I'm on the aa website using the route planner but when I put in the 'via' as M25, it's not doing it. It wants to take me via Prestwich or Enfield or whatever and break the journey. WTF is wrong with me that I can't work this out?

Have you done the "find alternate route" "exclude A1" thing?

Looking at Google maps, I'd get off the M25 at the A20 and then follow the A222 to Beckenham, but I don't know that part of London at all.

Hope you get there ok.

Assuming you can get from whereever you are now to the M225, follow it via the Dartford Bridge.

The quickest exit for Beckenham is the A21, then follow the A232 across Hayes Common and follow signs to Beckenham - or wait for your Tom Tom to re-route.

I know how to get to the M25. Am I going M25 towards Gatwick? Rather than Heathrow? God, I'm so rubbish at this.

Right so get to the M25 then towards the M11 and Dartford. Def not Heathrow from where you are. No sure which way Gatwick would be!
