We decided to book a duo called La di dah for after the ceremony. They were playing at Experimental when we were out there last summer and were fantastic so booked them then. They're a female duo with one playing guitar and one on vocals. I have had an email to say the girl on vocals isn't going back out this summer but their replacement is really good too. They are worth checking out - lovely summery chilled out sort of style!
Hi ladies - i'm so jealous reading these posts - I got married at Elixir last year and used this blog loads but can't stop reading it!
We had La Di Dah play the song whilst I walked down the aisle (Ellie Goulding's 'How long will I love you') and after the ceremony during the aperitifs and they were AMAZING! I cannot recommend them highly enough. Their song list is brilliant and you can pick the ones you want them to play. They learnt the aisle song specially. Unfortunately they had to be positioned indoors due to the sound regulations (even during the daytime), so i really hope Elixir sort that out. But they were lovely girls, really fun and obviously love what they do!
By the way, we also asked for the bar to be closed before the ceremony. People were hot when they arrived so were glad of the cucumber water and I felt there was no need for them to start drinking alcohol so early when there was drink a plenty afterwards! I also didn't want people with pints during the ceremony - you don't get that in a church so your guests won't expect it there.
Have fun planning ladies - the lead up to the wedding was great fun too so enjoy it all. I'm already thinking of doing it all over again in 10 years' time!!
It's usually inside at Elixir as you can't really hear the song otherwise.
Generally people come in for the first dance, then go and chill outside until it gets cold, then hit the dancefloor for the last hour and a half, or something like that.
Some of the brides from last year should be able to give you some more feedback; there are a few on here.....x
Thanks everyone for your recommendations I have contacted la-di-dahs ? are you/did you use them for any ceremony songs? I think they have to be inside due to the speaker issue..does that matter? Will guests be looking around to see where the music is coming from I wonder?
Hi Beki, we didn't have any songs during the ceremony but La Di Dah sang my aisle song, and the song walking back up the aisle after the ceremony (the Jet's 'Are you gonna be my girl') although I don't remember much of this as we were so excited from being married and turning around to see our friends and family cheering!
There was actually quite a strong breeze on the day we got married (quite a blessing as it was so hot), so the sound would've carried too much had the singers been able to be outside, but there were right by the open doors so everyone could see them. As I said before, they were great fun and i would highly recommend them...just puts a bit of a personal touch to your day as you can choose the songs/musical era you like best.
We have just had an email to say lovely Laura ( saxophone ) is now free to play on our wedding day - I can't decide if her or the LA di dahs would be more suited to the day...has anyone got any recommendations?
i'm paying for wedding hair and makeup for my bridesmaids as their gift which they were all over the moon about.
We've gone for the usual cufflinks/ hip flasks for best man/groomsmen.
Rather than doing flowers have you thought about taking them for a meal either before or after wedding as a thank you? I think I'm going to organise afternoon tea for the mums when we get back and then we can give the invite to them in an envelope on the day.
Earrings for them to wear on the day would be a nice gesture too!
So many ideas, just need to keep the cost down now ha xx
I have just got engaged and we are thinking about an Ibiza wedding for May 2016. This forum is great and I've read up quite a bit but I think it seems like a good idea to get a wedding planner to help with the language, the Spanish laid-back style and just generally knowing good local places.
Can anyone recommend a good wedding planner please? Our budget isn't huge so we're not after anything too extravagant!
Congratulations on getting engaged! I got married with Ibiza wedding shop. I just found that out of everyone I contacted, financially they were the best for us, we had a round 34 guests. We went for the BBQ which the food is endless! and paid for 1 hour of the bar for our guests, and had the most amazing time! went with Wedding shops photographer and flowers etc and it was AMAZING! I can't say how much I loved it all, we only spent around £5000 with everything in for the day ( that was like photographer, flowers, photo booth, candles, lights, cake, everything that comes with the package. ) We had a really tight budget, so I didn't get hair and make up done, I did It myself, which to be fair, I already had a bit of a tan as we got here 3 days before hand, and so was all golden anyway I would say use a wedding planner, it just makes it easier when you are trying to organise from here, I've not heard of any other wedding going wrong from the wedding planners in Ibiza.......not sure if anyone else has?
Candi is amazing! She just knows how to orchestrate the perfect day and can see your vision with you, we took all of our favours and things we'd made ( on a budget wedding) and set it out so it looked really good.
I'm sure others have had great experiences with other planners around the Island (and there are some AMAZING places,) but my experience of Ibiza Wedding Shop (esp as the rest were far more out of my budget that I could have gone with) was I think the best, I couldn't have asked for it any other way, it was intimate but relaxed
have a fantastic time planning and enjoy every moment, and it doesn't end after the wedding..............life after becomes even more exciting
has anyone who got married at Casa Mila, had either the bbq or a set menu? Not sure which is better to go for? Also would like to know if the fish for the vegetarians was nice?
What do you mean they have let you down? Ive booked Lovely Laura but not heard from them & getting a bit worried, our wedding is in May! Sorry I dont know of anyone else x
Have you paid them a deposit or anything? If you have then I'm sure it will be fine. Ours was confirmed then he emailed to say they'd double booked! Same with lah di dahs so now I'm left with no one!
Despite me
going to see them the day before my wedding and picking out the correct flowers
and colours I had requested, they still forgot to use one of the flowers (the
freesias) in my bouquet!
This made the bouquet look smaller than I was expecting and not like the
picture we had discussed and agreed on. Also some of the roses were already
going brown on the edges of the petals and curling when they were
delivered.
The buttonholes (roses) were also very heavy, meaning that they didn't ever sit
right on the men's shirts and were turning upside down from the weight.
Elixir 2015 brides what are your dates? Myn is September is coming around soo quickly I am so excited
What are the Elixir brides doing about music, we are using an iPod for when the guets arrive and throughout dinner but I am not sure weather to do a playlist ( people arent going to be paying much attention ) or if you can recommend any chill out CD's I can download??
I am using flowersibiza.com for my flowers. Quick at responding to my emails and understood easily what I wanted
What music are you going to play from your iPod? CD's? Do you have any in mind?
What else have you left to sort out? I still havent got bridesmaid dresses yet - freaking out slightly about that but waiting for more summer stock to come in the shops
OMG girls time is flying - my wedding will be in June!
Cant believe how quick it's come, still have a ton of things to do.
We are just using an iPod for arrival & during dinner, thinking chill out music but not sorted anything try. My OH is supposed to be doing it but he hasn't yet.... Eeeeek!
I am using someone called Kirstin for my flowers. And smack are doing my hair & make-up plus bridesmaids hair what about you?
Have you arranged transport to Elixir & are you doing anything the night before?
I have bought some little bits and bobs to dot around the place & maybe going to invest in an instant camera nearer the time. What bits extra have you gone for?
Sorry forgot to say - I've booked a chauffeur car to take me to the venue (and one for the bridesmaids), and I'm going to stay in a hotel the night before the wedding - my OH will stay in the villa we have.
I think me & my OH are going to get a bottle of perfum/aftershave to wear on the day as it will always remind us of the day and fairly simple to carry over. No idea about parent gifts yet as flowers are pretty pointless! Have you had any idea?
Are you doing anything the night before? We have thought about doing a meal with family and any friends that want to join, dont want people to get over excited though and have headaches the next day!
Yeah we are doing the same with the fragrance. Mums I am going to book us in for afternoon tea somewhere & dads we are doing cuff links for 1 / pocket watch for other as they would like this.
I'm trying not to get myself arranging anything else to be honest, I feel like I have so much going already. If people are around the afternoon before / early evening we will probably going for food but I'm trying not to officially organize anything
Our wedding is in May we arrive in Ibiza in 4 weeks eeek! Still loads of bits to organise!
Weve gone with floral dreams for church & own flowers, and elaine for Elixir.
Were just taking over quite a bit of stationery (menus etc) for the tables and loads of different signs weve had made for guestbook table, bar etc, but we are haing quite a lot of flowers/lanterns all over the venue too.
For gifts weve arranged a spa day at Atzaro for me, bridesmaids and the mums the day before the wedding and a boat trip for the dads and groomsmen.
Weve arranged cafe mambo for all our guests for 2 nights before the wedding then just family meal night before and a bbq for everyone the day after. Arranging them has been more stressful than arranging the wedding itself!!
