Please flash me your centrepieces!

bristol-bride, 7 March, 2016 at 12:53 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi All,

Completely stuck on centrepieces! There are so many styles and I can't decide what to go for, so I am looking for inspiration from you lovely ladies please, to give me some ideas!

What did you all go for, and did someone do them for you or were they diy?

TIA :-)

Am still in the middle of Diy with mine, have to wait for summer to spray paint gold outside. I bought my main centerpiece from Home Bargains for £4 and its just a pink crackle effect fishbowl. I have fake flowers in it now which will be used for my mason jars but its just to show what it will look like when have real flowers in it.

My mason jars I bought once again from Home Bargain worked out less than £1 each when buying in bulk. I bought acrylic paint and painted them pink and mint. I've sprayed the other's gold and some have gold glitter. I need to buy better sandpaper to distress the rest as well.

    what am going for

Plus i've also made my own table numbers with paper mache numbers bought at Hobbycraft used mod podge and also Glitter.

Oh and any empty candle jars I have just being putting glitter on them as well.

Be warned glitter will be forever in your house if you use it and everywhere on your body. I found glitter inside my ear the other day.

Can't flash mine, but hopefully I can describe them.

Our tables are being named after various animes/games/movies that we like, so each centrepiece is taking inspiration from the table name. The actual flower arrangement style will be based on Japanese ikebana. So, for example, we are having a table named after the Cornetto trilogy. The containers are going to be three of these, and each one is going to have a gerbera in - one red, one green, and one blue, to represent the three movies.

Another one we're having is the Legend of Zelda, so the design is going to be something like this, to reflect what a prominent role natural landscapes play in the games:

I'm getting together the containers and adapting some of them, then my florist is going to do the arrangements. I have a meeting with her on Wednesday to chat through ideas.

Wow, some lovely ideas! I think you ladies are far more creative than I am though- I'm worried I will spend a load of money on stuff, then try and put it all together and it look awful! x

Still debating ours, and trying to find teapots, but we are thinking something like this:

We both love tea and our invites had tea cups on them Smiley smile

I'm having low glass vases sprayed with gold glitter paint and filled with roses, peonies, hydrangeas, foliage etc. Then I am having small candle holders with real candles scattered around them (the florist is doing my vases which I get to keep afterwards but I am doing the candle holders. Need to buy these!) Then I am having gold glittery actual numbers as my table numbers, pink and gold place cards and pink and gold table confetti x

Here's our mock table set-up! Our centrepieces are big jars from Ikea with fairy lights in them. 2 things must be excused in this photo- 1) our ugly Christmas lights in the jar and 2) the coaster propped up with a candle (it will be replaced by a silver frame with a print of the house sigil in, our table names are the houses from Game of Thrones)

Here's the actual lights we're using, now they've come in:

As you can see, battery packs need some modification so they fit into the lids of the jars. The wedding is in Glasgow and we live in Surrey, my wee Dad is off work recovering from knee surgery so this has become his pet project ?
