Hello,
I am fairly new here and I get married on 9th June, this year (yes, that's this year!!).
We got engaged on 9th June 2010 so set our date for 9th June 2012 to commemorate the day, so we've had long enough to plan it really!
We have had everything sorted until two weeks ago when I had a sudden realisation that not only do I not like Katie Melua particularly (my walking down the aisle music) but every time I listen to it I cry! We have 100 guests at our wedding and crying really, really embarrasses me, so I decided I'd like to walk down the aisle to something happier and more uplifting, more iconic of me and my h2b, more Indie Rock than mushy.
The option I have come up with now is 'She Bangs the Drums' by the Stone Roses - I adore the song and there was one line regarding holy bread which would be dubious with the registrar so I've had my muso friend take it out of the song and he's cut a 100 second version of the song which fades out really nicely, as my aisle walk is a long old 90 seconds.
What I'm really after is a little bit of encouragement that it's OK to be a bit outrageous and walk down the aisle to a song that's not traditional, because it's iconic about me and h2b and that I don't have to have something mushy that I won't like as much, which will embarrass me and make me cry. I mean it might say 'Kiss me where the sun don't shine' in the lyrics, but it also says 'through the early morning sun, I can see her here she comes, she bangs the drums'. I'm taking 'she bangs the drums' to be a metaphor for making his heartbeat and I think it's really pretty.
? Help me please! It's too short notice to change it again, I just need someone to tell me it's all OK ?
Thank you xx
