the timings as they are and have the 'chillout' level of music for the two hours? if so, how low is the chillout music? is it ridiculously low or still enough to continue with the party?
