Please help me with my timings xxx

justengaged, 5 August, 2008 at 16:23 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hello! I am trying to sort out my timings the day and haven’t a clue on how long things take LOL, please can you help?

We get married at 12.00 so have said service will finish at 12.45

½ hour for pics outside church and speak to people 1.15 (is that about right)

Arrive at venue 1.45 1/2 hour drive

Reception drinks and photos ½ hour finish at 2.15

People mingling while we have pics on our own finish 2.45

Receiving line (if we have one) 15 mins so sit down for meal at 3.00

Speeches 30 mins (we want these first so everyone can relax) finish at 3.30

Finish meal at 5.30

Evening reception start at 7.00

Does that sound about right to everyone? Thanks xxx

We have been told that teh room needs a hour to be changed for teh evening disco etc but there is a lounge attached that people can go to also there are lots of gardens, to be honest most people will be staying over aswell so guess people will want to check in properly and maybe go to their rooms for a bit, but i know what you mean, maybe i will have to start some party games he he

Sounds good to me! Just one word of warning - make sure your speechmakers know exactly how much time they have and that they will have to stick to it precisely. My mum was at a wedding a while ago where someone's speech went on (and on...and on....and on....) and the meal was less good as a result (I can't remember whether it went cold or got burnt - either way, it was not at its best).

That all sounds about right. I would limit each speaker to 10 minutes. That's more than enough. Also, how many people are you having attend and how many people will be in your receiving line. This could be the bit that takes a bit longer depending on numbers.

    Hiya

Yes that sounds about right - plenty of time for the photos which is always good to see!! We also had our speeches before the meal, and it is a good tip to make sure they don't run over the 30 minutes. Perhaps ask the people doing the speeches to tie up between themselves how long each will speak for - 10 minutes each would be the easiest I suppose!
