Polish/english wedding location problem

Daria, 27 July, 2024 at 16:41 Posted on Planning 0 1
Hi,
I'm Polish my partner is English. We're struggling to make location work.
I want to get married in Poland and he wants to get married here. I have family in Poland who can't travel due to health and same for his family here.
Initally we thought civil ceremony here, church wedding in Poland which would make us both happy. However we fear that my family knowing there's a 2nd wedding in Poland will not come out for the wedding here and vice versa for his family. Destination wedding (different country) is also out of question as my partner doesn't like the idea.
Any couples had a similar problem before? How did you solve it? Help please 🙏 😭

I have several friends who married people from different countries, and they either had a civil ceremony in one country and a religious ceremony in the other (sometimes, only one type of ceremony was valid in one of the countries, which simplified deciding!) or else had the wedding ceremony in one country and then a wedding blessing/celebration in the other.

It's true that many people only attended the ceremony which took place in their own country, but I think that's just something you have to accept when you marry someone from another country - on the positive side, it does mean you get to celebrate your wedding twice!
