sparkles1984, 21 November, 2009 at 15:50 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hiya, going to try and have 2 readings in the service, one that my sister doesnt know about which is her partners Downs brother doing a reading and also my OH sister.

Does anyone have any readings, a very short simple one and a normal one? I cant seem to find anything decent and easy for him.

Thanks

How old is his brother? I have a really sweet one that I wanted my nephew to do in his cute little french accent...

    A Wedding is a Party

A wedding is a party with,
    Of course, a wedding cake.
But sometimes by the time it comes,
    It's hard to stay awake.
People need to talk a lot,
And laugh and joke and kiss,
And cry - why do they cry? - and mention
    God and love and bliss.

    Two people have decided that
They'll share one house for life,
And call themselves, instead of friends,
    A husband and a wife.

And so we have to get dressed up,
And eat a lot, and wait
For hours till they finally serve
    The great big wedding cake.

Or what about the 'Eskimo Love Song': http://www.instantforever.com/readings_poems_and_vows_page_1.html

Eskimo Love Song ~ Author Unknown ~

You are my husband, you are my wife
My feet shall run because of you
My feet dance because of you
My heart shall beat because of you
My eyes see because of you
My mind thinks because of you
And I shall love, because of you.

    We had these readings:

    On Your Wedding Day

Today is a day you will always remember
    The greatest in anyone's life
You'll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as husband and wife.

It's a brand new beginning, the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although they'll be times when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken

So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It's the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper ‘I do'

And with luck all your hopes and your dreams can be real
May success find its way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts
    Anon

    and

Chapter One of One Thousand by O.J. Preston

For two people this dawn brought on a magical day
Now husband and wife they head on their way
As a boat setting sail may their journey begin
With calmest of waters, most helpful of wind
And if they should stumble upon turbulent sea
May it pass them unharming – leave them be.

For here are two people whom love has well bitten
Here opens their book which has yet to be written
As the first page unfolds and their life inks its path
May it write a true story where forever love lasts
Let their journey be happy till death do they part
Of one thousand chapters may this be the start

I really like the first one Lynsey. That would be ok for OH sister but my sisters partners brother is 28 but obviously as a downs he struggles with big words and meanings.

Sarah how about making your own up poem for him or asking him what things he'd like to say and maybe you could put something together with words that already mean something to him?

Could you adapt this and make it shorter. Just thinking that the lines 'i will be here' might be easier for him to read if you could come up with another few lines to replace the longer ones.

    I will be there

If in the morning when you wake,
If the sun does not appear,
    I will be here.
If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand and have no fear,
    I will be here.

    I will be here,
When you feel like being quiet,
When you need to speak your mind I will listen.
Through the winning, losing, and trying we'll be together,
    And I will be here.
If in the morning when you wake,
    If the future is unclear,
    I will be here.
As sure as seasons were made for change,
Our lifetimes were made for years,
    I will be here.

    I will be here,
And you can cry on my shoulder,
When the mirror tells us we're older.
I will hold you, to watch you grow in beauty,
And tell you all the things you are to me.
We'll be together and I will be here.
I will be true to the promises I've made,
To you and to the one who gave you to me.
    I will be here.

Just found this one on the Hitched site

    What about

All my happiness goes out to you:
Pride and pleasure, joy, sweet tears, and love!
Reason, hope, and faith together move
In harmony to bless all that you do.
Let this beginning be the golden dawn
At which all dew-drenched nature sings its glory!
Nor should the darkness shrouding every story
Dim the blue-eyed beauty of this morn.
More of life will come than you can hold:
A flood no mortal witness can withstand.
Rest, then, within a quiet, gentle hand,
Knowing where love is as you grow old.

    Or

    On your joyful wedding day,
You begin a brand new life.
Friends and family give their gifts
    To joyful husband, blissful wife.

But the greatest gift you'll ever get,
    A gift from heaven above,
    Is love forever, ending never,
    Everlasting love.

    You'll share life's joy and pleasure;
You'll have plenty of that, it's true.
But love is the real treasure
For your new spouse and you.

And if life hands you challenges,
As it does to one and all,
Your love will hold you steady
    And never let you fall.

    Your wedding day is full of joy;
    Tomorrow you cannot see.
But one thing's sure for the two of you:
The best is yet to be.

    or

Your wedding day is just the start
Of a lifetime full of love and fun.
It just begins as you take your vows,
    When the two of you are joined as one;

    We wish for you sweet happiness;
Through the years, may your love grow,
To warm you both from day to day,
    In your marriage’s satisfying glow.

    L xx

    Thanks Lynsey and Bailey!

Lynsey with the opion of asking him I cant as he will not know until about a month before as he wont be able to keep it a secret as he believes this is wrong in his faith.

Ill keep looking for some short ones that he can do. I like the one you just posted too. My sisters partners daughter is in on the secret and is going to help him with it too which is nice of her!
