I started planning the minute we got engaged and it’s been so stress free, I’d say the sooner you get a feel for what you do and don’t like then the better Smiley smile make a list of all of the things he doesn’t want for the day so that you can compromise nicely on a venue and style. The more input your fiancé is allowed the more active he will be in planning and supporting the event. Priorities what is most important for you about the day and budget around that, if your hoping for a designer dress you may need to select a cheaper venue or cake etc. make sure you look at additional costs such as registra fees as where I live these came to about £1,000!!
Make sure you only invite people that will bring happiness to your day and don’t forget if your inviting partners that by 2025 they may have an additional little one to incorporate (should you want children at your wedding).
Most of all have fun with it! Visit venues even if they aren’t your style they make for great date days out Smiley smile that’s the same for dress shopping just make a fun day of it the less pressure the easier it is to make decisions ❤️ Wishing you both the very best and congrats

I’d say the most important starting point is to work out your budget - however much you might have saved already and then how much you can realistically save between now and the potential wedding. Then rough out a potential guest list.

Once you have those two in place, you can start considering venues, as you’ll be wanting to look at venues that are suitable for your numbers and within your budget. Enjoy looking round venues and don’t feel like you have to make decisions straight away - they’ll expect you to be looking around at other places as well.

I highly recommend going to wedding fayres and open days and planning a rough guest list first, then when you feel ready to start booking things work out the budget and take it from there ☺️
