I am getting married at casa mila in may 2015, just wondering why some of you brides have gone with other photographers rather than once used in ibiza wedding shop?
also regarding hair and beauty smack seem quite pricey, but are they worth it? If not any other recommendations?
I got married at Cas Mila in July 2012 and are one of the brides who decided to use Ana Lui for our photographer instead of Ann who Candida uses. To be honest at that time I just felt that Ana's style of work was more to mine and my husbands style. Ana was fantastic, she is expensive and I know her prices have increased significantly since we booked her. If I was planning my wedding again and was looking at Ann's work now I would happily keep her as part of the package. Her work has evolved and is now similar to Ana's. If money is no object then go for Ana. Hope this helps?
As for Smack Ibiza, I used them for my hair and makeup. They were expensive (most are in Ibiza) but they were well worth the money. They completely understood the look I was going for and got it spot on. I loved the fact that I didn't need to be stressing about doing my own hair and makeup in that heat, and Sara and Corina are so lovely. They don't just do weddings they do a lot of editorial work etc so I know they can get busy, they are on my fb so I know they have already started for their season.
I used smack for my hair and makeup in July 2014 and thought they were brilliant. I still have my paper work somewhere which I'm sure has their contact number on, I'll try and dig it out for you. Have you tried messaging them through their facebook page? Other brides have also used Bellisima and I've heard the name Michelle Lord used on a few forums too.
I wonder if there is much difference between smack and the others, i hear such good things about smack its probably safe to go with them! did you have them do your bridesmaids also?
We are getting Married at Cas Mila in July and are using Anne (whose incl in the package). Her work looks really good and she know the venue inside out. We have book Ana Lui's video team though to do our wedding video.
I know Smack and Bellisima are the same price, I think there are some which come in slightly cheaper. Yeah, Smack did mine, my 2 bridesmaids, my mum, my mother inlaw and my sister inlaw.
Hi! I really don't no which photographer to go for! Anna walker is included in the package but it seems lots of brides are paying the extra (nearly double) to go with Ana Lui! Does anyone have any ideas what the different in work is with the two?
Hi Nikki, I don't really know what their difference styles are but they are both of good quality. Check out Anne's website ibiza photography or have a look on Facebook. Candi has lots of pictures on their Facebook page. Ana Lui team are doing our wedding video but they are in talks with Anne so they are both on the same page x
I have booked Natalie Beth Harris as my photographer as her photos are stunning and she has done quite a few weddings at my venue so is very familiar with the setting and lighting etc. I loved Ana Lui too but she was just too expensive unfortunately. We haven't booked a videographer as the other half doesn't like the idea of a cameraman being there (although I know they're probably very discreet). I do like the idea of capturing the day in film and hoping some guests might have camcorders, but the cost is just too high to have a professional there.
Luckily I have a friend doing my makeup but have booked Helen@Gloss Ibiza for our hair dos. Have just booked Eileen to create our wedding cake - she is just amazing!! xxx
There is sometimes a bit of variation in the packages on offer, but the photos are just a very personal thing.
If you particularly like Ana Lui's photos (or someone else's) then the only way to get that for your wedding is to book her to personally photograph your wedding. It's not possible to tell someone else that you want your photos to 'be like Ana Lui's' as all the photographers have their own style and creative flair and you have to respect that and also bear it in mind when choosing. For my own wedding I know I will be taking it very seriously - the photographer will be one of the first suppliers that I book and cost won't be a deciding factor.
The same goes for the DJ; if you like someone's style, you feel that they understand what you want, they have all the right music, and recommendations from people that you trust then it's upsetting when they are already booked, and it's hard to go for the next best. I often have to recommend people in that situation and it's hard even for me to choose as I know that there isn't another DJ who is just like me so it takes a bit of time to find the one that suits that couple best. Ana Lui is the same; she has a couple of options with people that know her style and her work but it will never be exactly the same. It's like asking two artists to paint the same thing with the same materials - which one is 'best' or worth more money depends entirely on your point of view.
The caterers, florists etc. have more than one team that are able to do the same standard and style of work, and some of the other suppliers like musicians, officiates, performers etc. are able to do two weddings in one day, but if you like the style of a particular photographer or DJ then you have to book them early on, as they are one of the few suppliers that are unable to do two weddings at the same time. Also, if your choice happens to be the most popular one in a particular area (like Ibiza) then they will naturally cost more as they get booked a long way in advance and have to stick to their prices and potentially turn down lots of other work on that day.
Hope that helps explain a bit better - good luck with the rest of the planning :-)
Firstly, I used SMACK and can't praise them enough! They use a MAC spray foundation which is a godsend in the heat and my make up didn't move all day! Their spray tan's are amazing too!
We didn't find it a problem or intrusive at all having a camera man there all day - there was actually 2 of them (which is why they manage to capture so much on the video!) and I honestly didn't notice them, same with our photographer and I'm still baffled at how she got so many shots, it's like she was in 4 places at once!!!
With regards to photography, we used Nicola at Daffodil Waves, she is based in the UK but travels worldwide so it's worth getting a quote! You're not limited to Ibiza based suppliers remember! Our wedding was featured on Rock My Wedding Blog - http://www.rockmywedding.co.uk/a-crazy-idea/ so you can see her work for yourselves!
Happy Planning all, you're getting married in a very special place!
So we have Elixir booked for 13th September 2015. We haven't booked anything else apart from venue, at the moment we are considering Paul Headley for Celebrant, Gypsy and her brother for photography and video, Smack for Make up and Vickki's florist etc for the rest. Do you think I should have a deposit paid by now to secure or is it ok for a couple of months ? We are visiting Ibiza this August and thought by paying cash might save on VAT ?
Hi Joanne - just keep in close contact with Vickki - are you pencilled in for that date already? I'm sure Vickki will hold that date for you without paying a deposit until someone else shows interest, bear in mind that the Saturdays do go first so wouldn't be surprised if you get a call before you go there in August.
On another note, I have been searching for my perfect dress for a year now with still no luck (getting a little desperate now with less than 6 months to go!) - I have tried on so many that are beautiful but not suitable for the Ibiza sun and the lighter ones just aren't special enough or look like evening gowns rather that wedding dresses. Are all the other late 2014 brides sorted?! I live in London so any help/recommendations would be appreciated!!
Ahh ok, you should be absolutely fine for the other suppliers as you are so far in advance of your date. Most people I've spoken to are willing to help out with vat so just check with them in advance. We have paid all our deposits now and luckily certain people like Hedley Paul and Eileen have English bank account so not problem with the exchange rate/vat).
Thanks very much for those suggestions - Morgan Davies is a shop that keeps popping up in my searches (and pretty close to where I live) and will check out Delphine too xx
Just wondering if anyone has had difficulty with smack make up, im trying to secure a appointment with them but they aren't responding to my emails!! Not sure if its worth me going with someone like Ibiza hair and make up instead (michelle lord) ! anyone used either of the two?
also had anyone used Gypst westwood's assistant emma for photographs?
The aren't many options unfortunately, the only other one being a mercedes and that was 800€ and being it will be the only time I get married,I want to arrive in style
No problem. Yeah I was really pleased with them, they are lovely and I was really pleased with the look they did on me. I wanted a hair style I personally couldn't recreate x
Actually I found a cool vintage retro wedding car supplier: http://www.vintagebus4rentibiza.com. Nice people it seems, well priced - have always answered quickly. Meeting them beforehand to pay cash was not a problem and nice to sort out details.
